Chrinik Posted February 29, 2016 Posted February 29, 2016 Here goes a 17 minutes recording in "dead pilot's soul mode" in the last few hours of the campaign... *NOB*Wepar & me went for a SEAD strike an I bought the farm first... it didn't kick me back out to spectators and some of the stuff I got on recording are amazing... Enjoy!!! Maybe you can find yourself in it... Yeah, I found myself in it...I´m the guy strafing the chopper on the ground at 4:15 (at 6 minutes he despawned crediting me XD) and around 13 minutes the giant missletrail that comes down from the sky was an ill launched R-27T which was my last missile and I was completely winchester everything and went home. Tibet Posted February 29, 2016 Posted February 29, 2016 (edited) Sure! 2.5:1 BLUE: 33.58h RED: 25.5h 3:1 BLUE: 19.83h RED: 16.33h The situation changes for ratios 5:1+ 5:1 BLUE: 4.5h RED: 6.17h Those numbers are pretty conclusive IMHO... REDFOR peaked at just the right time and managed to sustain right up until the clock struck zero. It seemed to me, be it I don't have the full picture as I am REDFOR, BLUEFOR may have suffered some morale issues with the large territory loss towards the end of the campaign... So back to point one... REDFOR peaked at the right time... BLUEFOR on the other hand bottomed out at the worst time possible. Good fights all around though, and special thanks to my REDFOR comrades who stuck through some pretty dark times for the big comeback... had my doubts from time to time but you all pulled through! That is a very interesting thinking - I checked it and you seem to be right if the right time means the end of the campaign. IASGATG Posted February 29, 2016 Posted February 29, 2016 With the help of Counter I took the raw data and modified it a little to help remove some of that server crash bias. I removed all data points where the server went down and then crashed again within 30 minutes of going down again. I think it's fair to say that nothing can happen within 30 minutes minus some air-to-air kills maybe but the chances of that changing the war are slim to none. Over the full 16 days Default | Modified BLUE: 16.35 BLUE: 16.18 RED: 16.08 RED: 15.94 Outnumbered by at least 1 player: BLUE: 168.42h BLUE: 165.33h RED: 143.58h RED: 140.58h Outnumbered 2:1 BLUE: 55.17h BLUE: 53.08h RED: 39.92h RED: 37.58 Outnumbered 3:1 BLUE: No data BLUE: 18.67h RED: No data RED: 14.5h ---------------------------------------- For the last 3 days: Entirely modified: Average player number: BLUE: 18.22 RED: 21.47 Outnumbered by at least 1: BLUE: 23.67h RED: 37.08h 2:1 BLUE: 8.5h RED: 13.33h 3:1 BLUE: 3.33h RED: 5.17h The crashing doesn't seem to change a huge amount which is good, expected but nice to be confirmed. Most interesting thing is that red got most of it's player advantage in the final three days, especially two days, where as blue earnt most of it's player advantage in the earlier days. I think if we had the ability to see a moving map against this data it'd really show how and where play advantages made a difference.
BodyOrgan Posted February 29, 2016 Posted February 29, 2016 (edited) I just want to thank the mighty 7 for holding the line during what was sure to be a BLUEFOR victory before REDFOR made their major offensive. I remember there only being 5 active REDFOR while we lost Gelendzhik, and Novorossiysk's defenses had been completely destroyed along with much of Anapa's. I jumped to every REDFOR teamspeak channel to rally anyone who wasn't playing, and managed to pull in two chopper pilots.... M460, and RedStar to bolster our 5 man strong CAP team. Lets just put it this way...... you know shit got real when our chopper pilots are jumping in CAP fighters to put up our final defense, and the first thing they ask is how do you turn the engines on. ...and yes BLUEFOR... we were praying to the server GODS for a crash! Was awesome!!! Great job on the comeback! BLUFOR you put out a hell of a fight and I enjoyed every second of it! Hats off to every player I encountered I Was amazed at the level of coordination and teamwork achieved with basically strangers from all over the world, which have now become friends :) The CGI position with CA brings a level of immersion not achievable in single player or on any other "standard" servers. This is what DCS is meant to be and can only grow better with time thanks to all the exceptional work of Xcom , Greg, Crash, Ciribob and all the input from all the players, I can't wait to see what round 6 has in store for us! See you all in round 6!!! :gun_smilie: Simflyin' since 1985 :smartass:
sirscorpion Posted February 29, 2016 Posted February 29, 2016 (edited) Amazing game mode, truly how DCS is ment to be played. Thank you for Xcom and Buddyspike for putting in the work. and allowing the public to play this one. I have to say ED needs to support this, I had no reason or interest before to buy some of the models and just simply due to this game mode i gout both the Mi-8 and Huey for blue flags. I would also like to thank the 104th guys for helping out and being in public channels along with =]H[= squadron for some amazing organized missions. And colt for being amazing GCI. Good fight Reds and congrats. Some small suggestions to Xcom. 1. the Ping limiter defiantly helped, warping was less than what it was before. ping is an added issue, not the entire one and i hope the whole thing gets fixed. 2. More lives to compensate for crashing, i was on average losing 2-3 per session simply to Mass DC. 3. Maybe 2 hours rounds as suggested would help as the last hour for cap was impossible. 4. No life use on the Mig21 can be an interesting Idea. 5. High end fighters can maybe start with 50% fuel. its enough for emergency scramble and not too punishing for full load, "refueling for x time just for the server to crash is hard mentally. 6. Reduce fuel requirements for taking off aircraft due to loss based on crashing. 7. No squadron slots, i have been on for a long amount of times and some air bases on blue where simply useless to cap as they where fully reserved for people who never showed up. 8. Better data center location, as we are playing on a global scale. Less internet hops means lower packet loss, Germany or London Are less hops for those in Asia and the US. Last one major suggestion from an ArmA mission maker and script maker, Be smart about scripts. you can reduce the need of scripts by reducing the need for actions by players. if you run a script twice for example for fuel, double the amount, the players will do that action less. Yes its true it wont help game play much or might make things easier. But It will give over all stability. Check what you can go with or without. sometimes extending a spawn time, or reducing number of spawns can enhance the game. Example, if spawning stuff every 30min causes script errors or server over load, the spawning stuff every 1 hour with 50% more targets can give roughly the same result but with lower effect, not claiming I know how it works in DCS, but just a prospective and example. Once more thank you to all amazing stuff. I hope you get all the support you need from ED. And i cant wait for the next round. Edited February 29, 2016 by sirscorpion

Monkey21 Posted February 29, 2016 Posted February 29, 2016 Any thoughts on implementing a team limit of 30-40 per side? I think a contributing factor to the team imbalance is the (entirely necessary) server cap of 60 players, because it makes it harder for people trying to join to even up the teams. A few times I spent 10 minutes trying to join the server, only to find 10 or so blues trying to fight 40+ red (and vice versa in previous campaigns) and the (again, totally necessary) server cap of 60 makes it very hard for the outnumbered side to turn it around, even if they have the manpower, because they're all stuck in the multiplayer lobby. I'm really sick of the "but X outnumbered us" complaints, they make the losers sound like spoiled children and it cheapens the victory for the winners and perhaps limiting the number of people able to be in one coalition at any one time would go some way to preventing huge imbalances from occurring. I'm thinking 35? It allows the side with a numerical advantage to exploit it somewhat by giving them potentially 40% extra aircraft, without creating a scenario where one team cannot defend themselves effectively, and it means the server cap does not act to benefit the numerically superior quite so much. The obvious consequences of this would be lots of people in spectator mode, waiting for an aircraft, so it's far from perfect. Inb4 "war isn't fair" comments.

Darkwolf Posted February 29, 2016 Posted February 29, 2016 spent 10 minutes trying to join the verser, only to find 10 or so blues trying to fight 40+ redWithout this inbalance, we would have played the Sochi-Gelenzhik area for 4 weeks and everybody would get bored and leave. ;) They are already plenty of static mission on other servers for this.
