OnlyforDCS Posted February 20, 2017 Posted February 20, 2017 The map could be set almost permanently to cold, overcast and raining, lol. It would make the map more convincing. The Europe feel and look to it. Maybe this is not general knowledge "down under", but Normandy and the South of England is definitely not "The Europe - feel and look". There is a lot more to Europe than dreary English Channel weather :P Current specs: Windows 10 Home 64bit, i5-9600K @ 3.7 Ghz, 32GB DDR4 RAM, 1TB Samsung EVO 860 M.2 SSD, GAINWARD RTX2060 6GB, Oculus Rift S, MS FFB2 Sidewinder + Warthog Throttle Quadrant, Saitek Pro rudder pedals.

PicksKing Posted February 22, 2017 Posted February 22, 2017 (edited) Some asked about different seasons for the normandy map. Im not quite sure but it looks like, we will get at least spring and summer. Watch this: https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=3059170&postcount=14 Great pics  but I dont know why do you think there will be spring at least, I cant see anything in the trees or something like that to guess that, am I missing something?? Btw, I like how the new ilumination looks but Im worried about shadows, Im yet to see a single shot where shadows look good and/or better than the ones we have now. They look very low quality, low res and undefined which I think that kills the great quality of the models. Also, I was specting much more foam in the water and more waves in the coast, just like in RL...according with the pictures they are barely noticeable. Hope to see more soon!! EDIT: Also, I noticed a very high level of purple tint in shadowed areas which looks a bit too much, but only in some pics, others look perfect so I hope that excesive purple tint is not in the final version. Its really only a very vague guess. I dont want to start a hype train on that. See these two pics. First looks like spring, second like summer to me. bart Posted February 22, 2017 Posted February 22, 2017 Lots of ripe wheat/corn fields in the second screen shot so could be July/August, first one has green fields but the trees are in full leaf so hard to tell. NRG-Vampire Posted February 22, 2017 Posted February 22, 2017 (edited) I can be wrong probably :D grass color means nothing coz texture color of the superficial layer (farmlands/fields here) influences the grass color above and in other seasons not only the grass color should change but the color of the whole vegetation (trees mainly) Edited February 22, 2017 by NRG-Vampire
Blech Posted February 22, 2017 Posted February 22, 2017 Hi, I hope there will be a filter like "WW2 units only" and no speculation ala "Unit xyz" - what are you ?

Vitormouraa Posted February 22, 2017 Posted February 22, 2017 DCS has a lot of blueish color, especially the 2.5. However I don't think it's a problem.. SplashOneGaming Discord https://splashonegaming.com

BlackLion213 Posted February 22, 2017 Posted February 22, 2017 DCS has a lot of blueish color, especially the 2.5. However I don't think it's a problem.. Interesting, I don't see that. To me the colors look a bit "warmer" than before (in a good way). That said, color perception is really subjective and does vary from person to person (our cones have different thresholds/sensitivities, etc), so there will always be differences of opinion. To me, 2.5 looks as close to real as I have seen and the new lighting is very convincing. Add to that the new water rendering and grass - it simply looks awesome to my eyes. -Nick
Silver_Dragon Posted February 22, 2017 Posted February 22, 2017 interesting if the Normandy "airfields" can match with modern equipment. Donut Posted February 22, 2017 Posted February 22, 2017 interesting if the Normandy "airfields" can match with modern equipment. I agree. Something else to consider are the runways in regards to length and being paved in order to accommodate modern jets. i5 7600K @4.8GHz | 1080 Ti | 32GB 3200MHz | SSD | DCS SETTINGS | "COCKPIT"

Thank you for the example. :) To me it still looks more grey than blue, but again we may be perceiving it in very different ways (these differences in perception are well documented). -Nick 1
