GaryIKILLYOU Posted April 24, 2016 Posted April 24, 2016 Come on We posted three seperate mini updates in the 10 days that followed Part 1. (MP Screenshot, screenshot #2, breakaway .gif) Would you have been satisfied if I grouped them together into a post and called it Part 2 instead? I also did not notice us missing the New Years Update deadline nor the one for this very update. Disappointing attitudes. EDIT: I sound redicilously grumpy in this post. Sorry! I just want to fling some poo. :D He's not 100% right, but not 100% wrong either. Just saying. Y'all do tend to push back updates pretty frequently. I get that we're not "promised" updates. I get that we're not guaranteed anything. I get that everything is up to change. However, it's really hard to follow development and get hyped for something/ want to buy something Day-1 when we can't get solid released for mere updates. I'm one of your guy's biggest fans. I remember when the MiG-21bis mod that replaced the F-16A came out and have followed the MiG-21 since then. I love the work you did and do on the MiG-21. That doesn't preclude critique from us though. Have a little fun and playing with the community is fine for a while. However I wouldn't call releasing screenshots (something that takes maybe 20 seconds to do) updates. A .gif? 10 minutes at max. Again don't get me wrong I love the work you guys do, however it's hard to place faith in you guys when we're told something, and then told it's been delayed/pushed back/etc. fairly frequently. 1 My Specs:Win 10 Pro 64bit/ i7 6770K 4.5Ghz/32GB DDR4/ GTX 1070 SC/Samsung SSD Warthog Stick/TWCS Throttle/TrackIR 5
Silver_Dragon Posted April 24, 2016 Posted April 24, 2016 It's coming! We'll do another mini update focusing on the Ranger first though. We're moving towards doing more, smaller updates, especially as the Viggen is nearing completion and a few months will be spent solely on marketing. :) Interesting.... For Work/Gaming: 28" Philips 246E Monitor - Ryzen 7 1800X - 32 GB DDR4 - nVidia RTX1080 - SSD 860 EVO 1 TB / 860 QVO 1 TB / 860 QVO 2 TB - Win10 Pro - TM HOTAS Warthog / TPR / MDF

Tirak Posted April 24, 2016 Posted April 24, 2016 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USS_Ranger_%28CV-61%29 It may not be the best idea to "fling poo" at people who are so enthusiastic about your product that when you put out a deadline for an update, they stay up hours into the night to see if you're going to pull another last ten minute joke on them, only to have you blow by it... repeatedly... and yet they get excited for it every time. Your die hard fans are the ones most disappointed when you miss an Update Cobra, consider that before you start treating them like lepers.

Nothing makes us happier. The rest of your post is fiction though, especially in 2016. Neither the NYE update nor the one we're posting in now were delayed. Thus- I'm not sure why this discussion is progressing as if they were. I'm the first one to submit to valid critiscism; but in this case I'll stick with polite disagreement. EDIT: In hindsight, this is a bit of a silly discussion in general. We're all focused on getting the previously planned Part II out the door ASAP-- but we'll have some great progress to show this week. Stay tuned! Greekbull Posted April 24, 2016 Posted April 24, 2016 I hate to see the criticism of LNS on updates. They are actually one of the best about giving us info and awesome pics to salivate over. Love that they are tackling these awesome projects which will make DCS much much better than it currently is. It's criticism like this which keeps us from getting much in the forum of any updates from many other sources including much of anything from ED on the Hornet. Just to know, this progress that we will see this week, is about the Viggen? Tomcat? Tirak Posted April 24, 2016 Posted April 24, 2016 Re: Bold bit: Fwiw, LNS haven't missed a deadline recently where they've actually specified a date. Edit: Sniped by Cobra himself! That's all for this part of the update! Thanks for reading, and stay tuned for the second part coming up sometime during next week. Seems pretty delayed to me. Also, the past few updates, as part of having some fun with the community, updates have been posted literally within the last few minutes ahead of the international dateline change. It's not a bad joke, keeping in line with the, deserved and you know it, impression that LN announcements are only barely on time if they do come on time. The problem with playing that joke is when you miss those deadlines, and now people are up in Europe at 5 in the morning, because they were hoping to catch the update that didn't get canceled at a more reasonable time, and they can't just shrug it off because it missed a normal update time, because you guys are known for the last 10 minutes game. Cobra, I'm not giving a bollocking for missing this update, shit happens, delays happen, and in software delays can pile up. So long as this project remains ethereal then there's not much sense at getting frustrated when deadlines are missed. But it does irritate me when I see you take the piss on people who are clearly frustrated because of a pattern of behavior you guys demonstrate. You can't say you've been on time for updates, you know that's not true. You're 8 months overdue on the Viggen Update, the March update was posted as originally being Mid March but we all gave you the benefit of the doubt when talking to each other and let it slide to the last minutes of March 31st. But you've blasted right on by Update 2 which now puts 2 updates fully MIA. Viggen: MIA NYE: Last 10 minutes March: Ended up being Late March, again last 10 minutes Pt 2: Now 4 weeks late That's 1.5 out of the last 4 "planned" updates. Now again, I'm pretty chill about it, but you've got to stop treating people who are frustrated like they're talking shit for no reason.
tkid Posted April 24, 2016 Posted April 24, 2016 Finnaly someone telling it like it is, truth hurts but it's okay as long as it is acknowledged. Yes they have continuously been the last 10 minutes guys and yes they are hella late on pt 2 but maybe they can turn it around. While these updates might not mean too much to them (based on the lateness) they are gold to us, so LNS if your reading I think you can do alot better concerning community updates if you really wanted to.

Fracture Posted April 24, 2016 Posted April 24, 2016 Cobra if you could look at it from a fresh perspective you'd see that the perception of some with regard to you and updates is like Charlie Brown, Lucy, and the football. You keep saying you won't yank the football away yet the perception of some is that is what is happening. Then when they get venomous you often snap back which doesn't paint you in a good light. I get that you guys are busting your tails, and that it is difficult, stressful, and agravating, but you're not doing yourself any favors lowering yourself to the level of the venomous,(even when they deserve it). You don't want to risk leaving a bad first impression of you and by default Leatherneck for new perspective customers to see. IMHO I don't like the delays any more than the next guy, but I can completely understand the situation, so I just don't let it bother me. Personally I'm more interested in a buy now button than an update, but I'll take what I can get. :) Best of luck to you and the team; Fracture 2
