added screenshot of my dilemma

So i got standalone dcs version 2.2.0

i still get the same issue, small borderless window with unusable resolution just see the news tab, settings and new icon which has 6 small squares in a grid

while in the oculus, i get white vr background with a screen that is stuck on "DCS.exe loading"

I have checked the vr tab in dcs

It seems like there is a new issue every time i overcome one.

Ill see the light at the end of the tunnel soon.

Thanks again

It looks like the screenshot in only showing a portion of the opening screen so I can't tell what the error says. Have you tried setting your desktop resolution to match your in game resolution setting?

I am unable to navigate the dcs menus because the oculus screen stays on a white background with the caption, "Sorry, DCS.World is taking a while to load"

Thanks again

Mine always says that, but it eventually loads. IIRC it took a long time the very first time. It still says that every time.

Did you check "Enable VR Headset" in DCS Settings? You need to either do that, or load it with Skatezillas DCS tool.

Sorry to hijack this thread for a moment, but I could use some expert advise :helpsmilie:

I came across a gaming pc + cv1 offer and I was hoping some of you guy's could tell me if this system is priceworthy. And even more important, will I be able to run DCS+AV-8B (and later F/A-18C) modules on high settings in VR?

Specs:

Intel Core i7-6700K Boxed

Supermicro C7Z270-PG

MSI GeForce GTX 1080 SEA HAWK 8GB

Seagate Barracuda, 2TB

NZXT Phantom 820 Black

Gelid Solutions Phantom

Crucial Ballistix Sport LT BLS2C8G4D240FSB

Samsung 850 EVO 500GB

Oculus Rift CV1

Price € 1500 (± $ 1860,-)

Most parts still have warranty (at least the cv1 and gfx card do). According to the seller, the system hasn't been overclocked.

System specs:

i7-8700K @stock speed - GTX 1080TI @ stock speed - AsRock Extreme4 Z370 - 32GB DDR4 @3GHz- 500GB SSD - 2TB nvme - 650W PSU

HP Reverb G1 v2 - Saitek Pro pedals - TM Warthog HOTAS - TM F/A-18 Grip - TM Cougar HOTAS (NN-Dan mod) & (throttle standalone mod) - VIRPIL VPC Rotor TCS Plus with ALPHA-L grip - Pointctrl & aux banks <-- must have for VR users!! - Andre's SimShaker Jetpad - Fully adjustable DIY playseat - VA+VAICOM - Realsimulator FSSB-R3

I don't think that there is a such system that can run DCS in VR in perfectly in high.

I have built multiple little higher end setups than that and still FPS drops in VR below 30 in default VR settings, while all maxed out for 4K runs over 180 FPS.

The VR is little abysmal at the moment in 1.5 and 2.2. versions, so your timing is now little critical that what the 2.5 brings. I seriously hope that 2.5 is optimized a lot better.

Looks a nice system but knock him down if you can. Get it for 100$ less will make it more a bargain :)

i just leave it here :

Palm grip axis is used for selection of interaction hand (with green ray)

Index trigger used as left mouse button mouse

Thumbstick as mouse wheel, X as escape button, Y as centering, A as zoom

Specially for Oculus in Steam VR: new command line option -force_steam_VR added, it allows to use Steam API for Oculus

Known issues:

- GUI renders on front

- no controls mapping for VIVE

I don't think the CV1 warranty can be transferred. You might want to confirm that.

I’ve been away awhile just fired up 2.5 and very Impressed with the oculus touch controller implementation. So question when can we virtually control the aircraft with the touch controllers. I hope that is the direction this is going. Maybe that is the VR capability of the f18 module?

Pancake flying is dead in my eyes and this having our hands in the virtual pit is amazing!

X-plane 11 implementation is much better and controlling the airacraft is very awkward close to impossible to make any precise movement without having any feel for your inputs

I love Touch for the games that it is designed, but I can't see using it when I have a hotas for controlling my birds. Total immersion breaker when the haptics are missing. Even my stick and throttle not being a close match, positionally, with what I see can be off putting.

One of the things I love most about my Warthog joystick is the feel of cold metal as you touch it. I think those physical sensations are even more important in VR, and probably more noticeable too.

Alright so i've returned to this thread after trying everything, DCS works fine without my oculus plugged in. ive checked all the buttons in the vr tab but whenever the oculus is plugged in the resolution changes on my desktop and i am stuck listening to the menu music through my rift while staring at a black loading sign image. This is quite a frustrating problem.

Are you running the Beta Oculus software? I had some issue with Oculus and DCS 2.5 Until I reverted to the standard Oculus software. Had sound without video, just a black headset, my monitor screen still had video. Really weird

Trust me , flying without stable reference for your hand(i.e. physical stick) will make for some very clumsy flying, especially helicopter flying. It would be downright stupid for a true sim like DCS to take that wii-type route.
