NeilWillis Posted June 17, 2016 Posted June 17, 2016 When you pay £500 for a headset, you definitley don't want to go wasting frames by blinking! Seriously though, using one of those moisturising eye sprays to rehydrate your eyes after a session might not be a bad idea either. Does anyone use contact lenses when they're on the Rift?

VR-Hunter Posted June 17, 2016 Posted June 17, 2016 I have CV1 for few weeks and done some +1 hr long sessions. After I have dry eyes. Also noticed that I forgot to blink.
SkateZilla Posted June 17, 2016 Posted June 17, 2016 A few times at first I've had what I call goopy eye, where I have a thick layers of goop on my eye after LOOOOONG sessions, but i havent had that issue in a while. dogbite Posted June 17, 2016 Posted June 17, 2016 Didn't like wearing glasses with all the flipping up the hmd, so went to air flow contact -great. Getting my IPD from the optometrist really helped, as I couldn't quite tell with the Oculus test. Getting the right focus really helps with avoiding eye strain. SageOT Posted June 18, 2016 Posted June 18, 2016 No contacts and my eyesight isn't terrible, only wear my glasses driving pretty much. So I don't wear any type of eye wear in the Rift. I did however get my first headache after about 2 hours straight in the goggles. I still find them amazingly comfortable, with no strain on my face or neck after that long, just the red raccoon ring on my face. So I'm guessing it was from eye strain. Again, that's the first time I've ever had issues. So for me 2 hours seems to be the, "Take a break you nerd." point. austenb Posted June 18, 2016 Posted June 18, 2016 Just setup my new Oculus Rift and all went well, checked for outside source and set DCS 1.5 to recognise the Rift but when I load DCS world now all I get is a grey square in the middle of the monitor the cursor will not move out of it and the Rift stays dark. Can anyone help please.

Can anyone help please. In the top middle of your Rift (on the inside) does the Rift stay orange? I had to use an HDMI to DP adapter and it lit up. Someone said Rift is not 100% HDMI compliant or something like that. I can't confirm that, but I know adding a display port solved my issue. The weird thing is, it worked just fine for about two weeks. It then went belly up for some reason. good luck. hsb hsb HW Spec in Spoiler --- i7-10700K Direct-To-Die/OC'ed to 5.1GHz, MSI Z490 MB, 32GB DDR4 3200MHz, EVGA 2080 Ti FTW3, NVMe+SSD, Win 10 x64 Pro, MFG, Warthog, TM MFDs, Komodo Huey set, Rverbe G1

You'll then see a line item with your Rift on it. There's nothing obvious there, but just click on the line and you'll get the order detail. hsb HW Spec in Spoiler --- i7-10700K Direct-To-Die/OC'ed to 5.1GHz, MSI Z490 MB, 32GB DDR4 3200MHz, EVGA 2080 Ti FTW3, NVMe+SSD, Win 10 x64 Pro, MFG, Warthog, TM MFDs, Komodo Huey set, Rverbe G1

It does say shipped but the number provided is that a UPS tracking number? UPS tracking doesn't give me anything (yet). hansangb Posted June 18, 2016 Posted June 18, 2016 Typically, that happens if the shipper created the label, but wasn't picked up by a UPS truck yet. hsb HW Spec in Spoiler --- i7-10700K Direct-To-Die/OC'ed to 5.1GHz, MSI Z490 MB, 32GB DDR4 3200MHz, EVGA 2080 Ti FTW3, NVMe+SSD, Win 10 x64 Pro, MFG, Warthog, TM MFDs, Komodo Huey set, Rverbe G1
SkateZilla Posted June 19, 2016 Posted June 19, 2016 (edited) lol, Since Oculus hasnt fixed the GPU Clock Throttling, Which in logs shows as 16/06 23:45:19.019 {INFO} [Log] [DisplayManager] Enabling high performance power scheme... 16/06 23:45:19.021 {INFO} [Log] [DisplayManager] Enabling high performance GPU power profile. 16/06 23:45:19.021 {INFO} [Log] [DisplayManager] Successfully applied power settings to AMD adapter. I Bypassed it using MSI Afterburner Overclocking Software To Block Power State function Calls by Oculus Software, once DCS Loaded Up and I was in the cockpit/fly screen I closed it *(as it blocked OBS from Recording), and used AMD's Radeon Settings App to adjust the clocks to 1050MHz and keep it there. if a power state call got thru and dropped the clocks, I simply use afterburner to override it. So... W/ GPU at 1Ghz, I get 30-45 FPS, w/ 1.2 Pixel Density. Note: this isnt on my lightning GPU's, this is on a Lowly 7870XT (Tahiti) 2GB which is Very Low Spec. Which I am currently using since my Lightning GPU Cards do not have Native HDMI and none of the adapters worked. I had planned to setup my lightning as a 2nd GPU and Xfire them to see if I can force some extra horsepower since they are both Tahiti GPUs, *I XFired a 7970 and 7950 as well as 2x 7970 and the 7870XT at one point, so I know it works, whether or not it works with DCS Is another story. It did double my FPS and reduce stuttering on the Steam VR Performance App. In the Hanger Scene and once Im away from anything significant (Cities, etc), I get 90 FPS Pegged. Walking around the hanger scene is actually kind of fun. I still havent found a way to override the preview window size/aspect for recording, but I can atleast record it when in Full screen now. Flamin_Squirrel Posted June 19, 2016 Posted June 19, 2016 Does pixel density make a big difference? I tried adjusting it with the debug tool but I'm not sure if it worked.
SageOT Posted June 19, 2016 Posted June 19, 2016 I finally tried it. Opened Oculus home, opened debug tool, chanel to 1.5 opened DCS. Completely made all the cockpit gauges I could not read before readable. Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk VFA-25 Fist of the Fleet[sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Virtual Carrier Strike Group One | Discord

As long as it shows the kneeboard then anything you add should show as well or at least it better or else it will be useless for me. :pilotfly: ROTORCRAFT RULE GB Aorus Ultra Z390| 8700K @ 4.9GHz | 32 GB DDR4 3000 | MSI GTX 1080ti | Corsair 1000HX | Silverstone FT02-WRI | Nvidia 3D Vision Surround | Windows 10 Professional X64 Volair Sim Cockpit, Rift S, Saitek X-55 HOTAS, Saitek Pro Flight Rudder Pedals, Microsoft FF2, OE-XAM Bell 206 Collective, C-Tek anti-torque pedals UH-1, SA342, Mi-8, KA50, AV8B, P-51D, A-10C, L39, F86, Yak, NS-430, Nevada, Normandy, Persian Gulf

Once you register and put in your address. On the app you can go too ACESSS MY UPS CHOICES on the app it will tell you if your rift is shipping. I knew when my rift was due before oculus told me of tracking details. You don't need tracking number just your address. Give it a go. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
