What I need is a lift from the 50's into the 100's fps range for "some" scenarios in "some" airframes.

I really dont know if it is the CPU or GPU that bottlenecks it there. I should investigate before shelling out money in the wrong corner.

If I knew it would fix that " I AM DOWN TO 50 FPS WTF" I would consider buying it and passing my 980GTX to my son, still keeping the Gsynced 144Hz 1440p screen.

Once they are out and stable drivers around we will see how much faster DCS gets in the bottlenecks with already good performing setups.

This is moaning on a very high level btw and not really worth even 150 bucks imho, but my son keeps asking...LOL

Typically, When a Large amount of objects hit a scene at the same time, the DirectX Draw commands need to be processed by the CPU/DirectX Process and Fed to the GPU.

When Your FPS and GPU Usage Takes a Dive, it's because the CPU cannot process the DirectX Calls efficiently when they bombard the CPU and the GPU Starts to Idle waiting for them.

it will be so, it will need a better server, as the packets online won't keep up and then the only way to run online will be through dedicated server setups , as the weakpoints of gaming shift from different components..... make this better ands that lags,, then that gets better and something else lags... the pursuits of the holodeck future...

Nvidia just isn't competitive in there prices given what they offer. You can get the same from and for half the price. Heck, even if and is slight slower you'll never see $300 worth of improvement on an nvidia card. It's just not worth it.

It depends on what you mean... for example, my GTX780 cost me 750$ when it was new

The GTX1080 is over twice as fast as my 780, and costs 600$. damn near 1/3 the cost per frame.

To me, a GTX980ti makes no sense at all to buy, because it's slower than the 1080, has a smaller frame buffer, uses more power, and costs more.

and anything less than a 980ti just doesn't have enough performance to make it worth upgrading from my 780.

Until there's a card with the performance of the 1080, that costs less than the 1080, there is no competition, only lesser cards and more expensive options such as sli and cf.

so the 1080 is an awesome card for people with a system like mine.

Well after installing Homefront: Revolution and attempting to run it in 4K, I can see I will now be upgrading. It taxes the twin Titan X cards very heavily and can't run even a bit lower graphic settings at a consistent 2160p/60

Such is the bleeding edge. Time to upgrade.

How credible is this funny accented Youtube expert?

He is pretty good. Knows his stuff and points out obvious BS from both red and green camp. The smart play is 1080ti or Vega. Luckily AMD has async compute which nvidia does not natively. They could brute force it. Hopefully this keeps nvidia in check regarding prices and its anti consumer tactics.

I find that ironic, they paper launch so far ahead of AMD, and Push out press review copies, but you likely wont get one for another 60 days.

People who pre-order the card here in Norway will have their card shipped to them on June 10 as far as I can tell (at least from some online stores).

I'm on for one, hold out and sit tight though ....the best is yet to come

give it another month or two , custom boards will hit the market with more power and maybe less cost no trouble with availability on launch

watercooled , x2 power inlets higher power versions maybe 2.5ghz or close achievable
