Update 3:

 

I am very happy to announce that the whole campaign is a full success! This morning we've crossed the $3,000 mark! This means that I will continue working on this DLC right away to make it T4 ready! The release of this update will be provided for free.

 

I have to say that I am really proud that I am part of this great community. You all proved yourself in having an extraordinary team spirit. I also want to thank Wags and Kuky for supporting me with this project until the end. Furthermore, a big thank you to all users who helped me out by creating alternative download links and torrents.

 

You are awesome!

ABSOLUTELY!!!! These textures should be part of the map by default. It would make things simpler when updates are pushed out that might affect the DLC. ED should compensate Starway to work his magic on the NTTR map as well. There has to be a way to make this viable financially for all parties concerned as well as fair to the customer.

Now with smoke off its not so bad stutters here and there with smoke on its terrible, Again not sure if its starways mod or a Razbam bug?

 

Edit: Its worse over trees (Aslo pc specs in sig)

 

Don't know about the smoke bit but I was getting some stutters the first time I use the mod - particularly over trees. I used Mustang's no tree shadow mod and this helped things for me. Everything is a lot smoother now. I have flat shadows switched on in the graphic options too which probably wasn't helping originally but it's fine to keep on with Mustang's mod I think.

Does the Tree Mod replace the new Trees by starway or does it just remove the shadows?

 

I think it just removes the shadows.

 

As far as I can see the tree mod updates files here:

 

C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\Mods\terrains\CaucasusBase\Structures\High\EDM

 

Starway's mod updates files in the Mods folder here:

 

C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\Mods\terrains\CaucasusBase\vfstextures

I have stuck in the new 1080 gtx without the tree mod and installed starway textures and no stutters :thumbup:

Hello guys , Inside the starway new texture there is a folder called (vfstextures ) inside that folder there are Ziped files , Do I need to Unzip all those file before I install the mode in order to work .

Here's what I think should happen...

 

1. ED should make starways work the normal texture. I remember hearing that it was beyond what they were orginally planning to upgrade for the caucuses. If this is true, it could help them get 2.5 out faster

 

2. Starway should leave his donation open and ED should promote donating to help him out even more. That way even when the donations have slowed down he can still get a little extra.

 

Everyone wins!

Can you share any info on what ED's been doing to the Caucasus map to get it to the T4 level? We keep hearing about the updated mesh, but to what extent? Also, are the airfields getting some added details, too?

One question, can you see better than before the tanks, APC, etc using the SU25 tv?

Amazing Texture pack Starway, very impressed. I'm having a problem with the textures for the beacons around the airports though, showing a red and white check pattern (assuming missing texture as some parts are in green).

I did a fresh install of DCS last night to make sure there wasn't a conflict with a mod I had previously installed and only reapplied your textures and the issue was still there.

It's not a major issue as it only seems to effect the airport beacons but thought I'ld let you know.

Amazing job, Starway.

 

I also have a question: tree shadows disappear when view distance is close, reappearing when far. This only happens for trees around villages/cities. Forests are fine. No other mods installed, using Flat Shadows OFF. The issue isn't there with Flat Shadows ON. I'm on DCSW Open Beta. Any ideas?

That's not about missing textures; it's about added realism, as many airfield radars/navaids (mobile or fixed) are painted in red/white. I am glad that Starway included those liveries! :)
