If Starway gives it to ED, then it belongs to ED. If you give me your car, I can definitely claim that it is mine. I can assure you that ED is not going to distribute code that they do not control.

The comparison with the car is biased, you can't compare distributing software and distributing hardware!

Personnally I know I soon won't bother with JSGME and will revert to whatever textures ED distribute, just because when I play DCS I have only little time and I need something that works straight out of the box.

So I think that if Starway feels he has been sufficiently compensated it would be nice if he can work with ED to integrate the textures in the base map.

He can sign the proper legal agreements with ED to ensure he keeps the intellectual property.

btw. only Id like too see the new textures of asphalt on runways/airstrips in Starway mod.

They are too bright for me (sometimes looks like white).

I don't believe that Starway made any changes to the runways, etc.

See my earlier post, showing the missing textures on the runway/taxiway in Sukhimi; that was caused by my error in moving original DCS texture zip files out of the DCS main terrains sub-folder.

I got the missing texture error when I only used Starway's zip files in the vfstextures sub-folder.

Are you asking Starway to make them different?

I'm not sure I am addressing your post correctly; I may be misunderstanding you.

Totally right, the runways need some retouch.

Right now I am working on a first update for the 1.5 set with minor tweaks, including new textures for runways. Should be ready for release around monday next week.

I like the texture pack, but there is still room for a little t improvement.

This is my subjective opinion, so don't get all angry if you disagree. Just trying to be contructive,

The mountain texture has a big patch of shadow that is very visible and become repetitious. The noise_1 base texture looks good from medium altitude but I find it a bit blurry at lower altitude and golf-course plain at higher altitude. This is the toughest nut to crack, but both the latest Bartek and Mustang have found good compromises (Off course- it can never be perfect, given the mesh) There WILL be repetiotion, given the overuse of the texture in the mesh- so its all about compromise.

Some aifields also seemed to stand out/not blend so well (Kholki f.ex)

The towns, cities, and forests are wonderful. As is the far textures, the colouring tone and the cultivated fields.

All in all- a lovely addon with some room for improvement.

I really like the new textures but for they cost 5FPS over the textures I was using (I was also using the old land noise settings provided by Mustang after the event change to vis settings by ED).

So I will be looking at ways of reducing the settings slightly to gain these frames back without losing too much of the eye candy.

System Specs: i7 8700k @ 5.0GHz (not delidded), ASRock Extreme4 Z370 MOBO, EVGA GTX 1080 SC 8GB, 32GB Corsair Vengeance LPX 3200MHz DDR4 RAM, Samsung Evo 240GB SSD, Samsung Evo 500GB SSD, 1TB HDD, Noctura NH-D15S Heat Sink, Acer VE278H 27" 1080p Monitor, Ocukus Rift CV1.

Controllers: TrackIR 5, Thrustmaster HOTAS X, Saitek Throttle Quadrant (with DIY removable collective mod), Saitek Pro Flight Rudder Pedals.

Just trying to keep my number of takeoffs and landings equal!

I also have a question: tree shadows disappear when view distance is close, reappearing when far. This only happens for trees around villages/cities. Forests are fine. No other mods installed, using Flat Shadows OFF. The issue isn't there with Flat Shadows ON. I'm on DCSW Open Beta. Any ideas?

Guys, sorry for the self-bump. Is anyone else having this issue?

Starway,

Could you recommend a lower setting for land noise for those of us with less capable cards?

Thanks again for all of your efforts.

When it comes to performance, it is always a bit difficult to give a ultimate solution due to all the different systems on the other end.

What definitely takes a lot of performance are high tree draw distance, civil traffic and flat shadows off. I would play around with these options.

Yes I have this issue as well.

There's always performance/quality trade offs (or we'd all be running with 1cm resolution land meshes and high-resolution satellite photography for textures ) - and there's always "bugs" that need to be ironed out on roll-out (one person can't test every square centimeter).

So we can probably expect some update versions, and maybe situations where we want to downshift out of this Mod when we want performance over visuals (hence it's a good idea to use JSGME).

Still - this is an excellent Mod, and I'm loving flying over the Caucuses, just for the scenery :)

Best $ to enjoyment ratio I've spent on DCS in a long time.
