Bushmanni Posted July 24, 2016 Posted July 24, 2016 Amongst the wind noise you can hear clank and clonk noises like railroad car going over welds on a track. I don't know what the sound actually is but it's annoying. DCS Finland: Suomalainen DCS yhteisö -- Finnish DCS community -------------------------------------------------- SF Squadron
Chris75 Posted July 24, 2016 Posted July 24, 2016 (edited) I'm experiencing the same problem. At first i thought it was triggered by the movement of the flaps (set to automatic). But I observed it also when the flaps were not adjusting. Edited July 24, 2016 by Chris75
El Hadji Posted July 24, 2016 Posted July 24, 2016 It also disappears when you pass the sound barrier. Strange if the sound is caused by something inside the plane. Essah Posted July 24, 2016 Posted July 24, 2016 It also disappears when you pass the sound barrier. Strange if the sound is caused by something inside the plane. why? When you are moving faster than sound, wouldn't it make sense that all sound with source located behind you would be silent as the sound of it never reaches you? 1
Shahdoh Posted July 24, 2016 Posted July 24, 2016 That would apply to sound outside the aircraft. Vibrations causing noise coming through the airframe and other noises in the cockpit would not be affected.

Akatsuki Posted July 25, 2016 Posted July 25, 2016 I would really like to know what's that sound as well, because yes, it is annoying.
autogyro Posted July 25, 2016 Posted July 25, 2016 It seems to me they sound like mechanical bump stops for the stabilators. I'll have to test some more but they seem linked to pitch authority.
skypirate Posted July 25, 2016 Posted July 25, 2016 The bumps are one of the sounds I would like to know more about. But I believe what the OP is referencing is the so called "train" sound which is mixed with the wind sound and can be a bit distracting at times. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]Regards!

S-GERAT Posted July 25, 2016 Posted July 25, 2016 Maybe is something related with the engine ? Yesterday while watching an air show from the Spanish acrobatic group with the C-101's I can hear similar sounds in various moments.. something similar to a compressor stall..
golani79 Posted July 25, 2016 Posted July 25, 2016 Same sound effect here. Looks like there is something inside washing machine ^^ Haha .. yesterday I was asking my buddy if he also heard those strange noises and he only replied with no and asked if I had a washing machine in my cockpit :megalol: I also thought it was the flaps or the aux air intakes but everytime I hear those sounds nothing changes with flaps / air intakes. Some pump might be a good guess I think. >> DCS liveries by golani79 <<

Some pump might be a good guess I think. Yeah I thought it was one of those two initially, but it doesn't seem to be. Seems to occur a bit more when maneuvering/ jinking about, so I'm still of the mind that it may be linked to the "auto wing" system?? Disconcerting to having something lose in the back though. :)

f4l0 Posted July 25, 2016 Posted July 25, 2016 The sound you hear is coming from the gear. I noticed this during development of the F-5E support fro SimShaker. Thisdale Posted July 25, 2016 Posted July 25, 2016 Ahaha just did a flight and heard it too. ricktoberfest Posted July 25, 2016 Posted July 25, 2016 Ahaha just did a flight and heard it too. It's the side Engine Slats that open/close. That makes more sense to me as I hear it when I start the engines Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Thisdale Posted July 25, 2016 Posted July 25, 2016 Don't hear anything in flight when the aux doors open/close... That might depend on the Environment Sound level (Mine's at 80% with Helmet Noise On). http://www.youtube.com/konotani Computer Specs: Z97X-gaming Mobo 4670k i5 24G DDR3 GTX 1080 Asus PG278Q Rog Swift 27-INCH G-SYNC Valve Index Thrustmaster Warthog Fanatec Clubsport Pedals (used as Rudders) Thrustmaster T300 Arcantera Wheel Obutto R3volution rig
Thisdale Posted July 25, 2016 Posted July 25, 2016 That makes more sense to me as I hear it when I start the engines Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Reconsidering this, it might be the Auto Flaps as well (the flaps extending/retracting). I've noticed the noise mostly happens at certain speeds around the 300knm speeds... http://www.youtube.com/konotani Computer Specs: Z97X-gaming Mobo 4670k i5 24G DDR3 GTX 1080 Asus PG278Q Rog Swift 27-INCH G-SYNC Valve Index Thrustmaster Warthog Fanatec Clubsport Pedals (used as Rudders) Thrustmaster T300 Arcantera Wheel Obutto R3volution rig
Thisdale Posted July 25, 2016 Posted July 25, 2016 Update. Definitely not the flaps. Pretty sure its the Engine slats, when they close. However, when landed and shutting down, no sound of them closing. So, errmm. http://www.youtube.com/konotani Computer Specs: Z97X-gaming Mobo 4670k i5 24G DDR3 GTX 1080 Asus PG278Q Rog Swift 27-INCH G-SYNC Valve Index Thrustmaster Warthog Fanatec Clubsport Pedals (used as Rudders) Thrustmaster T300 Arcantera Wheel Obutto R3volution rig
Kelevra9987 Posted July 25, 2016 Posted July 25, 2016 I don't think thats the Aux-Airdoors or Slats or Flaps. Maybe it's indeed the Landing-Gear bumping into the airframe. Because you can reproduce the Sound. To eliminate the Airdoors, Slats and Flaps, take a clean A/C at Angels 10, Mil-Power and just pull for a moments notice on the stick and let go. That way you have more-than-1G-Load on your A/C and you will hear the "Bump-Noise". Repeat it as long as you want. :) Greetings Kelevra Modules: Well... all of 'em ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Motherboard: ASUS Maximus VIII Hero | CPU: i7-6700K @ 4.6GHz | RAM: 32GB Corsair Vengance LPX DDR4 | GPU: GTX TITAN X (Maxwell) | SSD1: 256GB NVMe SSD System | SSD2: 250GB Games | HDD 4TB WD Red
Weltensegler Posted July 26, 2016 Posted July 26, 2016 I think we may talk about two different sounds in this thread. One sound sounds similar to the bumps when the F15 afterburner (e.G) kicks in and happens often but not frequently and the other is a constant rattling like a belt buckle in a wash machine. The second one is barely to hear with helmet mode. 4790K@4,6Ghz | EVGA Z97 Classified | 32GB @ 2400Mhz | Titan X hydro copper| SSD 850 PRO ____________________________________ Moments in DCS: --> https://www.youtube.com/user/weltensegLA --> WELD's cockpit: --> http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=92274
diditopgun Posted December 12, 2016 Posted December 12, 2016 Hi ! This noise is still present since the first release. I don't like this noise (irritating for ears) but maybe it's realistic. It would be nice to have a word from Belsimtek to know if it's normal or a sound bug ?:dunno: [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Intel I7 8700K / RTX 3080 / 32Go DDR4 PC21300 G.Skill Ripjaws V / MSI Z370 Gaming Pro Carbon / Cooler Master Silent Pro Gold - 1000W / Noctua NH-D14 / Acer XB270HUDbmiprz 27" G-synch 144Hz / SSD Samsung 860EVO 250Go + 1To / Cooler Master HAF X / Warthog+VPC WarBRD / Thrustmaster TPR / Track-IR v5 + Track Clip Pro / Windows 11 64bits.
belsimtek Posted November 8, 2017 Posted November 8, 2017 Hi guys! Our community manager reproduced bug which you refer as "wash machine sounds". We are bringing it to ED attention for further testing as it is looks like sound coming outside of the cockpit. For now, try to set all sliders in sound options menu to 100% and tell us if sound still persists. Looks like it should disappear after "world" slider goes over 60%.
