MegOhm_SD Posted November 19, 2016 Posted November 19, 2016 I would take better AI anyday over eyecandy details. :P Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk AI behavior improvement would be fantastic....but until then, eyecandy is how we get a more pleasing and immersive environment rather than a washed out boring world. Can you imagine the complaining if we were still flying to with "old school" graphics? Ugh.... Hopefully, AI will be addressed in the not to distant future. All for that! cthulhu68 Posted November 19, 2016 Posted November 19, 2016 In the update notes says: Single player missions added. What missions are those?? I cant see any mission for the F-5  I'm guessing they copy/pasted 1.5.5 changelog and forgot to delete this. New missions are inn Caucasus map.
rrohde Posted November 19, 2016 Posted November 19, 2016 (edited) I would take better AI anyday over eyecandy details. :P Asking for accurate - and thus believable environments is hardly eye candy; it's consistency. To me consistency equals quality. Heck, even the old Caucasus map has road bridges that have ... wait for it ... support columns. ;) You know, these things here: Edited November 19, 2016 by rrohde PC: AMD Ryzen 9 5950X | MSI Suprim GeForce 3090 TI | ASUS Prime X570-P | 128GB DDR4 3600 RAM | 2TB Samsung 870 EVO SSD | Win10 Pro 64bit Gear: HP Reverb G2 | JetPad FSE | VKB Gunfighter Pro Mk.III w/ MCG Ultimate VKBcontrollers.com
Rocky49 Posted November 19, 2016 Posted November 19, 2016 I am somewhat concerned that the last few patches have an such a negative effect on VR. Now with 2.4 it is totally unplayable with the Oculus with frame rates around 13-27 even with pixel density turned way down to 1.4 from 2.2. In fact, changing pixel density seems to have no effect on frame rates. I also installed the newest "hot fix" driver from Nvidia which made no difference in DCS. performance in 1.5.5 or 2.4. When I run 2.4 with my TIR frame rates at Nellis, in Huey mission are 140. I would say that the issue lays within the Oculus runtime version 1.10 in particular the ASW function and our inability to turn it off, etc. Hopefully this issue will get some priority System:Motherboard Asus ROG Strix Z390-E,Asus ROG GeForce RTX 2080Ti OC, GPU, 32GB Corsair Vengeance DDR4 Ram, Intel i9 9900K @ 5 GHz , cooled by NZXT Kraken X52, Acer XB270HU G-Sinc monitor, Windows 10 Pro, Warthog joystick and throttle with wasy extension, VBK Gunfighter Pro and MCG Pro,MFG Rudder, running on a dedicated 1TB Samsung 970 Pro M2 Nvme , Super Wheel Stand Pro, with a HP Reverb G2

Art-J Posted November 19, 2016 Posted November 19, 2016 For what it's worth, apparently the newest NVidia hotfix cured the memory throttling bug of some 10xx cards (at least it's supposed to do that), so either make sure You get that one, or install something a couple of weeks older. i7 9700K @ stock speed, single GTX1070, 32 gigs of RAM, TH Warthog, MFG Crosswind, Win10.

ED Team NineLine Posted November 20, 2016 ED Team Posted November 20, 2016 I noticed it in the video.... And it looks terrible. It just looks like a bunch of random camera flashes from random sources. Its probably a WIP dont you think? Feedback like this isnt helpful, look at the bigger picture, things like this are helping with spotting of aircraft. I mean lets use a bit of a filter, if you see something, and it looks like it needs work, and its not in the release version yet, its safe to assume they are still tuning. That would be a pretty cool way to finally solve the model issue, at least for close in aircraft. CloD with the Team Fusion patch does the sun on canopy flash. Ala12Rv-watermanpc Posted November 20, 2016 Posted November 20, 2016 I agree about both things, it doesnt look very good in the video (I guess its due to the fact it wasnt using the new lighting because the effect looked amazing in screens) but of course its WIP so nothing to say  Also, Its something that for sure would be very nice for spotting planes but also its something that needs to be really well done, otherwise, it will look awful and odd if not done right (personally, I dont like how its made in Il2, but being a comunity work, of course its well apreciated) Take a look at my MODS here
PicksKing Posted November 20, 2016 Posted November 20, 2016 I really like this effect. Only the frequency should be a little lower. So fewer flashes per time. Another thing I saw is the slow movement of water. If you use time lapse while looking on water, it looks better. USSInchon Posted November 20, 2016 Posted November 20, 2016 One change I am glad to see is the terrain elevations at the airports has been fixed. No longer do I fear falling off the cliffs at Creech and Groom.
rrohde Posted November 20, 2016 Posted November 20, 2016 BTW - I noticed a much greater GPU utilization in the new NTTR compared to the old one; flying towards LV downtown saw my GUP usage jump as high as 80% at times, all the while delivering a smooth 60 fps. Thanks ED for the great optimization so far! PC: AMD Ryzen 9 5950X | MSI Suprim GeForce 3090 TI | ASUS Prime X570-P | 128GB DDR4 3600 RAM | 2TB Samsung 870 EVO SSD | Win10 Pro 64bit Gear: HP Reverb G2 | JetPad FSE | VKB Gunfighter Pro Mk.III w/ MCG Ultimate VKBcontrollers.com
rrohde Posted November 20, 2016 Posted November 20, 2016 I really like this effect. Only the frequency should be a little lower. So fewer flashes per time. Wouldn't the frequency depend on the angled, reflective surfaces that are encountered at a time? PicksKing Posted November 20, 2016 Posted November 20, 2016 Wouldn't the frequency depend on the angled, reflective surfaces that are encountered at a time? The frequency depends on the spectators speed and yes also on the number of reflective surfaces. But these surfaces reflect the light in many many different directions. No all in the direction of the spectator. Only very few. So the chance to "hit" a reflection while flying over a parking area is not that big, I guess. shagrat Posted November 20, 2016 Posted November 20, 2016 Wouldn't the frequency depend on the angled, reflective surfaces that are encountered at a time? That is the problem. Too many cars parked in perfect lines showing the same angled glass surface towards the player. Now, as much as I love the new effect in general, as a means to spot aircraft, I would also like to see the frequency in car parks reduced, and maybe toned down a little. As currently it looks a bit overdone. But as Sith said, work in progress, so let's wait until this is introduced into DCS 2.0. Maybe by then it is already optimized. If not, I guess our feedback is appreciated, together with suggestions how to make the most out of this feature. A simple "looks ugly" isn't helpful. rrohde Posted November 20, 2016 Posted November 20, 2016 Since the new NTTR is still considered alpha, are we possibly seeing the "promised" additional casinos later as well? Maybe my pet-peev of road bridges not having supporting columns is also still being addressed then? For some reason I thought this new NTTR version was the final version...
