bkthunder Posted October 20, 2016 Posted October 20, 2016 I like the F-5 a lot and would like to buy it. Any idea when it will be released, bug-free and feature complete? 1 Windows 10 - Intel i7 7700K 4.2 Ghz (no OC) - Asus Strix GTX 1080 8Gb - 16GB DDR4 (3000 MHz) - SSD 500GB + WD Black FZEX 1TB 6Gb/s
Pocket Sized Posted October 20, 2016 Posted October 20, 2016 See my signature ;) DCS modules are built up to a spec, not down to a schedule. In order to utilize a system to your advantage, you must know how it works.

LeCuvier Posted October 21, 2016 Posted October 21, 2016 I like the F-5 a lot and would like to buy it. Any idea when it will be released, bug-free and feature complete? I bought the F-5E in May and have logged a good number of flight hours with it. No it's not perfect yet but it's very flyable and I like it. And although it's still in Beta most of its systems work and you can learn to handle it. Bug-free? If that's a prerequisite for buying software I'm afraid you'll never buy any. I've dealt with software - often mission-critical - during most of my 44-year career, and I've never seen one that was bug-free. bkthunder Posted October 21, 2016 Author Posted October 21, 2016 Well, I didn't want to get anyone so worked-up... seems that buying a finished product is really out of fashion around here huh? Well, it'll be finished when it's finished. And I'll buy it when it's finished (or on discount :P) Windows 10 - Intel i7 7700K 4.2 Ghz (no OC) - Asus Strix GTX 1080 8Gb - 16GB DDR4 (3000 MHz) - SSD 500GB + WD Black FZEX 1TB 6Gb/s

Well, it'll be finished when it's finished. And I'll buy it when it's finished (or on discount :P) Thing is, that most (all?) modules here (as most other software) never gets finished. So like LeCuvier said: If that's a prerequisite for buying software I'm afraid you'll never buy any. Cibit Posted October 21, 2016 Posted October 21, 2016 I don't think you will be disappointed if you bought it now. Belsimtek have been here before with beta aircraft, most major features are complete before we get the chance to buy. Nothing I have found that is bad or bugged in my one week of flying it. NeilWillis Posted October 21, 2016 Posted October 21, 2016 Are we to assume you currently use the Steam version of DCS World? If so, then it will be a case of waiting until they are prepared to release it. This is probably the biggest draw back of Steam and DCS World, and not something that will change any time soon. If however you have the stand alone version of DCS World, it is currently available as a Beta release, but as has already been stated, it is virtually feature complete, and I definitely don't advise you to wait until it is out of Beta before purchasing. Go for it, you will not regret it.

Absolutely my favorite jet to fly, no doubt. I highly recommend this module to anyone who's looking for a fun aircraft to fly and fight with. :pilotfly:
bkthunder Posted October 21, 2016 Author Posted October 21, 2016 No I'm not on steam, and yes, I've bought virtually all modules in beta, and almost all of them are still in beta. Some are more polished than others. As per Belsimtek releasing great betas, well, sometimes yes, other times I've been bitterly disappointed. Bought a beta at full price and never flew it because it had glaring bugs. Could've just wait till the "release" and buy it finished at a fraction of the price. The thing is, free time is limited for me, and I have many modules. It's already hard to enjoy all of them equally due to this and, frankly speaking, I don't want to support the never-ending-beta business model anymore, especially since I value my little free time and have absolutely 0 interest in spending it with a non-polished product. I hear you saying this is a good beta release, and I believe you. Well, I hope it'll then move on to a good final release soon.
