I am surprised no one has talked about the "better copy protection" Wags mentioned in the Spitfire over Normandy video (if there is a discussion about it in another thread please link it for me). I think an overhaul of the current copy protection would be great, especially if it includes a deactivate all button. Wags also mentioned "better GY" (I think that's what he said). What is "GY"?

'GY' probably is 'GUI' which is Graphical User Interface. The GUI in the Normandy Closed Alpha looks different but I did not pay enough attention to it to notice what may have changed. It still needs to scale to the resolution of the display (since I use a 4k monitor that is a big deal to me).

Hoping we get to see some update on both the Su-33 and MiG-29 PFM, kinda curious if they're on hold if the guys are basically fulltime on the F/A-18 at this point.

Yes, an overhaul of the license/activation system has been announced last year, but informations were pretty scare. Great to hear that it is still beeing worked on.

I smell 2.1 going into Open Alpha - not Normandy, today. Giving them a few weeks to squeeze some bugs before the Normandy release.

- Jack of many DCS modules, master of none.

- Personal wishlist: F-15A, F-4S Phantom II, JAS 39A Gripen, SAAB 35 Draken, F-104 Starfighter, Panavia Tornado IDS.

I have to say I'm a bit disappointed in the growing trend I've noticed where giveaways are requiring people to have a facebook account or something similar. I have never had nor will I have have a facebook account, twitter account, etc. I prefer to do it the old fashioned way by sharing things directly with my friends/family instead of the world... guess I've always been more of a private person. So old farts like myself will never get an opportunity to take part in these giveaways. Which is probably a moot point as I tend to buy stuff as soon as it goes up for preorder if I have any interest in it. So good luck to all you facebookers out there!

ED understand that not everyone uses social media, however a huge audience can be found on there and sharing information can be done at the push of a button reaching potentially thousands.

There will be future competitions that wont be on social media I am sure, so do not worry.

@BIGNEWY, I understand the reasons for it and I'm not faulting them only expressing my displeasure at the trend, non-social media contests are going to be much fewer and farther between as this is the tendency with most if not all companies, not just ED. I know expressing my opinion will not change anything in the least, so don't mind me, been a crappy day and I'm just venting my sour mood. ;)

Please note that the DCS: M-2000C, and all future DCS World DLC releases on Steam, will now use Steam Keys instead of Starforce keys. As such, these purchases cannot be activated on the DCS World e-Shop version. Previous purchases will not be affected.

Well this sucks for some people and I hope they make a disclaimer on all Steam purchases so no one misses this. Probably should be a separate post somewhere here from DCS official in case someone misses the email or post.

I'm turning 60, so probably I'm an old fart too ... but I have not one, but two Facebook accounts ... one is for maintaining contact with family and close friends; the other is for not-so-close friends and everyone else that asks me for my facebook accounts (like ED's :) )

On the first one, I have turned on all privacy options that FB allows, and never install any games or FB freebies on this account ... the other one still has all the privacy options turned on, but I'm not overly careful with it, since it doesnt contain any photo or true data about myself.

The first one is linked to my personal e-mai; the second one is linked to a gmail account that I created just for this purpose and use nowhere else.

By entering the Facebook competition, you are spreading the word about DCS World to a wider audience. Why WOULDN'T ED make the competition exclusive to Facebook account holders?

Jeez, call yourself the red baron in your temporary Facebook account if you have objections to being sociable in the modern world. Use it exclusively for ED competition entries. Simple really.
