joebloggs Posted March 18, 2017 Posted March 18, 2017 I have just reinstalled DCS World after deactivating all my modules and doing a clean install of Windows 10. After I finished installing the maps I then saw a screen with all the ticks in to install my modules I purchased. But now these are asking for my serial keys that I haven't written down? I thought they just installed by recognising my computer? Please don't tell me I'll be expected to purchase all these again? Where do I find my serial keys to all these modules? Thanks!
dburne Posted March 18, 2017 Posted March 18, 2017 (edited) Doesn't the Module Manager have a " Show Serial" option you can select for the modules you own? Or maybe you have to log into your account on DCS site to get to it? joebloggs Posted March 18, 2017 Author Posted March 18, 2017 (edited) I can't seem to activate the Hawk or Nevada map now. I found the other serials in my account but the Hawk isn't there and I'm having trouble installing Nevada. Isn't there an easier way to install all this stuff? It seems a bit over complicated? I've been on with it now for the best part of three hours. I've just activated all the modules for the Caucaus Map and now I'm having to do the same thing for the Nevada map. I've also got to download them all again for the Nevada map? which takes the best part of half hour. Why am I having to download them all again for Nedada and activate them? Art-J Posted March 18, 2017 Posted March 18, 2017 (edited) Keys are stored in Windows registry, so If You reinstalled Windows, that wiped them out, obviously. You can always check them in Your user account information in ED shop, however (just log in and check the tabs on the left). Edit: Ah, OK, I see You've figured it out already. Not entirely, the DCS installer/updater is pretty clever, and will copy the assets from other installed versions of DCS, providing the individual files are the correct version it needs. Kaliphtan Posted March 18, 2017 Posted March 18, 2017 Hum, i think key are in the mail when bought , or in the DCS site : https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com , after go on profile then detail ( of the purchase)

You shouldn't have to download all the module files again, as the installer should detect Your existing 1.5.6 install and copy as many aircraft files from it as it can. That's how it's programmed to save time and bandwidth (obviously, if the 2.0.5 contains some updates compared to 1.5.6, than these newer files will have to be downloaded form ED server anyway, but it should be smaller part of the whole content). And You certainly shouldn't have to reactivate anything, as Your keys have been written in the registry already when You installed 1.5.6. That being said, Hawk is known for causing a myriad of weird issues, and Nevada doesn't always "cooperate" from the get go either. Try again after reboot. i7 9700K @ stock speed, single GTX1070, 32 gigs of RAM, TH Warthog, MFG Crosswind, Win10.
joebloggs Posted March 18, 2017 Author Posted March 18, 2017 @Buzzles - I'm telling you I'm having to download all the modules again for Nevada. I'm doing it now. I've just followed what I thought was a simple install. 1.5 DCS all modlues all activations. Now when I start 2.0 it asks me to download them all again and no doubt activate them all again. It said I didn't have the terrain and I thought it would just ask ne for the Nevada serial but it didn't. It wants me to download all Modules again. I bought the Hawk of the devs site because i thought it was going to be integrated into DCS which it has been. I never knew I had to write down the serial for just one Jet.

joebloggs Posted March 18, 2017 Author Posted March 18, 2017 Oh, yeah, it'll say you have to download them. It won't though behind the scenes. Well that green loading bar is taken an awful long time to load whatever it's loading. It ticked all my Modules to download again.

joebloggs Posted March 18, 2017 Author Posted March 18, 2017 (edited) @grunf - I don't have the login details to their site. I just purchased because I thought it was going to be a part of DCS and I could activate it there. I'm downloading the modules again now at snails pace. By the looks of the download rate it's going to be about 4 hours and then God only knows what it's going to say when I try to start the Nevada Map again. This has taken nearing on 4 hours now and I wanted to finish the rest of my windows install tonight. Download speed is 0.7 MBs. I really want to just cancel the Download at this point but I'm not sure what will happen if I do that. Edited March 18, 2017 by joebloggs
joebloggs Posted March 18, 2017 Author Posted March 18, 2017 (edited) What will happen if I just cancel the download now? Will it make me reinstall all the modules at a later date when I can be bothered with this? This is going so slow it's almost not downloading. grunf Posted March 18, 2017 Posted March 18, 2017 The download should resume from where it left off. But the Nevada will take a long time to download at that speed, it's 20+GB IIRC. Regarding the Hawk, do you remember the mail you used to login? You can reset the password or contact the VEAO guys. Perhaps you can find the key in your email inbox. I just looked at mine (gmail), and there it is, after more than a year.

shagrat Posted March 18, 2017 Posted March 18, 2017 Do you have a Backup of the HDD/SSD with DCS on it? You could try to copy the complete 2.x to the correct place and do a DCS repair. As long as the modules are already activated on your PC it will likely work without issues. joebloggs Posted March 18, 2017 Author Posted March 18, 2017 (edited) Http is just as bad I'm getting 1.2MBs on http. I've just cancelled download and installing map again because it said I didn't have terrain. I've opted to just install one module not the 8 or 9 I own and it's still going to take many hours. This really isn't good they need to come up with something that stops this. I've owned DCS for a long time and this is the worst experience I've had of installing a sim that I've know. joebloggs Posted March 18, 2017 Author Posted March 18, 2017 @shagrat - Unfortunately, I don't. I got a corrupt OS and thought it best to delete everything and start again.
shagrat Posted March 18, 2017 Posted March 18, 2017 Ouch time! Than you'll have to go through downloading Nevada again. The map is quite big, unfortunately. Yet, the modules should be copied over from 1.5.6 and only some files downloaded. I recommend to do it module per module, after you downloaded and activated Nevada. NB: I have re-downloaded 1.5 and 2.0 but nothing else. First, deactivate all your aircrafts, purchased campaigns and terrains, from your old pc (keep in mind that some are in your dcs 2.0 and others on 1.5) Then copy from the old pc to the new: the program files\eagle dynamics file subtree; and the users\saved games\dcs subtree (both 1.5 and 2.0) Finally, on the new pc run a 'dcsupdater repair' both on 1.5 and on 2.0; so that it will check if your copied dcs is really complete. Then, when you start dcs on the new pc, activate all your aircrafts, campaigns and terrains. :) For work: iMac mid-2010 of 27" - Core i7 870 - 6 GB DDR3 1333 MHz - ATI HD5670 - SSD 256 GB - HDD 2 TB - macOS High Sierra For Gaming: 34" Monitor - Ryzen 3600 - 32 GB DDR4 2400 - nVidia RTX2080 - SSD 1.25 TB - HDD 10 TB - Win10 Pro - TM HOTAS Cougar Mobile: iPad Pro 12.9" of 256 GB
