Okay...then what is the cause for Normandy's instability? I always thought it was the trees, because NTTR ran smooth and was a treeless landscape, and Normandy had many trees and would have some issues.

I've always wondered if it was related to the recently added (last few months) line-of-sight logic where units can no longer see through trees. Having several units of opposing force seems to cause some stutter for me in Normandy where it doesn't in NTTR.

Everyone is worrying about the clouds. Guys, it is as you know WIP. Give them some time. They are already a huge improvement, but more stuff will come after a while.

WIP clouds is difficult to understand for those with clouded judgement.

The clouds pictured in the more recent 2.5 images are simply updated versions of the current cloud system. We think this intermediate version looks much better than what we have now, and will serve nicely as a the new cloud technology is developed.

Thanks

That's a GREAT news Matt!!!, thanks a lot for the info :)

I'm starting to think that the new old Caucasus will be the best map in DCS :)

IMO the old Caucasus is already the best map, not only in DCS but in all sims I've played. As has been said, it has everything: mountains, valleys, plane areas, urban areas, sea, lakes, etc. The visual technology is outdated, but it still looks awesome. The only thing that detracts from it really is the un-collideable trees that don't block AI view, but that's more of a problem if you fly choppers and almost ignorable if you fly jets, specially A2A.

I'm only afraid I'll loose FPS migrating from the old to the new Caucasus, since my FPS in urban areas of Nevada aren't that great and considering Caucasus also has lots of urban areas and MUCH MUCH more trees!

My DCS modding videos:

Modules I own so far:

Black Shark 2, FC3, UH-1H, M-2000C, A-10C, MiG-21, Gazelle, Nevada map

A little sneak peak. The fps Will slightly better then the actual one. Further ED implements vulcan API for a huge fps boost. So No Fear at all mate. Only benefits. We are looking forward. :D
