Precog Posted December 30, 2017 Posted December 30, 2017 Great to hear in the most recent newsletter 29/12/17 that VR is getting some improvements in the coming year. Personally, my VR wishlist for 2018 is: -Ability to teleport around the environment similar to xplane's recent implementation -Ability to import windows and interact with them (resize, scroll). Oculus dash allows this but is limited in functionality at the moment. -Pilot body's for those planes that don't have them e.g. A10c -Ability to write on a kneeboard or even better the canopy to write down notes such as the 9-line brief (Just like the real A-10 pilots). May require finger tracking - see below. -finger tracking/controller support. Although still a little clunky, but as other sims have shown, the ability to use controllers/fingers to flick switches/turn dials etc is a pretty compelling experience. I see this only getting better in the near future. It wont be long before we see finger tracking as a standard feature of future headsets. -Avatars synced in multiplayer. This is a long shot but when me and a buddy land after a multiplayer flight - it would be awesome if we could hop out of the plane and walk/teleport to a Bar/Room at each airport/carrier and debrief the flight. So the ability to brief/debrief/chat socially with synced avatars WITHOUT leaving DCS would be pretty awesome. What are your wishes for VR in DCS for 2018 and beyond? Would be elated to see any of the above, solid list my friend. For me, I also really wanted to be able to pull windows into my VR desktop (as stated in your first bullet), but Dash 2.0 does that just fine for me. Precog Posted December 30, 2017 Author Posted December 30, 2017 The issue with importing windows with DASH is you can't resize and move them around from within DCS. I wonder if this will be feasible down the track? Check out my 'real world' video series [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

Fri13 Posted December 31, 2017 Posted December 31, 2017 1) Integrated Leap Motion support in table, as VR mode (attached to VR HMD). If not anything else, then at least to be able move the mouse cursor around with finger and initiate LMB/RMB press and scrolling then with a HOTAS buttons. 2) Already a Oculus Touch controllers or Vive Wands (and others) are there, the problem is that they are a separated controllers. Requiring one to take hand off from the HOTAS and then grab one and start going around. Okay, it might not be so bad to do so with a throttle hand etc, but still the future requires something "non-controller" like a Oculus glove so we can grab HOTAS normally. 3) The virtual kneeboard so we can move it to stay up in the air. Yeah, floating kneeboard, we would move around by grabbing it and then placing as we want. but would be better than kneeboard or on edge of screen with the current HMD resolution limitations. 4) A "Wargame European Escalation" kind "IrisZoom" ground unit commanding that CA module should have. This time in VR so we can fly around the battlefield and just draw the commands for units. i7-8700k, 32GB 2666Mhz DDR4, 2x 2080S SLI 8GB, Oculus Rift S. i7-8700k, 16GB 2666Mhz DDR4, 1080Ti 11GB, 27" 4K, 65" HDR 4K.
cordite Posted December 31, 2017 Posted December 31, 2017 I thought the touch and wand controllers didn't work in DCS. So why have a "virtual hand" at all?
Precog Posted January 1, 2018 Author Posted January 1, 2018 Id also like the ability to resize the HUD display. For example, if you are seated in the correct position in the A10 you lose a good portion of the HUD. Check out my 'real world' video series [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

Mr_sukebe Posted January 1, 2018 Posted January 1, 2018 Same level of zoom as a monitor player. Don't care whether that's increasing zoom for VR user, or decreasing zoom for monitor players. I'd just like parity. EXACTLY.. so i just jumped onto my VR setup a minute ago to see whats it like to be in the Huey as doorgun (i just recently installed, before that i havent touched the huey in over a year) hoping for improvements, unfortunately it is till how it was over a year ago. it is still the same wrong situation, in which i have a minigun stuck to my face.. :( so i start up the uh-1h with my oculus headset. so cool that i can look around in the cockpit with the green tint glass above my head, and i can look all around my cyclic. BUT, i rearm with doorguns, switch to gunner position, and BAM, i have a doorgun stuck to my face. so, HANSANGB, you are right! we need: a) the doorgun to be decoupled from the camera view along with mappable axis assignments so i can control the doorgun with a mouse or JOYSTICK. b) doorgunner multiplayer slots!!! its the VR age now. i can look around the cockpit, look in close to the dash, look under and over my cyclic.. SHOULD BE THE SAME FOR THE DOOR GUN.. NOT STUCK TO MY FACE! find me on steam! username: Hannibal_A101A http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561197969447179

RAM usage would increase but in theory it shouldn't double if you can get both threads to share the RAM that is storing the models and textures. Are the devs reading this thread?

DayGlow Posted January 3, 2018 Posted January 3, 2018 I don't believe the Oculus or Steam VR runtime support SLI/Crossfire. DCS can't support it because neither system will. Their explanation is that there is too much latency in multi GPU environments. Gladman Posted January 3, 2018 Posted January 3, 2018 Good article here on SLI: https://www.pcworld.com/article/3071332/hardware/its-true-nvidias-geforce-gtx-1080-officially-supports-only-2-way-sli-setups.html Nvidia supports 2 way SLI but no longer supports 3 or 4 cards in SLI configuration. As pointed out, even that is irrelevant with ED not supporting even 2 way SLI. I had 2-780's at one point and it gave no value at all. Crysis, hell yeah, but not in DCS. At this point, I would say that 2 way SLI is more than enough if it were supported given the current inability to utilize multi-core CPU's. If we had both, life would be grand. i9 9900K @ 5.1Ghz - ASUS Maximus Hero XI - 32GB 4266 DDR4 RAM - ASUS RTX 2080Ti - 1 TB NVME - NZXT Kraken 62 Watercooling System - Thrustmaster Warthog Hotas (Virpil Base) - MFG Crosswind Pedals - Pimax 5K+ VFA-25 Fist Of The Fleet [sigpic]http://forums.eagle.ru/signaturepics/sigpic99190_2.gif[/sigpic] Virtual Carrier Strike Group 1 | Discord

I just need to get another Oculus Rift and 1080 Gtx so we can both enjoy VR. too add to the VR wishlist, im also going to say.. MORE Multiseat aircraft!!!! im happy for upcoming F14A/B and Mi24P, but wished it was Mi24V in game comms would be nice also!!!! i think that will help people that are new to DCS and coming from VR. you know how many times i would play Onward (a VR mil sim) and their would be a newbie who had no clue??? but put that newbie in DCS, he would be totally lost, not everyone installs SRS or Teamspeak.. thats a potential long term customer lost who gets discouraged given how powerful VR immersion, i think multiseat aircraft will promote teamwork. i am imagining A-6 intruder where you and a VR buddy side by side next to you doing tasks. helo doorgunners are a no brainer. sucks that its only a Mi24P with fixed gun.. the AH-1 Cobra better have a independent multiseat multiplayer slot and a player operated turret gun. i hope poly chop will bring news of the Ju87 stuka with a function playable gunner.. find me on steam! username: Hannibal_A101A http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561197969447179
