Sorry you are too late I installed the 1.5.8 Open Beta last week when it was still up for download.

I think you now need to wait an extra 24 hours for The full 2.5 Open Beta download.

Okay, here's my plan of action, divided into steps:

 

1-Wait for DCS World 2.5.0 Stable Release to become available for download on Standalone.

 

2-Uninstall and remove DCS World 1.5.8 (Stable/Release; Steam) and DCS World 2.2.0 (Open Alpha; Standalone).

 

3-Install 2.5 and all my modules.

if you've got 2.2, wait for 2.5 stable ---- upgrade

 

that will be the most *efficient* upgrade process because 2.5 uses files from 2.2 (therefore, smaller download)

Install 2.5 before you uninstall 2.2, so it can copy files and reduces the download size.

At the end of the installation of 2.5 you will be asked if you want to remove 2.2.

Just making sure: By "NTTR location" you actually mean the location of the Open Alpha installation? Because NTTR is just an optional map in the Open Alpha, which also can be Normandy as well.

I think that is mainly if you want to just keep a "legacy" version for a while.

Take your pick. The OB branch will be the first to be available to update.

 

I was in a similar position, I got rid of the Stable Release version and kept Open Beta.

Question for ya! Just installed a new SSD with a clean install of Windows 10 64bit in order to get ready for the new version... I want to do a new install of the Open Beta, but for the life of me cannot find the link to the Open Beta install. Has it been removed from the site, or am I a little slow?

hello, in my opinion,(bear in mind I am not a computer programmer), I would delete 1.5 stable. its going to be un supported anyway, the beta branch will give the earliest update. just be sure to back up saved games and the logbook for missions and stuff, then after the merge you can opt to keep 1.5.8 and revert back if you wanted to for some reason.

Can't find DCS World Open Beta download

 

Am I just missing it or has the Open Beta downloader been removed from the DCS site?

So if understand correctly 2.5 will not upgrade 2.2 it will be a third installation but it will transfer your modules from 2.2 but not from 1.5.

 

so once 2.5 is setup and working correctly 1.5 and 2.2 will need to be deleted freeing up space. I was hoping that iy would over write 2.2 and install everything from both 1.5 and 2.2 consolidating everything into one package but we will have to do that ourselves, I need to find a fast internet connection to redownload all my modules in to 2.5 once its released since I deleted 2.2 because of it hanging up at 57% to find out it was something in my saved games folder.

We had time enough! ED made this first announcement a month ago, so eveybody knew this, besides you are less interest as the fanatics here.

 

That's why you must have all versions up (if you can), so the installer can copy files from them and less downloadsize, so more room for the others. :D

 

Why do you think that the installer on the home site for Open Beta is removed. :D Think... :D

 

When you want too download a new 2.5 version, you can this one day later, thursday. Spreading is already on, before the meltdown tomorrow!

 

Sir, it's only OPEN BETA. This IS a test for anyone, so ED can solve the probems in one or two weeks for the BRANCHE update! Internal testers already hammering for a week on the version build for release tomorrow! :D

2.2, which is the current Open Alpha will not be updated indeed, but 1.5.8 will be updated (both Open Beta and Stable Release).

errrmmmmm..... let's see......

 

The people who have taken the time and trouble to test 1.5.8 Open Beta over the past many, many months will be upgraded first so that they can go on testing 2.5 before general release, locating bugs and actually being useful.

 

The people who didn't want the bother of testing in 1.5.8OB suddenly decide they want to be "first" to get 2.5 although they probably won't actually do any testing of it not to mention unnecessarily loading the server with their d/loading. And they won't be able to play with their mates who are content to wait. And in any case it will probably have to be upgraded before general release once the OB testers have finished testing.

 

Of course I could be wrong.

Here you can switch from Branch to Open Beta and Vice Versa. Problem solved! :D

 

If you have Open Beta, your on tomorrow. If you have Branch you must wait minimal a week for update or download 2.5 open beta on thursday. If you have all, you can do anything! :D
