Hi guys,

 

should 2.5 looks like that? compared to Wags videos it looks like there is something wrong with the whole lighting

For the record, I had the same issue yesterday, but I had little time to find a solution. I will give another try tonight.

 

My hardware shouldn't be an issue:

I7 7700K, GTX 1080TI 11Go, RAM: 32Go

Check mission settings as well, as in weather and time of day (and year), it can make a big difference as well when you are comparing to Wags shots.

I would also like to have Deferred Shading Off, but it's not working now:(.

i7 8700k@4.7, 1080ti, DDR4 32GB, 2x SSD , HD 2TB, W10, ASUS 27", TrackIr5, TMWH, X-56, GProR.

Have you tried removing the Saved Games\DCS\Config\options.lua file and set up your graphics settings from scratch? There are differences between 1.5.8 and 2.5.0, and my install looked off until I followed this advice and now it’s stunningly gorgeous!

 

This is per ED’s suggestion to get lightning to appear correct again in OpenBeta.

Hey ED, why not make deferred shading mandatory? The game is more or less broken with it off. Also what is cockpit global illumination?

 

Because people with lower end rigs, or those who play VR would basically be unable to play. To be honest the trees look a bit too light but otherwise it looks great to me, certainly not broken! Of course I never fly at 12 o’clock!

Just restarted DCS I now I'm getting the way too bright trees (regardless of time of day) as well.

 

Played with all settings, deleted the options file, no change.

Have you reduced the gamma?

He obviously does not want to do that to save FPS.

 

bbrz: Try starting from a different airfield at different time of day as suggested by Sith.

This is not a "solution" but more like a workaround to see if you can get enjoyable results somehow, and to make clear it is not a bugged options.lua.

Good point. With all the on/off switching I only paid attention to the HDR setting and that's only available with deferred shading off.

 

Switched it back on and now everything is fine again.

 

@chrisofsweden: Nope, it's increadible smooth with any setting. Much more smooth than 1.5.8 :)

Great to hear it solved your problem. Sometimes solutions are easier than one might think :D

I've also the same (too) bright trees with deferred shading off and HDR on.

With deferred shading ON trees (and general global illumination) looks perfect, but i've experienced several DCS crash with deferred ON.

Just disable MSAA and use DS, works fine. Pity the MSAA wreaks havoc with framerate

In my Saved Games I have 2 folders. One is named DCS and the other is

 

 

named DCS.openalpha

 

 

1-I did a research in my "C:\Users\Admin\Saved Games\DCS.openalpha"

 

 

There is a folder named "metashaders" with a subfolder named "metafx"

 

 

The main folder "Saved Games\DCS.openalpha\metashaders contain

 

 

"METAFXCACHE" Files and the subfolder" metafx" contain "METAFX" Files.

 

 

2-This is also valid for my "C:\Users\Admin\Saved Games\DCS"

 

 

 

 

The Folder C:\Users\Admin\Saved Games\DCS.openalpha has been

 

 

modified on the 11-08-2017 while the Folder "C:\Users\Admin\Saved

 

 

Games\DCS" has been modified on the 31.01-2018 (date of my 1.5.8OB

 

 

update to 2.5OB).

 

 

My question is ... Shall I have to delete

 

 

1-\Saved Games\DCS.openalpha\metashaders

 

 

2-\Saved Games\DCS\metashaders

 

 

3-In both cases, shall I have to delete both the subfolders "metafx"

This is how mine looks and I've tried repair and some other stuff. I have to say though it still looks bad. Especially the trees been bright and looking like the OP pics.

Common map settings can lead to some very odd-looking weather effects, this one looks like the glowing sea from Fallout 4...

To reproduce - "Winter - Heavy snow & clouds" weather preset, December, 10am (default). So none of these settings are a weird combo of any kind.

With deferred shading on, the terrain illumination from anti-colision beacons is not working anymore. I attached some screenshots showing the missing effect on various aircraft with deferred shading on, while the last screenshot shows how it looks without deffered shading. As you can see in the last pic, the anti-colision beacon is actually illuminating the ground.

Can you guide me into where was that sugestion? So I can see into what exactly needd to be done? Also what will happen if i delete them after the update to 2.5, will it recreate new one or I need a freash re install?

Just deleted shaders and config file. Still have those ugly light green trees with DS off.

 

But... gained significant fps. I can now fly in VR with DS on and seem to maintain 45fps everywhere and 90fps at high alt.

 

So, still needs further testing, but it seems that DS is the way to go.

Will now try to see if it is possible to add a little msaa.
