ED Team NineLine Posted April 3, 2018 Author ED Team Share Posted April 3, 2018 This. Pretty sure that many scratches would deadline a bird as a hazard to pilot visibility. While it might need some tweaking, I dont think it needs to be removed, the sun hitting it just right is going to show off any and all blemishes... pimp
Watching Wags Livestream can we get rid of the crazy paving on the Canopy before release,. It's really annoying in the Harrier and it looks like we are gonna have the same problem with the F18. It is totally unrealistic. Probably should add that other than that it looks great I don't understand why ppl think this is annoying and unrealistic. How is scratches on a canopy unrealistic? i9 9900k @5.1GHz NZXT Kraken |Asus ROG Strix Z390 E-Gaming | Samsung NVMe m.2 970 Evo 1TB | LPX 64GB DDR4 3200MHz EVGA RTX 3090 FTW3 Ultra | Reverb G1 | HOTAS Warthog | Saitek Flight Pedals
Guest Guest
I read something about an AOA tone in the Hornet NATOPS. Is the tone in the Hornet like the AOA tone in the F15 that gives you a low frequency beep when AOA is getting too high and a high frequency beep when you're on AOA? Just curious because I find that feature of the F15 very handy for regulating my pull on the stick in a dogfight.

NeilWillis
This. Pretty sure that many scratches would deadline a bird as a hazard to pilot visibility. What makes you think they are scratches? Could they not also be microscopic cracks within the matrix of the canopy? Any and all materials subjected to stress will develop what are in the case of the canopy purely refractive defects. Why would they be defined as a hazard if they don't affect the structural integrity of the component? I take it you have never flown in an airliner and looked out of a window when the sun shines directly through it.

Eddie
I take it you have never flown in an airliner and looked out of a window when the sun shines directly through it. I take it you’ve never maintained or operated a tactical aircraft? A tactical aircraft is not an airliner. We operate with damage limits much lower and maintenance standards far superior than any airline (well most of us in the West at least). An airliners passenger windows are nothing but structural components that give the self loading freight something to look out of, they are not involved in RCS reduction, crew escape, supersonic high g flight, or any other area of consideration for military aircraft. Even a scratch/imperfection a few mm in size is cause to reject a canopy if it’s in the critical sight areas and impedes vision for the pilot. Would ED be able to build in a slider bar in the options menu, which enables us to make the joystick transparent, bit like the KA50 hud display? Jack McCoy
Already included. That settles that. I'm an unconditional Rift user myself, refusing to play any game that's not VR. Except maybe Civ III. :helpsmilie: I have a serious DCS feature proposition to help TrackIR/2D users enjoy such aircraft as the L-39 with the (huge) gunsight and the Mig-15 with its right-in-the-middle-of-everything centerline canopy frame. In which sub-forum, or to whom may I direct some description and images of the concept? In short, it would be a toggle for near/far-focus plane, mimicking binocular vision and its perceived see-though consequences. i7-7700K@4.8GHz, 16Gb-3200, GTX-1080Ti-Strix-11Gb, Maximus IX Hero, Oculus Rift, Thrustmaster Warthog+F/A-18C, Logitech G940 Pedals. Askerov24
Maybe it's not that important, but, please, revise the canopy scratches, they look awfully repeating at some points :( Acer Aspire E5-571G-713W/Intel® Core™ i7-4510U 2.0-3.1GHz/12 GB DDR3 L Memo/NVIDIA® GeForce® 820M 2 GB/1000 GB HDD
