I got in clean, FPSVR, worked fine  a very marginal performance increase 0.2ms GPU and  a small decrease in CPU performance 0.3ms, which on a single run is close enough to runtime variance for me not to concern myself too much ... i couldn't see a significant improvement in GPU memory, but that is not recorded in FPSVR so  i might be missing something

I also tried the Apply hidden stencil area, option , Optimise GPU was enabled by default, also no problem, and marginally worse CPU  frame times another 0.1ms, which likely means i will turn that feature off (Hidden Stencil) unless i am seeing any other visual improvements

I got similar results. I haven't updated to latest DCS beta yet so comparison to my last test 26 run should be accurate. Doesn't seem much difference between having the optimise renderering on or off.

I got it to launch finally, by starting WMR (which used to launch SVR), then launched DCS which then launched SVR.

Thanks SR.  I have the same problem using the non-beta version of SteamVR.  This start-up procedure works for me until the issues get sorted out.

No issues here with any update. Everything works as it always did before, including fpsVR.

Since reporting all ok earlier I've had 2 G2 bluscreens mid mission. Think I'll revert to stable.

EDIT: Returned to stable and problem resolved

So far I can launch every other VR title (2 of them flight sims) with the beta WMR/SVR, just not DCS. DCS still launches in VR mode, but Steam VR crashes.

Even after the SteamVR update this evening.

That’s the same for me. I start thinking it’s some setting of SteamVR with DCS. Maybe motion smoothing in SteamVR? I keep it forced in order to achieve 45 stable fps and it worked pretty well til version 1.17.7. I’ll give a try later...

Mine fails to start since the WMR update too - seems that following someone's advice and running WMR first, then *DCS* (allowing SteamVR to start automatically) fixes it.

I haven't tried rolling back WMR for now, I can live with the slightly modified starting order for the time being.

so there is definately something else going on here;

Likewise, usually WMR first then DCS, just tried DCS with none of the other components already running and still launches with no issue.

I always launch that way anyway and actually seemed to have no issues when I did benchmark testing against the new WMR beta this morning.

However, then I played some missions and all was fine until about 20-30 minutes in, then SteamVR crashes mid mission every time.

I'll try and get some more time in this evening as I've probably only played about 45 mins in one session (BVR practice, AAR and Banklers Case I) but I haven't noticed anything untoward. One completely unrelated to DCS issue was prior to the SteamVR update I tried Google Earth VR for the first time ever and it rebooted my system twice. After the update it's stable, not a clue but it's not heat or OC related as I can stress test using RealBench or similar for hours and it's rock solid.

I know it's not helping anyone, but I have had 2 or 3 long sessions in VR with many starts testing stuff, and I have not had one single problem with running SteamVR/DCS/WMR.

In fact, I can't actually remember EVER having SteamVR crash on me.

it has literally never crashed before on me either mid mission which is why I opted back out of the Beta yesterday. I'll give it another go tomorrow with the new SteamVR beta when I have some time and see if that resolves it.

Many have been moaning about stutter due to updates not just DCS unless you been living under a rock it has been talked about all over since April

That being said I have had no problems but many here seem to have bearing in mind I only fly my own created missions in the mission editor.
