Poor FPS again

Recommended Posts

Updated DCS as per norm, Updated to the latest gtx 1080 graphic drivers and i cant hit 60fps, Even airfields im struggling to look around without getting a hit a fps hit, I have screens but im tired of recording video. These issues really need to be dealt with, What else i can do to get more FPS? Apart from turn settings down?

Not surprised, 4k resolution, everything appears to be enabled, assuming everything cranked all the way up.

It really will come down to turning something down, be it shadows, motion blur, reducing AA, one or all these things.

I had to follow links in your signature soup to find your spec's, which for those not wishing to dig;

GPU: GeForce GTX 1080

CPU: Intel® Core i7-6700K CPU @ 4.00GHz

Memory: 32 GB RAM (31.92 GB RAM usable)

Current resolution: 3840 x 2160, 60Hz

Operating system: Microsoft Windows 10 Home

removed res reduction, GTX 1080 seems to cope for others, it's shadows and then AA... typically

at that resolution I would turn MSAA off and reduce the visibility range from extreme.

Small possibility that your new updated graphic drivers don't fit your machine as well as you last version did. Every new driver version does not mean every computer will like it.

Win 10 64 bit

Intel I-7 7700K

Nvidia Geforce GTX 1060 6gig

That’s old story which goes back to old DCS times. It’s been few years i got use to get low fps in one update fluid performance in another.I remember times forum was full of performance complaints while i get very stable 60 fps.But also thank you messages for resolving performance issues while mine was unplayable because of stutters hickups and so on.It’s not easy what are they doing right now so patience i’d say.Tinkering with the settings everytime is not a solution IMO.Get to know the limits of your hardware. if you have 1070 don’t set your game like you have top of the range 1080ti.Lower things that are perf-killers.And wait..We’ll get there eventually.

Load the 388.71 Drivers. Reduce your shadows. Reduce your preload to 40,000. Adjust your clutter. Turn off Civilian traffic. Adjust your vis range to high. Turn on Vsync.

I bet you see 60 almost everywhere. You have a better system than me and these items I mentioned helps me get an almost constant 60 FPS.

Intel I9 9900K, Asus Prime Z390-P, 32 GB GDDR4, GeForce RTX 2080, 1TB Samsung SDD, TM WartHog, Oculus Rift/TrackIR 5

Or dcs is poorly optimised after last patch? Wont be the first time, An update affects performance? Next weeks patch may fix it happened before, ive deleted metashader folder for now will try later.

With these settings and 1080/6700k you will rarely hit 60fps @4k. Shadows, MSAA and visibility are the most expensive options.

Since you have vsync enabled, when your system can't deliver stable 60fps it will run at half to maintain vsync.

If you want to keep these settings I'd suggest upgrading your GPU to 1080t/Titan X or better wait for whatever comes next (1180ti) and getting 8086k CPU binned and dellided with water cooling so you can overclock it to 5-5.2Ghz.

I run maxed out LOD settings at 1440p/WQHD and can barely garanty 60fps everywhere across the maps Cau-PG-Nttr. It's mostly 60ish and away from cities it's also in the 100's but it can force you down to 45fps for a few seconds, than hopefully crawls above 50 to enable Gsync and stays there.

That's at 5.2GHz and a well overclocked 1080ti, 32GB and lots of SSD's and NVMe. There is nothing you could add but a better GPU once available.

I should add, at no time it stutters, appears non-fluent or such, it's silk smooth above 80, real nice at 60 and I can live with 45fps for 5 sec as it still doesn tstutter or freeze or such. Time will make this better, I am very confident. It already looks darn good at full LOD

I dare to say that running same specs at 4k will be "not so nice" to fly.

Same here in VR - I am not able to hold a constant 45 fps. This was fine a few days ago - wonder what version we should go back to.
