Silver_Dragon Posted April 25, 2019 Posted April 25, 2019 here, but Normandy has only "high" detail, as promise on the KS The rest has only low detail. Krupi Posted April 25, 2019 Posted April 25, 2019 Perfect, thanks Dragon. So what would the straights look like I wonder, bit further north and then much further east? Silver_Dragon Posted April 25, 2019 Posted April 25, 2019 If ED plans on build a "bomber command" map, the PG "med / high detail" has 500x500 Nautical Milles long approx. Central UK was the bases of UK / Us bombers commands, but i dont expected ED build that quantity of airbase, expected only a little of them. About terrain only expected a map from London to Munich and Bremen to Luxembourg. DefaultFace Posted April 25, 2019 Posted April 25, 2019 Theres a page and a half of discussion about planes and dates before I even got here, how am I the one that brought it up? Maybe I'm wrong about the Straits of Dover thing but that was the latest gossip around here a couple months ago. Going much further North in France without having significant overlap with the current map means it'd probably have large amounts of Benelux in it. Which while it was the scene of plenty of air action in that time period, might not make huge amounts of business sense considering the competition at the moment. My personal preference would be South Germany/Austria/Northern Italy. Thats a cool map SD, thanks for the link. 9./JG27 "If you can't hit anything, it's because you suck. grafspee Posted April 25, 2019 Posted April 25, 2019 i got one question i know i am stupid but what's bothering me is why developers go in to 3d and texture modeling befor full fligh model and other modeling stuff require plane to work in dcs. in that case when developing plane take couple years they have to do 3d and texture modeling all over again becouse graphis which they did couple years ago is outdated?? River Posted May 18, 2019 Posted May 18, 2019 Servers are empty, why another WWII map ? People tend to rather discuss when and what octane fuel got into service or what version of XY aircraft we need to get a more realistic scenario. Somehow there is lots of talking but nobody flies in MP. Folks refuse to play it in DCS. Burning Skies is the only server with at least some players on it (empty most of the daytime though). And Burning Skies uses Caucasus map lol. We dreamed of bomber intercepts when Normandy comes out ... We got it, dead horse now. It changed nothing ! Another WWII map ? Really ? We need a Vietnam map and better clouds n weather, existing modules should be finished till they are 100 % bug free and complete.
Veteran66 Posted May 18, 2019 Posted May 18, 2019 why no Caucasus map with ww2 Buildings and structure ;) German WW2 Radio calls Mod: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/2161798/
msalama Posted May 18, 2019 Posted May 18, 2019 Servers are empty, why another WWII map? Because the MP crowd is a minority and most purchases come from the SP majority. You're welcome  The DCS Mi-8MTV2. The best aviational BBW experience you could ever dream of.
ED Team NineLine Posted May 18, 2019 ED Team Posted May 18, 2019 Another WWII map ? Really ? We need a Vietnam map and better clouds n weather, existing modules should be finished till they are 100 % bug free and complete. There is less content for a Vietnam map available right now, clouds and weather would be a different team, not the map team, and clouds and whether improvements are ongoing, and we get bug fixes every two weeks generally, this is an organic product, as things improve, there is a risk for older things to need to be fixed, its always ongoing. Well looking at the I-16 or even the F-16, we can see the model and textures changed a lot since we first saw them, so I dont think developers do that part first and leave them. Even the F-16 started systems modelling to some degree on an older model. It's not so cut and dry. Forum Rules • My YouTube • My Discord - NineLine#0440• **How to Report a Bug**

REDEYE_CVW-66 Posted September 22, 2019 Posted September 22, 2019 Don't know if you noticed this, but the P-47 picture in the last NL is NOT from Normandy (At least in its current form). Vegetation patterns, field textures and houses are different. Perhaps the Jug will be paired up with one of the upcoming ww2 maps..
JG13Wulf Posted September 22, 2019 Posted September 22, 2019 A question about Normandy. Are we going to have a pre-DDay version of the map without the Allies airdrome on france ? Could be really interresting for pre-DDay campaign and DDay campaign.
Silver_Dragon Posted September 22, 2019 Posted September 22, 2019 That require a new map, erasing all aerodromes and making other changes in the map. ED has not actually a "dynamic map to change them vs eras. JG13Wulf Posted September 22, 2019 Posted September 22, 2019 I imagine it's something to do after the actual Normandy map is 100 % complete. But just to know if it is planned.

tapi Posted December 26, 2019 Posted December 26, 2019 (edited) It is great that the Normandy map was updated. But unfortunately, there are still many many faults.... It is a nightmare to navigate on this map. Few examples: a) Some towns on the DCS Normandy map cannot be found on real maps (even from 1940s), e.g. Heurtevent, Sourdeval, Ranchy etc. - see attachment b) Some towns do not have names on the map, e.g. Flers, Conde etc. - see attachment c) After zoom change, rivers can change shapes considerably, e.g. river Orne near Argentan - see attachments Edited December 26, 2019 by tapi Smoke me a kipper I'll be back for breakfast! Cunctator Posted December 26, 2019 Posted December 26, 2019 a) Some towns on the DCS Normandy map cannot be found on real maps (even from 1940s), e.g. Heurtevent, Sourdeval, Ranchy etc. - see attachment They might not be the largest communes, but all exist where they should be. Heurtevent and Sourdeval were merged with their neighbors into new communes recently. Also Sourdeval is maybe placed too much to the east on our map. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ranchy https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heurtevent https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sourdeval-les-Bois
tapi Posted December 26, 2019 Posted December 26, 2019 (edited) I compared the DCS Normandy with map from 1940s used for Kneeboard: The discussed cities are not there - see attachment According to the DCS map these should be fairly large towns. Reflected Posted December 27, 2019 Posted December 27, 2019 Have you seen this? https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=4152769&postcount=1632 - Next map has centred on channel map as southeast england, part of low contries and northeast france. I really hope it will include much of Holland as well as some of NW Germany for late war scenarios, as well as East Anglian USAAF bases. Not to mention the Ardennes! Otherwise it will just be a more detailed and slightly extended version of the Normandy map. I'm very curious about what area it will cover exactly. Facebook Instagram YouTube Discord

Vising Andrewsfield (RAF Andrewfield) where I got my ppl would sure be interesting, was a medium bomber base for b26s I think, also had some Mustangs later in the war.
