[REPORTED] Antenna elevation freeze and B-scan offset center

Radar antenna elevation freezes and B-scan is "recentered" based on TDC cursor position when changing a2a weapon while radar is TRYING to take a lock on something. Easiest way to reproduce is to point aircrafts nose to somewhere where there isn't any radar contacts, move the TDC close to the edge of B-scan, command STT lock, change a2a weapon and then undesignate. After that antenna elevation can not be moved and B-scan is centered to where TDC was when commanding a STT lock.

Quite strange, I can watch your track, and see the issue, take control, and it continues to be an issue, but if I fly the AA Radar instant Action mission and do what you did in that track, I have no issue.

 

Are you using any mods or anything else you can think of, that might be different than a normal set up? Are you using a supplied mission, or is it a custom or resaved mission? Anything you can think of that might be useful?

No mods. I have tried now pretty much everything that i can think of, repair, reinstalled the F-18 module via module manager, disabled LotATC server and Tacview, deleted fxo and metashaders from saved games and this issue is still there. Mission is default one but i can reproduce this on any mission.

 

Only thing that comes to my mind is that i accidentally canceled the latest OB update at unpacking phase, is it possible that something got corrupted there? But reinstalling the module should have fixed that if that was the case right?

Can confirm that in A/A mode, if a lock is commanded and the selected weapon is switched that the antenna elevation will freeze.

Ok, that is what I was missing, the timing of the switching weapons. I am going to try on our internal build, and report as needed. Thanks guys.

Facing this issue as well online several times. Only fix is to take a new plane right now. Even a complete shut down won't fix it.

I’ve made a report post about this recently. Problem is I can’t get it to replicate on a short track. It only happened when doing a long track which is pointless because it will have other inconsistencies and send them down a rabbit hole.

I had a "stuck in offcentre" radar today in my PG training mission. It happend after 6min in the mission(HUD mission time 11:36).

 

Two problems:

- the track file is 6,28MB so i had to zip it to upload it here

- the trackfile is not replaying correct for me, but it is showing the radar behaviour and a minute later it was showing me crashing into the see

 

Nevertheless i hope the track helps.

It seems with the current version, that vacq and gun radar is offcenter. sometimes to the left, sometimes to the right. Anybody else seen this?

I was still able to reproduce the reported bug again in the current Open Beta.

How to (Same steps as described by Kapsu):

 

-Weapon quick select Fox1

-Point radar in a direction without contacts.

-reduce sweep to smaller area ( e.g. 40°)

-command STT lock in the area outside of the small scan area

-quickly press Weapon quick select Fox3

-Undesignate Lock

 

 

Result: Unable to change radar elevation and the scan pattern is suddenly offcenter.

Only chance to fix this is to take a new aircraft. This happened to me several times in the last months.

Follow up:

Afterwards, with the radar elevation still being stuck, the radar altitude limits are shown between 1000 and 12000ft, yet it aquires new targets at 15000ft

Antenna Azimuth Blocked at left side

 

Hi! Sometimes Hornet antenna stucks at Left side, If I'm not doing anything wrong, we can't move the azimuth yet

Azimuth and Radar elevation can get stuck by following those steps:

 

-Weapon quick select Fox1

-Point radar in a direction without contacts.

[MISSING TRACK FILE] Attack Radar keeps scanning left side of the screen

 

I have this problem with my radar only scanning the left side of the screen. I also see that I can't change the antenna elevation.

 

If I move the cursor to the right side of the screen and press lock it will move to the right and attempt tot lock but then unlocking it just goes back to the left side scanning.

 

I've tried all the typical things... it's not in ACM modes, or the scanning angles...

 

Whats worse is I remember having the same problem many months ago and found the solution and I remember it is simple to fix but I can't remember what I did.

 

Any one know what I'm talking about? Maybe ill have to make a youtube video to show what it happening . I will if no body know s what I am talking about.

Happened to me in the past as well, but only for a single flight and has not then happened again since. Not been able to reproduce it sadly.

Are you using the Undesignate/NWS button to undesignate the target?
