DmitriKozlowsky Posted January 31, 2019 Posted January 31, 2019 WOW! When did we get new SU-34? It looks amazing. Older SU-34 was kind of polygonal looking. This new one in latest 2.5.4.XXXX is amazing. High detail, normal maps, specular maps. The works! That stinger tail on the aft end is crazy looking. Does it have rear firing missiles and rear radar? It has gravitas of DCS: level aircraft. I don't suppouse ED is planning to release it as a flyable, with detailed cockpit and PFM from SU-33D. I am curious if Russian Navy ever considered a naval version of SU-34M to go along with SU-33. If SU-33 can T/O and trap on Kuz. So can SU-34 with strengthened gear. May be not at max GW of land only variant, but still. Both 33 and 34 are very close in size. I figure that a folding nose, a folding rear stinger tail, and folding wings would make 34 occupy same space on flight deck or hangar deck as 33.
Mule Posted January 31, 2019 Posted January 31, 2019 I agree. They've done a great job to this aircraft. I would love to see this done as a full DCS level module. Fighter Pilot Podcast.
AeriaGloria Posted January 31, 2019 Posted January 31, 2019 (edited) It is a really nice new model. Just imagine if everything was like that:) To answer your question there is no rear radar on Su-34, the stinger houses the APU, you can see an intake/exhaust I believe if you look closely. I also believe the Russian Navy intends to use their MiG-29Ks for air to ground tasking. Too bad about the Kuznetsov... DmitriKozlowsky Posted February 1, 2019 Author Posted February 1, 2019 Wiki says that there is a defensive radar in tail. Part of the self-defense ECM suite. I noticed that chaff/flare dispensers are on bottom of stinger.
drPhibes Posted February 1, 2019 Posted February 1, 2019 Wiki says (...) Wiki says lots of things. Like that the AV-8B+ can carry AGM-88 or 84s, which it can't. There's not really much space for a rear facing radar underneath and/or behind the APU exhaust:
AeriaGloria Posted February 1, 2019 Posted February 1, 2019 Don’t always trust Wikipedia, there are exhausts around it. If you mean the 100% trustworthy Wikipedia, they list this website as the source, too bad I can’t read cryllic http://www.airwar.ru/enc/bomber/su34.html Take a look at this webpage with pictures and the comments below it. I know comments aren’t trustworthy, but the picture shows an APU, and there is also exhaust/intake on port side https://foxtrotalpha.jalopnik.com/these-riveting-photos-show-how-russias-su-34-fullback-f-1735446088 EDIT: of course someone beat me with this exact picture! Knock-Knock Posted February 1, 2019 Posted February 1, 2019 WOW! When did we get new SU-34? It looks amazing. Its been there for a while now, and yea, looks great. I caught one out in the open the other day, and snuck up on it for a closer look :). The Fencer looks good up close too, if you havent had the chance. - Jack of many DCS modules, master of none. - Personal wishlist: F-15A, F-4S Phantom II, JAS 39A Gripen, SAAB 35 Draken, F-104 Starfighter, Panavia Tornado IDS. | Windows 11 | i5-12400 | 64Gb DDR4 | RTX 3080 | 2x M.2 | 27" 1440p | Rift CV1 | Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS | MFG Crosswind pedals |
DmitriKozlowsky Posted February 1, 2019 Author Posted February 1, 2019 Eh... This is supposed to be a family friendly site. Your Hornet straddling top back end of Fullback looks like Corgi mounting a Mastiff. Trying to anyway.
DmitriKozlowsky Posted February 1, 2019 Author Posted February 1, 2019 Just caught opening of Predator 2 with Jamaican posses executing a rival. Now all I can say is it is "Ahillary pooowah youneet"
DmitriKozlowsky Posted February 1, 2019 Author Posted February 1, 2019 Assembly floor looks like film set of "Firefox 2: Fire Down". Craig Tomas did write a sequel to Firefox, 'Firefox Down' in 1993. Anyhow, I say lets sneek into Kubinka, and take one for a joyride flight to, ohh I don't know, any nation West of Russian-Polish frontier.
gunterlund21 Posted February 2, 2019 Posted February 2, 2019 Yes this jet has needed a facelift for a long time. Looks great. Some animations need work (flaps up on takeoff, not transition) but overall nicely done. I was in Art of the Kill D#@ it!!!!

bies Posted February 3, 2019 Posted February 3, 2019 Newer. Russian government do not allow to model full fidelity even 1980s MiG-29 and Su-27. Su-34 is totally out of scope.
sylkhan Posted February 4, 2019 Posted February 4, 2019 Newer. Russian government do not allow to model full fidelity even 1980s MiG-29 and Su-27. Su-34 is totally out of scope. lol, seriously ? do you have contact with russian government ? Can you share some official document/links, please.
Dehuman Posted February 4, 2019 Posted February 4, 2019 lol, seriously ? do you have contact with russian government ? Can you share some official document/links, please. Popular hearsay. From what I understand from the very few ED have actually made on this topic (Wags, Chizh) Su-27SM - wasn't allowed, several years ago. (Note version "SM" so very modern) Su-24M - wasn't allowed (Again modernised variant with sophisticated avionics, sensors and weapons) MiG-29 - doable but a hassle and F-1X fighters seem like better $$$ Russian aircraft in general - complicated (have refused to be more specific than that) for a Russian company. People also often say there was some law in 2011/2012 that made it so... No specific law is mentioned of course but this around the time Sergei Shoigu became the defense minister and introduced a number of anti-corruption measures. To OP, yes there was a Su-32FN mock-up/prototype proposed which was a naval version with a tailhook.

Anyone care to speculate on that? I have no idea.
Dehuman Posted February 4, 2019 Posted February 4, 2019 But what about MIG 25 and MIG 27. What would be the reason to not allow them to be simulated? Anyone care to speculate on that? I have no idea. There's lot's of speculation, but I'd not take it seriously. Both of those aircraft have been definitively retired from PVO and VVS service for a long time. Even the export customers have mostly withdrawn these planes.
splash Posted February 4, 2019 Posted February 4, 2019 A MiG-27 would be a nice addition to DCS, but a MiG-25 is a completely boring aircraft.
Shadow KT Posted February 4, 2019 Posted February 4, 2019 This is getting off-topic, but they have said that they can do russian jets, but they won't sell as good. SonofEil Posted February 4, 2019 Posted February 4, 2019 I’ve been noticing some quiet updates also. New SU-34 looks great and so does the new E-2. Hopefully the C-17 gets a couple extra polygons soon. It’s engines are practically squares. i7 7700K @5.0, 1080Ti, 32GB DDR4, HMD Odyssey, TM WH, Crosswind Rudder...
