@Kochrachon, in these days were internet speed have greatly increased, SSDs are larger and cheaper, I think the most important think ED should focus is networking code and its optimization.

For Arma3 for example in order to host a 3rd party map on a dedicated server you need to have that map (several gigs of space) physically on that server too. Similar for units mods. Nobody bothered with creating let's say frame only maps, to have it only for server run.

Also they need to focus on making maps available for dedi server ... these being another very important bit to help community which is currently WIP ... hence good thing.

Thanks will give this ago on the Warbirds of Prey Server as soon as I get home from work!!!

Question is this on the 2.5 DCS World or Open Beta or Both?

I have to say that I like this update. It's not exactly what I was expecting. But still a great step into right direction, it seems.

I just have one question about the need of an GPU. To run the dedicated server do you still need DX11 compatible GPU? Or is this requirement now dropped as you just need to launch the DCS splashscreen which is running while the server is running in the background.

Yeah, but you needed a GPU that could do DX11, which ruled out on-CPU graphics for the most part.

I've been running with onboard graphics for four or five years, no GPU.

I hope that there will be a small performance improvement, but all I really see is a web GUI for remote access, everything else we had before.

How do you change the server host player name? It comes up with "player" in each of mine.

How does the multiple servers on one host work with the -w switch.

Do you need to copy both Saved Games and DCS Install directory somewhere else?

Thanks for the answers :)

So if I already own all maps for my current dcs account will I be required to buy them again for a dedicated server which I currently run on my current dcs account?

I also wonder this.

Why is there even a "player"? Isn't this a dedicated server?

NineLine, is there (or will be) a topic for all the feedback? :helpsmilie:

Great, make sure to give us feedback on what you see and how it works for you!

Would this dedicated server be able to run on a low cost VM type server? If so what would the minimum specs required be?

Windows 10 64bit, Intel i7 6700K, 32GB Corsair 2400Mhz, 970 NVMe 500Gb SSD, GeForce 2080 super, HP Reverb, VKB GF PRO, Thrustmaster Warthog throttle, Thrustmaster Pendular rudders, Windows + DCS

Likely not, read the main of the topic. This is not a light weight dedicated server client, its the same full game client with rendering turned off and a different UI you set via a command line flag, so the entirely same CPU and RAM usage requirements, just no GPU requirement. You will still need gigs of HDD space and 16-32 gigs of ram pending on how complicated your missions are and how many scripts you run and how many people you host.

This was posted earlier though.

I have 2 instances running on the same server, each instance is using ~ 15% CPU and 4GB of RAM. A BIG improvement from before.

Really nice ! Allready running on my server.

Awesome change on CPU and RAM usage, less than 2 minutes to start Windows and DCS server to be up. Really amazing for servers administrator. Mine is a VM that use iGPU from i7, so far so good performances are best than before, I cleaned my old fashioned autoexec.cfg

Will see if it correct our asyncnet.dll crash when a player join after 2h uptime.

Non it's time for a really headless mode that can be easily run on a headless Linux server ;)

See attached, 4 players only atm but many ia activity. See cpu and Ram usage...

It's not, it's just a feature that let you run dcs as a service and administrate it from a webpage

You can run the server with your current DCS Account but you won't be able to play at the same time (because your account will be already logged).

So, host need his own account and if you want to play on your own server you need to play with diff. acc than server??? That means Buy terrains again? True?
