What is wrong in that? It is a cool scene and idea!

And comparing it to other popular culture movies, it is very very good!

You didn't like the documentary about how great heros saved the earth from the Psychlos? I mean, those harriers were workin great for sitting in storage for 1000 years :megalol:

Also can I speak to you about thetan levels? :music_whistling:

I like the harriers in that movie. Quite nice. It does not look like a bad CGI.

Battlefield Earth is an abomination...and I'm kind of glad it exists as a warning against vanity/propaganda projects. Tbh though I don't even remember Harriers in the movie, or any jets at all for that matter.

The True Lies Harrier scenes are iconic though! Everything in that movie is done with a wink and a nod, don't take it so seriously. And the effects still look better than a lot of the CGI shit that's released today! It was Ahnold in his prime!

Oh come. Live Free or Die Hard F-35B. The new and much improved F-35B. One with not one , but two internal cannons. Instead of single removable pod that looks disturbingly like penis sheath of a stallion. Not to mention a really good idea of gun arm safety override when in VSTOL hovering mode.

Well fine, you're just going to FORCE me to look it up now

Funny enough.... the BEST hollywood harrier scene comes in True Lies too.

The maverick strikes on the trucks are awesome!!!

That's the scene where a guy in the truck shoots a Stinger at the Harrier.

This, just like most of the early 'start-up procedure question' threads here always made me think of that Simpsons episode at the airshow.

«The Harrier is so simple a child could fly it!» - «Could I fly it?» - «Of course not!»

Later Sideshow Bob tries to steal it and the whole instrument panel is just two big buttons saying 'fly' and 'stop'...

Well, they happened fairly late in the 'movie'. Your brain might have shut down to prevent further damage long before that.

If you watch the movie, you would find a scene before He steps in, it is pointed out that He use to fly those in his past...

1:50 where the Maverick strike happens.

It is always so odd that in movies etc the targeting is made so simple and unrealistic, even for those who knows nothing about the targeting systems.

Like in that scene both launch their two mavericks on the bridge perfectly.

There is just always something that makes people notice that "You can't just aim and launch those things". Maybe because people have seen so many times the missiles targeting ideas, not the bombs release. So they expect to see something complex to happen to get the missiles targeted and locked on target and then launched.

I figured it was the old Chuck Norris thingy for him... "I'm a bad @ss, step aside chump...." Now Chuck being able to fly it is one thing! ;)

90% of the public doesn't care about realistic procedures so it would be wasted time (and money) in the production of the movie. We, the remaining 10%, will bitch about it at a beer, so its all good. Still, that part is my favorite, and at that time i watched the movie 3 times, just for that scene :smilewink:.

In the movie, Tom Arnold's char alludes to Arnold's char having been a former Harrier pilot.

Ah...sniped. oh well. Anyways, I have a good many trademark Tasker takeoffs under my belt at this point.

There was also the Pepsi advert where they offered a Harrier for large amount of pepsi points. Then when someone sued them to get his Harrier, they upped it to several millions more. :D
