VMFA117_Poko Posted August 30, 2007 Posted August 30, 2007 Could You write someday a story about your team and about making sims from "Flanker" (that wasn't ED yet if I recall correctly - ISS?) to "Black Shark"? How it looks behind the curtin, why You decided to start working on "Flanker", is it Your very first project, what problems you met on the way, how looks planning works at the sim, some details about most important team members, etc. Posting some pics would be really nice. This could be very very interesting interview/story IMHO.
ED Team Groove Posted August 30, 2007 ED Team Posted August 30, 2007 Good idea, maybe we could collect questions by the community and the ED guys could answer them as soon as they have some spare time ! I will try to persuade Wags into this direction :D Our Forum Rules: http://forums.eagle.ru/rules.php#en

amalahama Posted August 30, 2007 Posted August 30, 2007 In SimHQ I found some month ago what you can say "the history of ED" in the first part on the Lockon's review (in 2003 I think). I like a lot this topic too, great idea Poko  Regards!!

Alfa Posted August 30, 2007 Posted August 30, 2007 In the beginning, there was Flanker: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n65AWnFwFMM Check out the directional rocket on the Tor... Yes thats amazing - its a better representation of the Tor's launch sequence than we have now(!). JJ

Wdigman Posted August 30, 2007 Posted August 30, 2007 They should do this shortly sfter the relece fo BS. A Live QA session focus on the developement of BS and what didnt make it into the SIM vs what did. I would limit the questions about addressing bugs or where's my favorite jet. But it would be interesting to hear about all the struggles and sucesses for developing such a sim. Good topic.

ED Team JimMack Posted August 31, 2007 ED Team Posted August 31, 2007 Great read ! Thanks. Is it true that some people left ED after "Flanker" (or "Flanker 2.0/2.5") release and found their new jobs in Microsoft's FS team? That is correct, but it was after 1.0, 2.0 was mainly new code. Perry Posted August 31, 2007 Posted August 31, 2007 In the beginning, there was Flanker: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n65AWnFwFMM Check out the directional rocket on the Tor and the booster on the Kh-31. Spinning EWR. Ah... memories... I still have this game. Do anybody knows if patches or updates have ever been released for Su-27 ? I am going to install it again tomorow ! Btw, your link looks like a youtube one but it redirects to a web page...
EvilBivol-1 Posted August 31, 2007 Posted August 31, 2007 Btw, your link looks like a youtube one but it redirects to a web page...Oops, must've not copied right. The link URL is correct though, so you could just copy/paste the URL into your browser. But here it is again for the lazy: IIRC, Su-27 Flanker-1.5 or the Squadron Commander Edition was the final release. I think the few 'Original Flanksters' still around today continute to see Su-27 Flanker as ED's greatest achievement and are looking forward to future products which surpass that pedigree. IMHO, FC was a step in that direction, BS will be a leap and the future is promising. - EB [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Nothing is easy. Everything takes much longer. The Parable of Jane's A-10 Forum Rules

Perry Posted September 1, 2007 Posted September 1, 2007 I couldn't launch Su-27 Flanker... :( It is a DOS game (LOL!), I had some troubles during the installation. After it was finished, I couldn't launch the application successfully because I have no VESA driver on my laptop... too bad
Shaman Posted September 2, 2007 Posted September 2, 2007 Can we have some new photography of ED team? With some nice adobe editing - names and your callsigns, nicknames next to you? I mean some nice ED family photo like we had in Flanker 1.0 manual as far I recall, but let's say with FC and BS posters behind you and this time in full colour. Maybe you could put it on lockon.ru page... hmm just an idea. You guys definately have changed a bit since then ;) and there are surely new members in the team? right? 51PVO Founding member (DEC2007-) 100KIAP Founding member (DEC2018-) :: Shaman aka [100☭] Shamansky tail# 44 or 444 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] 100KIAP Regiment Early Warning & Control officer

VMFA117_Poko Posted September 13, 2007 Author Posted September 13, 2007 History of Flanker/LockOn I went to RU section to spy some news and have found this thread: http://forum.lockon.ru/showthread.php?t=25339 There is a history of Flanker/LockOn captured by Frogfoot and edited by Layvinas. Here's a link for it: http://rapidshare.com/files/54456628/Flanker-Lockon_history.rar.html ... and mirror: http://slil.ru/24833300 For those who are interested. Well. It's not really a publication to read - it's some jpg with posters, photos of publications. Everything in russian... :/ THX Frogfoot & Layvinas!
