Gaanalma Posted November 19, 2011 Posted November 19, 2011 :music_whistling:I will. I hate the complexity of DCS series and all that "reading manuals for hours" thing. This virtual clickology is pure nonsense for me. There are far more better things in life than wasting hours of your precious time to learn how to switch the buttons right in your virtual cockpit. All that matters for me in a flight sim is the flight model and some good visuals so I can feel I'm like in a real aircraft. Usually I fly fast jets but from time to time I like getting in the A-10A's pit and bomb the **** on the ground with it's slow speed handling capability. I will also like to fly A-10C in FC3 environment, modeled in the same simplistic way as the A-10A. Also I would love to see the F/A-18C and F-16C in a future FC/Lock-On sequel. For every Russian fighter plane there will be an American counterpart. Mig-29 - F-16 Su-27 - F-15 Su-33 - F/A-18 Su-25 - A-10A Su-25T - A-10C  [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] www.36stormovirtuale.net
IvanK Posted November 19, 2011 Posted November 19, 2011 (edited) aaron886 you said: "Please note that units are not necessarily degrees. Meaning... think about an F-15 trying to land at 21 degrees alpha. (Instead of 21 units.) The tail would be buried into the ground. Difference being... FC2 displays alpha in degrees, whereas the real Eagle uses non-dimensional units." Yep I am fully aware that the F15 uses "units" and that they are not degrees. However Units of AOA still have a direct relationship to IAS in 1G flight on Approach. That relationship is shown on the graph. Whether FC2 uses degrees or units internally the approach speed should be correct. My point is the relationship between the Units AOA and Approach speed are way off. F15s dont fly Final at 162Kias in normal operation! BTW its pretty straight forward to establish a direct relationship between units AOA and degrees. I also draw your attention to Pg 84 of the FC2 manual under the title of Angle Of attack Indicator.. it says : "The AoA indicator is positioned on the instrument panel under the IAS and Mach meter. It is used for indicating the current AoA value within the limits of 0 to 45 units. The AoA values do not correspond to actual degrees. In the area of landing Aoa 920-22 units) there is a corresponding index on the the indicator" and Pg 92 of the manual describing HUD, it says in the 4th dot point: "Just to the right of the speed scale , a smaller AoA scale is displayed. This scale shows the current AoA, which is measured in units and not degrees. You should land at approximately 22 units. Given the manual is specific and in game Flight performance is at variation its a "Bug" and I will elevate as such in the Bug thread :) As to Petty thats your opinion I am just flagging it. ZQuickSilverZ Posted November 19, 2011 Posted November 19, 2011 The title of this thread makes me want to almost cry. For years, dedicated fans such as me just waiting for a DCS:Fighter and have been playing Lock On since 2003. You want to spend time on a new jet for FC?! Let DCS:Fighter come out then turn on game mode. I have nothing against people that don't want hardcore realism. The above option makes us both happy ;) I think I will go write a song now about the wait for DCS:Fighter. It is going to be an epic :) Crunch this statement perplexes me a bit. 104th has been (and is) a major player in the FC/DCS online community. A lot of people that play FC2 play it online. FC3 stands to increase the online population. I understand DCS offers a gaming mode. But most online servers (including 104th) do not offer support for that mode. So that is not really an option for most people that want an online experience. There is also the consideration that FC is like DCS training wheels. It is the "gateway" sim to DCS products. Let's be real here. DCS titles scare off a lot of people because of thier complexity. I know. I have seen it twice. I think bringing out FC3 without new aircraft would be a huge loss of opportunity to further develop the online community. I need, I need, I need... What about my wants? QuickSilver original. Cali Posted November 19, 2011 Posted November 19, 2011 We have been waiting and wanting another flyable for many years. Every patch or update we have been hoping a F-16 or F-18 would be there and everytime we are disappointed. I'm not counting on anything being added in FC3, thinking it will get what BS2 got, maybe a little more maybe a little less. 1 i7-4820k @ 3.7, Windows 7 64-bit, 16GB 1866mhz EVGA GTX 970 2GB, 256GB SSD, 500GB WD, TM Warthog, TM Cougar MFD's, Saitek Combat Pedals, TrackIR 5, G15 keyboard, 55" 4K LED

Everyone cool it and let ED call the shots. ;) Check Wags' post: 2nd- Flaming Cliffs 3 5th- The next US fixed wing jet DCS aircraft is being worked on in parallel. (with 4th- "DCS Flying Legends") I know "EVERYTHING IS SUBJECT TO CHANGE", but in this scheduling/realising time we will get (infos about) new DCS fix-wing plane last. Mig-29 - F-16 Su-27 - F-15 Su-33 - F/A-18 Su-25 - A-10A Su-25T - A-10C I agree. I would love to see more new (added/not changed) LOMAC/FC style (or S- Simplified) cockpits in FC3. Yes, F-18, F-16, F-15E, F-14, Tornado, Mirage, MiG-23/25/27/31, Su-30/34 also should be "Mind Blowing". :D (as flyable planes with S-cockpits) ( Don't forget DCS style cockpits and FMs need ~2 years) Improved Flight Models (Advanced - AFM: Su-25T) what i would love to see too instead of (Simplified - SFM: MiG-29), but all we know " Pricing will depend on what new features are included" <--- Realising Time too :( +2 For IvanK's wishes. ...(Correct ILS HUD symbolgy for the F15 and A10 Also it would be nice to see realistic Approach speeds/AOA relationship for the F15 for final approach and landing)... GE_22 Posted November 19, 2011 Posted November 19, 2011 Wishes about Custom Snap Views in LockOn's controls: 1. Let the user have the option of letting a "Custom Snap View" remain where it goes (no jumping back to a previous view position) after pressing its keys and releasing them (eg, Num6-LWin). I mean, you don't have to hold the key(s) down any more for a custom snap view to remain at its postion. 2. Let the user have the freedom of having as many Custom Snap Views as he wants to. That is, something like a "Create Custom Snap View" button. 1

Boberro Posted November 19, 2011 Posted November 19, 2011 Well, FC2 compared to FC1 brought much changes. Much more can be edited, perhaps LO3 will bring more benefits - it'd be good to un-code some things like HUDs (to make new one or correct present), radar properties and behaviour (to make multirole example Su-30 or F-16 mod with AA and AG radar even very simplified) and so on. Reminder: Fighter pilots make movies. Bomber pilots make... HISTORY! :D | Also to be remembered: FRENCH TANKS HAVE ONE GEAR FORWARD AND FIVE BACKWARD :D ಠ_ಠ ツ

KillarZ Posted November 19, 2011 Posted November 19, 2011 Well assuming that the next DCS will be a US fighter, most likely a f-18 or f-16. IMO I dont think it is neccessary to add another US fighter aircraft into FC3 but it would be interesting to get a European aircraft as a flyable since we already have russian and US aircraft in FC3. Itd be interesting to get the gripen, typhoon, Mirage whatever or if the next DCS is the F-18 hopefully another NAVY fighter to go head to head with the F-18 other than the Su-33. 1
Grimes Posted November 19, 2011 Posted November 19, 2011 There is also the consideration that FC is like DCS training wheels. It is the "gateway" sim to DCS products. Let's be real here. DCS titles scare off a lot of people because of thier complexity. I know. I have seen it twice. I think bringing out FC3 without new aircraft would be a huge loss of opportunity to further develop the online community. I agree. It would be a travesty to not add a new aircraft to the sim. Its not like there aren't mods out there that add in new aircraft with decent enough exterior and interior 3d models, why not put some official love and care to make em part of the sim world. I'm kinda tired of the same old aircraft and missions having pretty much every flyable aircraft available to both sides in a multiplayer mission. Adding for the US a F-16 or F-18 would help make things a little more interesting along with giving Russia an upgrade Su-27SM or Su-35. Besides, even with new terrain and new triggers the FC3 gameplay experience will likely stay incredibly similar to that of FC2. However if we add in a new aircraft, it'll all depend if that aircraft brings anything new to FC, but it'll at least shake things up abit. SUBS17 Posted November 23, 2011 Posted November 23, 2011 It has been some 25 years since the Israeli Air Force participated in winning an air duel, that being said they are by a longway the most experienced Air Force in jet v jet A2A combat, the F-15's k/d ratio is testament to this. 14th September 2001 2x F-15s shot down 2x Mig29As from the Syrian Air Force. [sIGPIC] [/sIGPIC]
SUBS17 Posted November 23, 2011 Posted November 23, 2011 (when they raided the Syrian nuclear reactor site a few years back they took over the Russian missile batteries, lol). Where does it say that? From what I know they harrassed the SAM/AAA sites earlier that day prior to the air strike against the reactor. Which incidentally Iran had already made an attempt to take out and both Israel and Iran were working together to take that reactor out. You might have the missile battery mixed up with another raid Israel did years before where they captured and stole a Russian made search radar which involved some speical forces capturing a radar and then some large helicopters flew in and picked it up flying it back to Israel. A short time after they joined the IAF, a pair of Yas'ur CH-53s took off on an unconventional assignment: they were to "steal" a new Soviet radar from Egypt. Super Frelon choppers had landed paratroopers near the radar, at Ras 'Arb in Egypt. They subdued the Egyptian troops guarding the installation and took apart the radar. The Yas'ur CH-53s lifted the radar's components into the air and transported them, whole, to Israel, where technicians could study their secrets at their leisure. 1 [sIGPIC] [/sIGPIC]
Isegrim Posted November 23, 2011 Posted November 23, 2011 Yesterday evening i did a night fly with the Shark and noticed that the Flash coming out of the Main gun of Tanks and Gun Artillery is missing. http://www.fprado.com/armorsite/Osorio-Pics/Osorio-Nightfiring.jpg The Point is that Tanks are not easy to find at night and it would become more easy with an Flash like this when they began to fire on you or other units. At day its ok with the smoke but at night...? Also its realistc and will look cool i think. Please ED if its not a big proplem for you guys. It would be a good add.:joystick::pilotfly: ISE "Blyat Naaaaa" - Izlom

Drona Posted November 26, 2011 Posted November 26, 2011 Is it possible to add the MiG-29K as flyable with carrier ops? :joystick:
Dr_Arrow Posted November 26, 2011 Posted November 26, 2011 I'd love to see Su-17M4 flyable. Avionics is nearly identical to Su-25T, cockpit is also very similar, weapons are the same. Some tweaks in cockpit, flight model (folding wings for player's aircraft) would be sufficient to bring one hell of ground attack aircraft that can do great missions like SEAD, Interdiction, Deep strikes, etc. 1
Viper101 Posted November 29, 2011 Posted November 29, 2011 It is rumored that both smoke and flares are getting an upgrade. Is that true? If smoke is getting an upgrade, can it also be configured to be able to toggle it while on the ground? [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Saeid Posted December 23, 2011 Posted December 23, 2011 Although I stopped playing LockOn for a long time (I was so disappointed...I even sold my joystick & TrackIR) I received an email about FC3 from ED. It is a quite nice news. I wouldn't mind paying more for FC3 than normal games by huge publishers (EA, UB, ...) because I know ED/DCS are not like them. Anyway...I really would like having a 2-seat aircraft in game that can be played online for multiplayer and co-op. this is really one of my biggest wishes! Also happy X-MAS everybody. GE_22 Posted January 31, 2012 Posted January 31, 2012 (edited) Please consider supporting the use of NewView in Lock On. NewView provides the sim pilot with an extremely wide range of possibilities in camera view control. In comparison, LockOn's view controls are not flexible. Also, some Lock On players previously played the IL-2 Sturmovik series where they used NewView for view control, and they find it hugely inconvenient to abandon NewView while flying LockOn; and there will be more. GE_22 Posted February 2, 2012 Posted February 2, 2012 (edited) what is NewView ? http://war.by-airforce.com/downloads/newview.html Thanks for the reply! I did forget to add its link. Your link is to the NewView software I mentioned, but that's a very old version of it. The present version is here: http://newview.hruks.com/index.php or http://newview.hruks.com/index_en.php (The Russian pages have much more detailed contents.) It has 6DOF support and can be used in IL-2 Sturmovik: Cliffs of Dover. I suppose some of the developers are familiar with it, since at the bottom of LockOn_1.2.1's readme, there are lines of FAQ as follows: Q: Upon mission start, the game does no respond to commands and does no unpause. Some buttons do not work, I am unable to save and restore a control profile. A: Most likely your system has either PuntoSwitcher or NewView software installed. Add the simulation executables (launcher.exe and simulator.exe) to PuntoSwitcher exceptions or stop the program while running the game. For NewView, you will need to rename the working NewView folder prior to starting Flaming Cliffs 2. Edited February 2, 2012 by GE_22
ploegering Posted February 3, 2012 Posted February 3, 2012 I would like to have full 3D- Cockpits. There ist a Mod for FC2 (i think most of you know) for the MiG-21 with 3D-Cockpit. So, why not for the other Cockpits? One of the features in BS2 are the cocpit shadows. If FC3 will get all the effects of BS2 and A-10C - maybe we get these shadows for FC3 too. In this case, i hope there will be 3D-cocpits (imo a 3D-cockpit ist a requirement for cockpit shadows - otherwise this makes no sense).
