HoneyBadger Posted September 5, 2019 Posted September 5, 2019 Oh god yes, especially some kind of attack helicopter. I know the Hind is coming but who knows how long that'll be.

Northstar98 Posted September 5, 2019 Posted September 5, 2019 (edited) +1 I'd love a wheeled helicopter, something like a Sikorsky S-70 variant, Westland Sea King Mk.5 (any Mk.5 version) heck even a AW109. To be honest I wouldn't even care if it was a civilian aircraft. Richard Dastardly Posted September 8, 2019 Posted September 8, 2019 Navy Lynx would bring radar/torpedos/depth charges/antiship missiles as well as being super fast & agile - the Lynx has the conventional heli speed record, albeit not the Navy one ( and you can squeeze a few troops in ). I'd prefer any heli to have a bit of a niche, so a MH-53 rather than a CH-53 for instance... or a SeaKing from a particular period like the Falklands, or something else from a particular period. I probably wouldn't bother with a standard Blackhawk, as an example & I fly rotary more than anything at the moment... Most Wanted: the angry Naval Lynx | Seafire | Buccaneer | Hawker Hunter | Hawker Tempest/Sea Fury | Su-17/22 | rough strip rearming / construction
Kang Posted September 8, 2019 Posted September 8, 2019 I feel the trouble with the Sea King and its close relatives could be that sooner or later we'd all try landing it on calm waters and that's probably a big problem for DCS. It would be a nice thing to play around with, though.

Yes you do speak for us! You speak for us and you need to speak louder brother! There are not enough choppers in DCS! Edited September 8, 2019 by Rogue Trooper HP G2 Reverb (Needs upgrading), Windows 10 VR settings: IPD is 64.5mm, High image quality, G2 reset to 60Hz refresh rate. set to OpenXR, but Open XR tool kit disabled. Would be good to get another western European airframe ( long combat record too ) but I'll take anything interesting. xvii-Dietrich Posted September 12, 2019 Posted September 12, 2019 The Lynx would be superb. Would definitely love that! Or perhaps a helicopter that sits well on the new "super carrier" (REF).
Grodlund Posted September 12, 2019 Posted September 12, 2019 Good Luck. ED has since long stopped listening to our pleas. Vote with your wallets, gentlemen. It's the only language they listen to. I Won't spend another dime untill I see the Mi-24 I even wish I could refund the Hornet and Tomcat, and I sure as hell aint paying no attention to the F-16 #butthurt "Your pumping days are over, Megatron!" -Optimus Prime "This calls for a very special blend of psychology and extreme violence" -Vyvian
BaD CrC Posted September 12, 2019 Posted September 12, 2019 Considering the amount of F-xxx (pick any number) that came out in a very short period, I think choppers went on the back burner for ED. Look at how fast they got the F-16 out from announcement to actual in game video (few months?). Now look at what we got so far for the Mi-24P since the announcement (2 years? More?). Just a few 3D untextured renderings of the cockpit. A pretty long stretch before we even got some in game videos. I think at best you can expect a revamped Ka-50 for Q1 2020. Makes me real sad but I understand the need for a company to make money and aim at the most lucrative markets. There is simply no way that choppers pilots can compete with fixed wingers when it comes to market share for this already niche market. FW are fast, can fly high and are super easy to handle. Kids got the instant thrill and the rewarding feeling is taking a few days until you can say that you are mastering the aircraft instead of frustrating weeks to simply land your chopper without loosing any parts. https://www.blacksharkden.com http://discord.gg/blacksharkden
Gierasimov Posted September 12, 2019 Posted September 12, 2019 ED already provided important bits of information that can be used to construct expectations. First, when it comes to Viper development, it's quick turn around is possible as Hornet development created tools and technology needed. Second, they are facing difficulties with Hind, which need resolving before development can proceed. I would imagine, that through doing this, they will analogically create such systems and tools that will allow for faster delivery of Cobra later down the road. Chizh said KA-50 update will be next year, I sure hope this is enough accurate but, as with any development, things can go wrong, and quick. As for the reasons or priorities between fixed wing and rotary wing, neither I know the percentage of the niche nor I know ED reasoning, therefore I shall refrain from speculating in this subject. I will be very interested in Hind as well as Cobra though. Richard Dastardly Posted September 13, 2019 Posted September 13, 2019 Someone persuade Razbam they need flyable helis for their Falklands efforts.... would stand a better chance of getting something that isn't 90s US that way. They've got a heck of a load there already, mind you. Richard Dastardly Posted September 14, 2019 Posted September 14, 2019 (edited) What we NEED is a Ch-53E... THAT is what we need!!! *MH-53 - CH-53 is just another large cargo helo, emotional attachments aside ( and this isn't directed at your personal tastes, but does everything coming have to be a US bird? ). If you're going that route - naval utility helo - then let's have a Sea King, those things turned up everywhere. If anything is a western heli icon it's that, not a Huey. Tippis Posted September 14, 2019 Posted September 14, 2019 Any tandem-rotor bananacopter would do, tbh. :D ❧ ❧ Inside you are two wolves. One cannot land; the other shoots friendlies. You are a Goon. ❧ ❧
mariner3302 Posted September 14, 2019 Posted September 14, 2019 You want a real helicopter? You have to go Sikorsky. And the biggest and baddest combat helicopter that fits into the current Terrain Maps is the H-53E... As far as US made, if the European Union or the Brits can match muscle with the Super Stallion... well, they cant so sorry.... i7-7700K, 32GB DDR4, 525GB SSD, 1TB HDD, GTX 1080Ti 11GB, Liquid Cooling, Win 10, Warthog HOTAS, TPR Pedals, HP Reverb, Oculus Rift with Touch, Jetseat and bass shakers, PointCTRL, and Scale F-14B Cockpit
Yeti-UK Posted September 15, 2019 Posted September 15, 2019 SH-60/SH-70 is the obvious choice, multi-role complex and carrier friendly.
mariner3302 Posted September 15, 2019 Posted September 15, 2019 Huey fills that role. Blackhawk fills the dedicated attack role, and the Hip is medium lift, multi-role. What is missing is HEAVY lift with speed and carrier manners. It is more complex than any other option. i7-7700K, 32GB DDR4, 525GB SSD, 1TB HDD, GTX 1080Ti 11GB, Liquid Cooling, Win 10, Warthog HOTAS, TPR Pedals, HP Reverb, Oculus Rift with Touch, Jetseat and bass shakers, PointCTRL, and Scale F-14B Cockpit
fargo007 Posted September 16, 2019 Posted September 16, 2019 SH-60/SH-70 is the obvious choice, multi-role complex and carrier friendly. This. The UH-60 / SH-60 series, even the L variant would be simply huge for DCS. Our entire squadron wants this like a fat kid wants cheesecake. Have fun. Don't suck. Kill bad guys. https://discord.gg/blacksharkden/
grimm862 Posted September 16, 2019 Posted September 16, 2019 If the AH-1 is really coming to DCS I might just be happier than a pig in shit.
