Great news, these planes are in almost perfect condition and I'm glad to see more airworthy Spitfires in the 21st century. Current airworthy Spitfire numbers are IMHO disappointing for such a plane that helped turning the tide!

Portuguese Air force has sent a detatchment to Cape verde, A P-3, and a C-130 landed there today.

The navy has sent a small fleet to Madeira Archipelago, but its known due to finacial difficulties the ships have been sailing with reduced crews.

Both Forces are to be in full on-call alert to advance for Guinea Bissau in case its needed to evacuate 3500 civilians as a military uprising is taking place there.

The Military units are armed with cruise missiles but with litle to no logistical capability to undertake such evacuation. The insurgements already have closed airspace and sea lanes. Not Good. :(

I wish the YF-23 would have been selected over the F-22...loved how that jet looked!

At least the t-50 has some of the beauty of the yf-23; I heard that even the russians believed that the yf-23 was the best airplane; what a shame.

Last one is awesome.

The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance.

 If she was better why then she lost?

Russian intelligence agency(KGB) believed in many things, for example that the YA-9 conceptually is much better than the YA-10. Now we have SU-25, what a shame indeed.

Because at the end of the day it was more of a prototype then a production-line ready fighter. The cost of hand installing (or figuring out how to automate) and maintaing the heat tiles at the engine outlets as well as sculpting the airframe (amongst other things) made it an impractical solution to implement RW. I think everyone generally agrees it was the best in terms of RCS, high speed maneuverability, and the other performance criteria (all still classified). The thing was apparently mind-bogglingly fast.

Also these things generally come down to political considerations as much as anything.

Perhaps more than anything, as seen in the contract-competition for new fighterjets here in Norway.

Clustermunitions is just another way of saying that you don't like someone.

I used to like people, then people ruined that for me.

Fatal one

But what about the first one? I can't seem to find any details.

Also on the report - my Russian got very rusty. Did I get it right that the crew failed to acknowledge the oil temp rise and gearbox failure warning light in time?
