According to silver dragon's DCS roadmap, there is a Korea map being planned for the future.:

https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=116893

Can we include the eastern coast of China as well, please? Like the picture below:

This way, we can simulate more scenarios. Scenarios include

1: WW2

That's why we have Hiroshima there. It is such an iconic event in WW2.

Edited:

Also, those Chinese area included in the map are also a big battle grounds in WW2 between China and Japan. We already have the I-16 which were used by Chinese Airforce at the time. Maybe some day, people will make A Mitsubishi A5M to match it. smile.gif

2: Chinese Civil War

In the Chinese civil war, the PLAAF had P-51 and Mosquito. P-51 we already have in DCS, while Mosquito is an upcoming module which will be made available in the future. The ROCAF side had P-51 and P-47. The P-47 is a planned modules in DCS.

Many of those cities on the eastern coast and north east China were historical battle grounds during the Civil war.

3: Korea War

Well, that's what Korea map is made for, and we already have both the MiG-15 and the F86F. But with Chinese east coastal city included, the Red side can choose to take off from those cities. I don't know if the Chinese P-51 had any encounters with the US F4U and UK's Spitfire during the Korea war, but F4U did serve in Korea war and it is an upcoming module too and the spitfire, well it is already in DCS.

4: Fictional Second Korea War

Basically with more modern jets than the old MiG-15 and F86.

5: Fictional conflict between South Korea and Japan around the Liancourt Rocks dispute.

Great idea. I am all for it. However it is a little small. A worst case full blown high intensity 2nd Korean War is likely to suck in PRC, RuF, and Japan. Thus map should include RuF city of Vladivostok and vicinity, part of Shenyang Chinese Province, parts of Shandong Province, Yellow Sea, Sea Of Japan, all of Kyushu Home Island, and East China Sea approaches. THreat of modern cruise missiles and submarines , make operating carrier battle groups in Yellow Sea and Sea Of Japan to risky. So East China Sea is the only approach wide enough to operate carrier.

See attached map.

Good points-but reality check-the Korean peninsula alone is 600 miles long . Even the OP's map would be oversize for DCS .

Yeah the main issue is that OP's map is waaay too big compared to other DCS maps, maybe with vulkan and a new terrain engine.

The second problem is "era" so you'd have to have at least 2 different maps for WW2/Korean war, and more modern conflicts. Take a look a picture of Seoul from the 50's vs today. The difference is massive. Same for every other city on the map.

Don't get me wrong, I'd love to see it, but I'm just being realistic about current DCS tech and actual effort involved in it.

Take a look at the total land area of our new "free" map... Its not even the size of Seoul....

New hotness: I7 9700k 4.8ghz, 32gb ddr4, 2080ti, :joystick: TM Warthog. TrackIR, HP Reverb (formermly CV1)

Old-N-busted: i7 4720HQ ~3.5GHZ, +32GB DDR3 + Nvidia GTX980m (4GB VRAM) :joystick: TM Warthog. TrackIR, Rift CV1 (yes really).

I can't imagine the amount of time it would take to make a Korea map like the one pictured above. The Falcon/BMS Korean map is larger than all of the DCS maps except the Marianas and that's maybe 5% land? What's pictured above would be by far the largest DCS map yet. Here's a link to google maps showing flight sim map sizes:

Actually, the South Atlantic (Falklands) Map is much larger.

For work: iMac mid-2010 of 27" - Core i7 870 - 6 GB DDR3 1333 MHz - ATI HD5670 - SSD 256 GB - HDD 2 TB - macOS High Sierra

For Gaming: 34" Monitor - Ryzen 3600 - 32 GB DDR4 2400 - nVidia RTX2080 - SSD 1.25 TB - HDD 10 TB - Win10 Pro - TM HOTAS Cougar

Mobile: iPad Pro 12.9" of 256 GB

Size you've proposed may be a stretch, but overall Korea map would be fantastic. As for now we have zero Cold War maps in DCS.

All maps like Persian Gulf, Syria, South Atlantic, Sinai, North Australia, Kola Peninsula you name it - are modeled as modern day. All this 20-30 Cold War DCS modules should have at least one single proper timeframe Cold War map.

Rural, little industrialized, mountainous 1950 Korean map would be awesome. Korea, Vietnam, Middle East, Fulda Gap, Kola, any of that.

Yes we need the Korean map. I like the fact you are asking for ,

I would also toss in a 1960s map- there were border classes between the PDRK  and ROK/US allied forces in the late 1960s which is when the USS Pueblo was captured by North Korea and there were fears it would explode into a full blown second Korean war.
