LuckyFromArma Posted March 7, 2020 Posted March 7, 2020 I just got a notification inside DCS that says "now you can install modules F-15C and SU-27" Is this something ED is giving us now?

LuckyFromArma Posted March 7, 2020 Posted March 7, 2020 (edited) Its a free weekend to try it out. Read the newsletter. This weekend only. So I can fly them this weekend and then they quit working or do I get charged for them, or what? I don't get the News Letter, BTW. Edited March 7, 2020 by LuckyFromArma

LuckyFromArma Posted March 7, 2020 Posted March 7, 2020 (edited) if you have flaming cliffs 3 you allready own them so there not free. I don't want them! I didn't ask for them, and I don't want them now. So what's the deal? Is ED going to try and charge me for something I didn't ask for??? This a really bad marketing strategy. On top of not wanting these modules, when they installed it messed up my keyboard shortcuts, so now every time I hit my space bar ShadowPlay starts recording, and when I hit Alt + Enter to put DCS into fullscreen mode my Task Manager pops up. Up until now I've liked DCS, but this is a deal breaker. Edited March 7, 2020 by LuckyFromArma

LoL, you get them to test them this weekend if you want to, after this weekend they disappear and you can buy them if you liked them and want them, if not nobody is charging you for anything. They did this with the F-18 and the F-14 also, people liked it because they could make a picture of the modules themselfes. Exorcet Posted March 7, 2020 Posted March 7, 2020 It's always the user's fault; right? I'm curious as to how you even downloaded them. It shouldn't be automatic, you have to go into the Module Manager and accept the download. Messing up your keybinds outside of the game is also strange, I think something else has happened outside of the module download. Up until now I've liked DCS, but this is a deal breaker. Idk I never would have considered FC3 modules because non-clicky. But now that I had a chance to try to the Su-27, I'm seriously considering buying the Mig29 or Su-27 modules.
unknown Posted March 7, 2020 Posted March 7, 2020 It's always the user's fault; right? I don't know if you use steam or stand alone, i use stand alone. And in that version i had a marking of 2 new modules in the main menu of DCS, i clicked on the module manager and it told me i could install both modules, i canceled that becuase i already own FC3. I can't speak for the steam version but if you are using the stand alone version you have to accept the modules in the module manager and only then DCS starts to download them! And the only mapped keys DCS ever overrided on my side were my HOTAS commands with DCS default ones. And considering you are the only person here on the forum having this "problem", yes it looks like a problem only on your side. But he, it's always the others fault, right? ;) Modules: KA-50, A-10C, FC3, UH-1H, MI-8MTV2, CA, MIG-21bis, FW-190D9, Bf-109K4, F-86F, MIG-15bis, M-2000C, SA342 Gazelle, AJS-37 Viggen, F/A-18C, F-14, C-101, FW-190A8, F-16C, F-5E, JF-17, SC, Mi-24P Hind, AH-64D Apache, Mirage F1, F-4E Phantom II System: Win 11 Pro 64bit, Ryzen 3800X, 32gb RAM DDR4-3200, PowerColor Radeon RX 6900XT Red Devil ,1 x Samsung SSD 970 EVO Plus 2TB NVMe, 2 x Samsung SSD 2TB + 1TB SATA, MFG Crosswind Rudder Pedals - VIRPIL T-50CM and VIRPIL MongoosT-50 Throttle - HP Reverg G2, using only the latest Open Beta, DCS settings

CBStu Posted March 8, 2020 Posted March 8, 2020 Whoa! Calm down and chill a little!! Agreed. I got the same offer. I did not download them because I wasn't interested. Nothing has changed and no one is charging me anything.
DW2020 Posted March 8, 2020 Posted March 8, 2020 I downloaded the SU27 to see what it was like. Havent gotten around to flying it yet and unlikely will get a chance before monday but oh well!
kontiuka Posted March 10, 2020 Posted March 10, 2020 Only difference between FC3 versions and stand alone versions are that the stand alone versions have their own music and wall paper and maybe some more missions.

TylerPL666 Posted March 13, 2020 Posted March 13, 2020 Yeah - same here. I was wonder is free weekend extended? Art-J Posted March 13, 2020 Posted March 13, 2020 You might have them installed, but you probably can't fly them anymore. They didn't install and, conversely, won't uninstall automatically. You have to do it yourself, manually in the module manager. i7 9700K @ stock speed, single GTX1070, 32 gigs of RAM, TH Warthog, MFG Crosswind, Win10.

Wali763 Posted March 14, 2020 Posted March 14, 2020 Only difference between FC3 versions and stand alone versions are that the stand alone versions have their own music and wall paper and maybe some more missions. Not sure. I bought the A-10A way before FC3 and right after installing FC3 the A-10A-Icon was gone in the menu. But once youre used to them clicky modules its hard to go 'back' to unclicky ones. Even most jets in FC3 actually would be quite interesting.....
