Raven King Posted August 25, 2020 Posted August 25, 2020 I know this topic has been discussed like a Zillion times, but in the name of Mercy I will stubbornly insist on it! Dear ED: Beautiful mod as it is, client-operated Skyhawks are totally dependent on the mercy of a GCI player through SRS who may or may not be available. The existence of the Community A-4 Skyhawk doesn't affect your sales. At least not more than the existence of the SU-25 you already give us for free. He who doesn't buy other aircraft is because he won't spend on them or he can't afford it, in which case Su-25 or A-4 doesn't make any difference. Or does it? So, please... Please!... PLEAAAASE! Allow the A-4 to have at least a simple radio system like the Frogfoot´s or the A-10A´s! (or at least tell us how to copy-paste the damn thing from them! Really!). I don´t know anything about programming, and I've heard you have your important bits of secret coding to protect. But you can find a way. This wouldn't cost you anything and the broad DCS Community would LOVE you for the gist, to the point it may actually boost your own sales of current and upcoming products. We are not only your target-market. We are also your fan-base. And some really good fans honored you with a beautiful mod. Think about it. Best regards, Luis
Baco Posted August 26, 2020 Posted August 26, 2020 I could not agree more. If anything the A-4E-c and the MB-339 are works of art, a result of passion and very, very hard work. You rare NOT going to make any of this two modules yourselves or any of your 3r Party partners.... Please Grace this mods with some sort of "in the middle" SDK. If anything it will bost your sales, we will need more theaters to fly it on, More carriers to fly it from...More Assets to destroy...

YSIAD_RIP Posted August 26, 2020 Posted August 26, 2020 Hard to Disagree! Almost a year ago, I started to get back into DCS World again. The MB-339 was the first free module I ever tried because I wanted to see what all the hype was about. The A-4E-c came a week later. Long story short, having access to that free MB-339 plus the plethora of DCS free trials and sales resulted in me buying 15 modules in 2020! I am a fan of the MB-339 and have great respect for the A-4E-c; rewarding the community with letting these two mods have some access to the SDK should be a brilliant move. I hope your research would show that such a move would create more interest and generate future sales of DCS world modules and terrain. "If you are happy with the results you are getting, keep doing what you are doing." Simple human nature: Now that I have the A-4, I want the future A-7 and I MUST have it! That's how people end up with huge collections! I have models that, after a year I haven't even learnt how to fly! Yep!:mea culpa!:D
Evoman Posted August 26, 2020 Posted August 26, 2020 (edited) There was some talk regarding this topic in the recent interview at 1:24:26. There has also been some recent discussions at ED about changing the way they bring in new people to DCS. Check out at 1:27:50. Edited August 27, 2020 by Evoman
Raven King Posted August 26, 2020 Author Posted August 26, 2020 Ahaaa!! Question 62 of that video. Yep! It is a matter of profitable business, which I can understand. Now, taking on account that the fans made already a lot of the work with the A-4, if ED could get the permission from Boeing and rework the mod, I have no problem with actually buying it. It'd be a product guaranteed to succeed because everybody loves it already. 30 bucks, 40 bucks. No problem. That's between 60 to 80 beers and I don't drink. :D
Baco Posted August 27, 2020 Posted August 27, 2020 Well They Just killed ti again.. new Pacth broke the Take off catapult made by the community because of the LACK of ED support for catapults on mods.. yet again... By the way I came back to DCS because of the Scooter....

Baco Posted August 28, 2020 Posted August 28, 2020 Talk about Dedication.. the latest Update wrecked half its systems.. The team is allready fixing it... On their own time, for free... I believe they definately deserve a little consideration, right? maybe a nice little API for radios and or catapults on carriers without SDK? or SOMETHING... I don´t know..

I hope this team is in the process of trying to get a license so they can achieve third party status and do the A-4 right. They could save them selves a hassle in the long run. If they don't get this done as an official licensed module they risk loosing all that work to another 3rd party if they obtain a license for it first. Edited August 29, 2020 by Evoman
Rudel_chw Posted August 29, 2020 Posted August 29, 2020 I hope this team is in the process of trying to get a license so they can achieve third party status ... Unlikely, as then this Mod would change from a hobby onto a job ... better to enjoy it as it is. Compared to the Su-25T I find it completely enjoyable, in spite of its limitations with the radio and carrier interaction ... for me it is much more immersive to be flipping switches rather than remembering keystrokes. While I do agree that there is a need for better free aircraft the A-4 will always have its limitations as a MOD. However ED has stated in their last interview that they are seriously looking at how they can bring in new people with different free aircraft.

That's what modders do. It's the same here as it is anywhere else. Mod compability is not the developers responsability. Also, you people can't cry for system revamps on one hand, and complain about broken mods on the other. In order for a mod to work in ANY game the core underlying system has to remain relatively static. Which is not the case with DCS per overwhelming demand from the community. Nobody put a gun to a modder's head and made them work a labor of love for free. If you want to compensate them, send them a donation. Send them your gratitude. But stop trying to offload their mod as somebody else's responsibility. Де вороги, знайдуться козаки їх перемогти. 5800x3d * 3090 * 64gb * Reverb G2

My gripe is that his people for free develop a BETTER product than several 3rd Party modules AND specially FIX, and SUPPORT the Module far more and better too... So maybe ED should find a way to support this modules that give MUCH more LIFE to DCS than more than a few Official or Payed Modules... Again NOT by preventing Bugs (that would be imposible) but by providing some sort of interfase or API to make them able to perform better, Specifically and API to be able to interfase with RADIOs, and Catapults on carriers. Now if you find that unfair, I am all ears...
probad Posted August 29, 2020 Posted August 29, 2020 (edited) the reasonable answer is to not buy the 3rd party modules that are of poor quality, not flouting policy and regulations. rather these infantile 'i want it so it must be done somehow' fits represent the height of unreasonableness. Yeah I have a thing with the A4.. sorry about the ranting... Its not Me wants it, so it must happen... Its more kind of: its well deserved... By the way the section is called WISH LIST.. so let me wish , would you? ANd I dont interpret any post here as a "demand", since that would be utterly useless..:smilewink:.
