HPET, seems to be a problem on older systems ymmv... though for fun I turned it on on my current box and it did tank the perf...

It's like so many things, what works for one doesn't necessarily work for others. The only way of working out what is good for you is to try changes and see the effects.

Question: is there any way to start  DCS by clicking on the desktop instead of Steam or something like that ?  Ive got a brainstorming  thinking on Reverb G2 vs Rift S ,  but dont want so many complications  prior  starting the Sim.

If you are running the standalone version of DCS, that's all you have to do! Just click on the desktop icon - I use Skate's indispensable utility. SteamVR, WMR, etc. all load automatically.

Been doing some changes / tests.

 

• Disabling/Enabling HPET doesn't seem to make any difference to FPS or CPU Frametime
• Pre Rendered Frames was set to 1 (so no change)
• ICUE and all other none essential services stopped - No difference

Im kind of stumped now ...... another 16GB mem arriving tomorrow so will test again.

Becoming disgusted with HP. Been waiting almost 2 months for a part to make my G2 operable, with no light at the end of the tunnel. Ryzen 5 5600X. WMR can't find VR device error.

My G2 couldn't be found by WMR using any USB 3 port on my 5900X motherboard. However, plugging an unpowered USB3 hub into any of those ports and the G2 into the hub works perfectly. It's an easy solution until HP and AMD sort it out.

run dcs repair, remove any files that are extra, re-download the mod, and re-apply the mod, good luck

Had same issue with my 3900X/B450 MB

Luckily, I had previously added a PCIE USB card. Worked immediately.

yep and the latest precision x1 had the BIOS update for Firmware support for my Graphics card. which includes rebar supporty, but obviously no MB support for me yet...

I've read they can be hit or miss. I originally got it to prevent ghosting of my X-56 throttle.

I blindly ordered that one. Got lucky I guess

Still trying everything but FPS/Frametime remain the same. Even if i set DCS to low settings! Also shader mod doesnt save any FPS at all? Weird

The Shader Mod has never done anything for my setup either. 
you’ve just got to try stuff and see what works for you.

It will depend on your settings , but, it won’t magically increase frame rates, it will reduce gpu frame times,  on my settings it allows me 90 FPS in free flight, but those settings are no MSAA and ss 80% in VR... More detail in my sig... if you are MSAA on you won’t see any frame rate improvement, what you do get is some stabilisation of frametimes in some edge scenarios...

I have full support now - EVGA MB bios, EVGA VBios for my RTX 3090, and the new Nvidia driver.

No idea what this actually does really. Just ran a Hornet campaign mission and everything seemed quite fine as always.

It doesn't do anything unless the driver profile is updated to support it. Which Nvidia is likely to either never get around to, or they'll test it and find out there's a performance loss and keep it off.

You can force it for DCS with nvidia profile inspector. Wouldn't recommend it but it probably won't break anything. Worst case you lose a marginal amount of performance. Best case you gain a marginal amount of performance.

Good to know thanks. I will just wait and see if Nvidia does anything with it.

In any event my system is ready should they do so. Plus I play some other VR games that might benefit perhaps.

No I had not, thanks for the link.

Yes in Nvidia Control Panel it shows I have Resizable Bar enabled.

Hmm... I updated my 3080 FE with that firmware, and still Nvidia CP says Resizable Bar = No.  On an Asus Prime x470 Pro and 5600x

Sure you've enabled it in your mobo's BIOS. I had forgotten that!

Ok - I had, but checked again. On the bottom of the BIOS screen when I highlight the Resize Bar option, there is a note stating to disable Compatibility Support Module (CSM) in the Boot menu. I'm not really sure what that is, but I disabled it anyway and now Nvidia CP says Resizable Bar is enabled.

If you had needed it (CSM) you would have found out pretty quick...

I disabled that yesterday. May do some testing tonight.
