Acedy Posted March 25, 2009 Posted March 25, 2009 They have a Tornado at Duxford, if that is airworthy Eagle could take it for a ride and collect all necessary data by themselves. :joystick: :D [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] *** SERVMAN SERVER MANAGEMENT MOD V2 FOR DCS:BS V1.0.1 *** *** VERSION FOR FC2 ***

MBot Posted March 25, 2009 Posted March 25, 2009 You are certainly not alone with your love for the Tornado ;)
Cap_Z Posted March 25, 2009 Posted March 25, 2009 One of my all time favs. Right up there with Janes Longbow and F-15. The thrill of flying NOE at 500 knots can't be beat.:joystick: Chances for a DCS Tornado are surely slim, but it would be a great opportunity for some great co-op on line play with this 2 seater bomber.:pilotfly:
815TooCooL Posted March 25, 2009 Posted March 25, 2009 I too loved DI, Tornado. NOE sensation so much kicked ass that No other sims came close. System: Core2Duo E8500, 4G ram, GTX260, SLC SSD, and Vista 32bit. LG W2600HP 26" LCD. Controls : MSFFB2, CH Pro throttle, Saitek rudder, Saitek throttle quadrant, and TrackIR4 BS Setting : medium with visibility HIGH More skill you get, more you Love DCS:Black Shark.
pyates2104 Posted March 25, 2009 Posted March 25, 2009 There was a tornado sim release in the 90's based on a GR1. It was quite accurate as far as speeds and equipment go. (I know because I was a Tornado engineer in the RAF for 10 years) The basic information on systems and avionics is all out there: Crew Pilot, WSO Armament Two internal 27-mm Mauser cannon with 180 rounds per gun plus more than 9000 kg of external stores on seven hardpoints, including Sidewinder Texas Instruments HARM Hughes AGM-65 Maverick British Aerospace ALARM Laser guided bombs like Paveway Bombs up to 450 kg MW-1 munitions dispenser Matra Apache Nuclear freefall bombs Power plant 2 x Turbo-Union RB199-34R turbofans Thrust: 38,7 kN (8700 lbs) dry and 66 kN (14480 lbs) with afterburner Dimensions Length: 16,72 m Height: 5,95 m Span: 13,91 m fully forward, 8,60 m fully swept Wing area: 26,6 sqm Weights Empty weight: approx. 13890 kg Max. external load: over 9000 kg Max. fuel: 4660 kg (5100 kg in RAF and Saudi AF aircraft) Max. take-off weigth: approx. 28000 kg Performance Max. speed : 1,452mph (2,336km/h) at 36,000ft (11,000m) Max. speed : Mach 2.2 at altitude Max. speed with external stores: Mach 0.92 (1110 km/h) Rate of climb: Time to 30000 ft (9150 m) less than 2 min Take-off field length: 900 m or less Landing run: 370 m Ferry range: approx. 3900 km Radius of action: 1390 km (750 NM) with heavy load, hi-lo-lo-hi g-limit (g-Limit): + 7,5 Customers The IDS (interdictor-strike) version of Tornado is in service with the Royal Air Force, Luftwaffe, German Navy, Italian Air Force and Royal Saudi Air Force.
mvsgas Posted March 25, 2009 Posted March 25, 2009 In the video you posted where several shots of Tornados with AGM-88. Can IDS Tornados Carry the 88? I thought only the ECR (Germany and Italy) could carry them. Is there a way to tell them apart from each other beside the ammunition they carry? Obviously the have different equipment, do they have different engines or any physical differences? (antennas, etc.) http://www.panavia.de/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=24&Itemid=41 To whom it may concern, I am an idiot, unfortunately for the world, I have a internet connection and a fondness for beer....apologies for that. Thank you for you patience. Many people don't want the truth, they want constant reassurance that whatever misconception/fallacies they believe in are true..
joey45 Posted March 25, 2009 Posted March 25, 2009 the fighter has a pionter nose but the others are probaly the insides.. Jag: not much in the way of classifeid stuff = no radar. The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance. Mustang Posted March 25, 2009 Posted March 25, 2009 I'd love to see the Tornado becoming part of the DCS series too  My first ever PC flight sim was DI's Tornado, i recall the difference in quality over the Amiga version i had, blew me away! :D
Dusty Rhodes Posted March 25, 2009 Posted March 25, 2009 I wish we could activate units of a group one at a time. I tried to build a scenario where as a Patriot was being built on an airfield and you had so much time beofre the whole thing became active. But you have to build it is a group or it won't fight, and you can't activate the individual units in the group seperately. I'm not aware of them being able to carry the HARM at all. The ALARM is better anyway due to it's loiter capability. <ducks> As for differences the engines in the German ECR are the same as the GR4 in RAF service being the RB199 MK105 but the Italian ECR aircraft have older RB199 MK103 engines as they are originally converted Luftwaffe IDS aircraft. As for other differences I have no idea other than the fact that the Luftwaffe ECR aircraft originally came fitted with some kind of recce equipment which later got taken out. The Italian ones being originally Luftwaffe IDS aircraft never had this system installed. Edited March 25, 2009 by deephack https://www.youtube.com/user/deephack
DocNobby Posted March 26, 2009 Posted March 26, 2009 I'm in for that tornado! DI's Tornado got me into flightsimming. Since I only had the demo version I was unable to fire weapons, so I imagined flying a 737 taking passengers from airbase to airbase. There were no such things as software stores in my town and it was "before the internet" (well at least for mee). :D haa... Memories... :pilotfly:
nemises Posted March 26, 2009 Posted March 26, 2009 ..there are some great screenshots of the updated Tornado model in DCS in the screenshots section....seems to be very very detailed.....!....suspiciously detailed :/
deephack Posted March 26, 2009 Posted March 26, 2009 I'll go poke about and see if I can find any manuals and information in the public domain. I think it's highly unlikely though, the RAF have always been very paranoid about even minor operational details emerging about their aircraft. https://www.youtube.com/user/deephack
2GvSAP_Dart Posted March 29, 2009 Posted March 29, 2009 Um, without looking at 60 pages, can we get some objects that generate a light source? You know, maybe a hand held strobe or a flashlight or a runway light or something? I'd really be happy to get that blinking light from the top of light houses placeable. Oh, and trigger-able. I need civilians and a "neutral" country option. And an ambulance. A military and a civilian one. And a cop car. And a taxi.
nemises Posted March 29, 2009 Posted March 29, 2009 ^^ seems reasonable.... They are adding in the patch the ability to trigger a ground flare at a location. Also, I've noticed the FARP's have lights that go on if it is dark enough. Would be good to have a static object that generates light, and can be enabled. I rather like the idea from Op:Flash (the original) , where vehicles can have their headlights triggered on and off .... I can imagine a ring of trucks turning on their lights to mark a temporary (ie stealthy) FARP
Belphe Posted March 30, 2009 Posted March 30, 2009 1/ Global Map 2/ F-16, F/A-18 C/D/E/F/G, F-14D, F-15C 3/ Ship Combat simulator addon like DW 4/ Tank addon like SB 5/ FPS addon like Arma 6/ Dynamic Weather or Real weather plug in like FSX 7/ Dynamic Campaign  Amen to that! :D SOO NOT POSSIBLE but SUCH A NICE DREAM... PS. Why not add a Train Simulator to that? ;D Never say never, Baby! [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Belphe Posted March 30, 2009 Posted March 30, 2009 Damn, that however reminds me of one of my old "ideas"... Do you guys think there will ever be a MODERN UNIFIED BATTLEFIELD ENGINE for all types of sims (with an ability to "slide" the time ;) for e.g. WWII sub sims etc.) that would allow linking of different games online and simulate all of them at once with the same HUGE ammount of immersion and realism? That's a challange... :smartass: Never say never, Baby! [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Dusty Rhodes Posted March 30, 2009 Posted March 30, 2009 I wish each Armored Personnel Carrier had a squad of infantry automatically attached to it and there was a trigger you could set to disembark or embark that squad as needed. As it is now, you can have a sqaud appear using the trigger system but you can't make them disappear, though I have heard that there will be a new trigger to make something disappear on command also. If that is so then the only reason why I would want my above request is for convenience so as not to make the process so clumsy. Infiniti3d Posted March 30, 2009 Posted March 30, 2009 (edited) I vote for a Activation key revoke utillity for the download version, released or build in this new patch maybe? So we can keep the piece of software we payed for and use it the rest of our live without thinking how much activations are left. Its very handy becouse when you run out by accident Tech support doesn't reply to your E-mail with the request for a solution! Edited March 30, 2009 by Infiniti3d
Weta43 Posted March 31, 2009 Posted March 31, 2009 (edited) Do you guys think there will ever be a MODERN UNIFIED BATTLEFIELD ENGINE for all types of sims Look up what the guys E.D. sub contract to with the A-10 simulator do for DARPA - it's exactly that. I vote for a Activation key revoke utillity for the download version, released or build in this new patch maybe? You mean make the game free to pirate just as the disks hit the shelves ? experimental_pilot Posted March 31, 2009 Posted March 31, 2009 A little bit of touching up on the Ka-50 and produce a Ka-52? :smilewink:
Infiniti3d Posted March 31, 2009 Posted March 31, 2009 You mean make the game free to pirate just as the disks hit the shelves ? __________________ Cheers. No acually i payed for it already and having major problems with my system and OS, so i had to install BS several times. I followed the deactivation proces and guide lines wich worked. After a few deact and activations the SF window tells me my productkey has expired and i have to buy a new one or contact product developer and expain the problem, so i did but no reply! I also tryed to activate online but no joy. BTW many games have serial revoke utillity's.
EtherealN Posted March 31, 2009 Posted March 31, 2009 Infiniti3d, I've seen a lot of people on the relevant support forums mention issues with needing to have their serials looked over due to computer problems, and in my experience ED are pretty nice about that.
