I want to make a poll to see how many times everyone has upgraded/reformated their computer since they originally installed LOMAC. Maybee this will help ED with their decision on how many times we can install their game with whatever copy protection system they use...

I've upgraded and reinstalled OS way more than 5 times :)

I was able to use saved registry quite a few times (when just reinstalling OS with no HW changes) but I ran out of my activation keys and I'm now using disk FC.

PC specs:

Windows 11 Home | Asus TUF Gaming B850-Plus WiFi | AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D + LC 360 AIO | MSI RTX 5090 LC 360 AIO | 55" Samsung Odyssey Gen 2 | 64GB PC5-48000 DDR5 | 1TB M2 SSD for OS | 2TB M2 SSD for DCS | NZXT C1000 Gold ATX 3.1 1000W | TM Cougar Throttle, Floor Mounted MongoosT-50 Grip on TM Cougar board, MFG Crosswind, Track IR

When I first got Vista, I was reinstalling 2x a month. Now that Vistas been fixed pretty good, I havent had to reinstall since July. Not even hints of a problem...now the only time I reformat is when I upgrade my hardware, and even then its usually something hard core.

It would be 5 or more times. Many more counting formats and hardware upgrades. The installations would ended a couple of times over.

Since i have a 80GB HD and the amount of things i create on it, it fills and gets degraded pretty fast. I will buy a new computer because of BS and ArmA2 with a bigger HD so hopefully this wont be needed so much in the future. But im going to upgrade piece by piece when BS is installed so im worried the installations will run out and i will have to beg for more that maybe takes time.

We dont know yet whats being decided on CP though, but thats my story and my predicted future. ;)

2x a completely new Computer, so with upgrades in between on the Hardware side already approaching 6 or 7 times. ( Minor upgrades, new HD, more RAM )

And I have a reputation for doing reinstalls... sometimes a few a week until I have got it "just right", and then sometimes none for a month or 3-4. Last Month I have reinstalled 3 different flavours of Windows about 7 times.

None, I only started this LOMAC/FC lark a few months ago and I run Vista which as somone has already pointed out it's as solid as a rock now it's patched properly.

twice proply, only had this system about two years. But then again i have the disk version..

The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance.

At least twenty :)

S = SPARSE(m,n) abbreviates SPARSE([],[],[],m,n,0). This generates the ultimate sparse matrix, an m-by-n all zero matrix. - Matlab help on 'sparse'

Started playing LOMAC on an AMD tbird 1200 with a Geforce 1 card (lol), then upgraded it to A geforce Ti4200. After another year I had an AMD 64 3200+. last year I got a Q6600 but I already swiched the CPU to a Q9550 and from a 8800GTS card to a 9800Gx2. Thats 4 upgrades.

The latest upgrade cost me 560 Euro but nearly doubled my FPS after Overclocking this latest part. Its now on par with the entry level Nehalem chips, at least for gaming that is.

Im going to skip the entire nehalem gen though. With those CPU's, overclocking to avoid buying a high end expensive CPU is over. Not only that but you require ultra expensive memory modules for the little overclocking they allow.

I am not going to change PC for DCS for quite a while since we wont see any western fast mover for years (the ones that will realy push avionics simulation on your CPU).

BTW I gave away my AMD64 to my sister and its still running and on its original WinXP install from purchase (4 years and counting!). :D And get this: it starts faster than my current PC. how about that?

Thanks for all the replies. Personally I'm on my 3rd PC since 2k3. Countless reinstalls and reformats. With Vista x64 my PC has been pretty much stable for over a year at this point.

I'll probably do a complete format when I get BS before I install it so I can save on activations and headaches down the road.

I just hope they allow more than 5 activations...

I had no problems with Vista x64 until I installed a RAID-0 array on my system. For some funky reason or other, it wouldnt let me install SP1, no matter how many times I reformatted, no matter how many different disk arrays Ive tried, no matter what nvraid/raid drivers I used. I trashed that disk after I tried installing Vista+SP1 for the 10th time in 2 weeks.

There is a BIOS update that addresses that issue for NV chipset boards seems like it was related to NCQ(Native Command Que)

Wow, I'm amazed that people reformat/upgrade their computers so often. I've upgraded once since 2002 and only reformatted one drive. The only reason I did the reformat was because I was fooling around with my new lap top and decided to search for a cheat for a game I was playing and was rewarded with a drive by install. I tried to clean the disk but never was able to completely get rid of the nasty software and decided to reformat.

Just as well since the factory install of course had its fair share of 3rd party software bloat anyway so I figured I'd kill two birds with one stone.

Although putting up with activation limitations is not something I normally have much tolerance for I think Black Shark is the one program I'm willing to make an exception for and trust in the good graces of ED.
