I have to be really honest and say that I am no longer sure that this airplane is going to happen. It's been eight years or so. I'm fully expecting this:

    "We at Magnitude are sorry to announce that we are no longer able to continue the development of the F4U Corsair. We understand that the community has been eagerly awaiting its release but due to problems beyond our control we are forced to halt development in order to continue working on projects we will be able to complete. We truly hope that at some future date we will be able to restart work on this very interesting and important airplane. For now, however, that is impossible. Again, we would like to apologize to the entire community and hope you will continue to follow the development of our other models for DCS."

To nick10 and javelina1, there is currently a WW2 sim with BOB (the Battle of Britain) and the North African theater. It's been around for awhile now. I'm sure you can find it with a little searching.

Yes, there is that. Also, I haven't played it in ages because the AI is awful. As in Jedi-reflexes, no laws of physics, total-immersion-breaking awful. Supposedly that's being fixed in the next update, which might be released... soon after the Corsair? Seriously, though, I'd love to get the Corsair, along with a healthy mix of Pacific Theater assets and the WW2 Marianas map. The Corsair by itself, not so much, because it would be just like the F-86 and MiG-15: a plane with no context.

That at least is the one thing I don't fear. The devs could have released the F4U years ago, with old damage model and 3D model, questionable flight model etc., but they clearly aim for perfection and have no hurry or pressure to have it finished by a fixed date.

 +1 ... fully agree, I have high hopes for their Corsair ... wish them a big hit and success, as that would make the feasability of a F8U Crusader much more likely.

I got my best A to A kill flying the Corsair in the Air Warriors online multiplayer simulation. Caught a P-47D diving on a target. I was fast and low ~2,000 ft over water. The 47-pilot zoom climbed. I followed him up, and took his wing off with a burst at about 10,000 ft. The comments in voice chat were "Boy doesn't he have a long time to fall". 

In Air Warriors, nobody can eject from the plane. You cannot respawn until your plane crashes. Also, nobody flew higher than 5,000 ft in that sim.

I thought about the fact that for a module which should be released soon M3 does not communicate much on the F4u. (This doesn't mean who won't come out one day, I'm just expressing my concern.)

now, i agree... partially..

heres the only part i disagree.  we have to pay money for this module. and the way i see it, they think we will buy it no matter what so they are being snobby about it. hence why they havent answered the cries of the community (the people who will buy it). so to buy it after disrespecting the community is just rewarding them for bad behavior. (figure of speech). 

thats the way i see and feel. and with no pressure from you guys "working" on the WW2 marianas map (that should have been released months after the initial) they have no incentive to actually hurry this along.

now im all about taking time and getting things right. but atleast PMDG comes back and apologizes for not communicating. SHOOT they even do weekly updates (or try to). you guys could even learn a lesson from them about giving fan service to your customers. 

this was not intended as a dig or insult. this was merely a customer and loyal fan expressing the concerns of being let down by M3 and ED over and over again.

I am sorry you do not like to wait, but that is what we all have to do. These projects take time and nothing is going to change that reality. When the team feels it is the right time to share news they will.
