MetalStormGhost Posted December 16, 2022 Posted December 16, 2022 As mentioned on the Invalid Ballistics Objects being created and not cleaned up bug thread here: ATGMs are not being cleaned up on impact. This used to happen with some WWII bombs also before 2.8, but now I'm also seeing it with multiple ATGMs (screenshot includes the AT-3, AT-5, AT-11 and the TOW). @Flappie, you had requested a track on the other thread. The attached track is from a We Run Liberation training mission, posted with the WRL crew's permission. You can see the ATGMs continue their journey underground. ED Team BIGNEWY Posted December 16, 2022 ED Team Posted December 16, 2022 Hi we are investigating this currently thanks Forum rules - DCS Crashing? Try this first - Cleanup and Repair - Discord BIGNEWY#8703 - Youtube - Patch Status Windows 11, NVIDIA MSI RTX 3090, Intel® i9-10900K 3.70GHz, 5.30GHz Turbo, Corsair Hydro Series H150i Pro, 64GB DDR @3200, ASUS ROG Strix Z490-F Gaming, PIMAX Crystal
ZuluThreeZero Posted December 17, 2022 Posted December 17, 2022 I first noticed this happening after the 2.8 patch went live on Open Beta, and it appears to still be happening following yesterday's update (17 Dec 22). It seems that when M1045 HMMWV TOWs miss their targets, the missile clips through terrain and falls infinitely beneath the map. It still exists on the F10 map, and can be viewed in F6 - indeed, as they're usually the oldest weapon "in flight," I find myself having to cycle through them by pressing F6 repeatedly to get to a weapon that I have just launched. I have so far only observed this in multiplayer games. I set up a simple mission to test this in singleplayer, and the missiles that missed their targets impacted terrain and exploded as expected. I originally thought it was only happening with AI units, but others pointed out, and I have now observed, that it happens with player-controlled vehicles too. The attached images show how the missile appears on the F10 map and the F6 camera. Note the altitudes in the bottom left of each image, compared to an elevation around Shiraz (where the missile was fired) of around 5000'. Some people have suggested that this might be a desync issue, that the shooter sees the missile explode but others see it falling, but I've been unable to recreate such an effect (I fired one at a hillside, saw it explode other players said it wasn't visible on F10 any more). The track of the screenshotted example exceeds 5MB, but can be found here. Watch for the second missile launched by Voodoo in the northwestern part of Shiraz shortly after the start of the track.
Flappie Posted December 17, 2022 Posted December 17, 2022 Hi. Thanks for your report. This issue is being looked at: 1 ---
Razor18 Posted January 2, 2023 Posted January 2, 2023 Hi There, in the F-16C A/G training missions, just before any A/G weapon (except for the BDU-33 inert bomb) impacts the target, DCS freezes, and this pop up error msg comes up. If I press Enter, it continues as if nothing happened. I have ECHO19 Core and ECHO19 F-16C sound packs activated. Could that be the culprit? Thanks 1
_SteelFalcon_ Posted January 2, 2023 Posted January 2, 2023 Well, does it happen if you remove the mods? If yes, maybe run a dcs repair and try again 1
near_blind Posted January 3, 2023 Posted January 3, 2023 That looks like a scripting error related to an event handler. Does this happen in every mission or just that one?
Razor18 Posted January 3, 2023 Posted January 3, 2023 (edited) Just during MAV training, and only when targeting vehicles on the ground (and the camo MiG in the background too!). The bridge shot doesn't trigger it. (Or maybe it is about MAV type? K doesn't do it, D does...) All mods disabled, full DCS repair finished, re-try training, again the same hickup always at the very moment I just captured in this new screenshot. Then if I press then Enter ("OK"), it goes on. By the way the training mission narration/text doesn't mention a word about TMS Right for TGP auto handoff for MAV. The narrator just says "designate the target on TGP with TMS up short, then watch the handoff happening on the Maverick screen". But without TMS Right Short handoff doesn't happen. Hope this helps ! DukeAngus Posted January 4, 2023 Posted January 4, 2023 the same error also happens in the f/a-18 operation pontus campaign when the ai kills targets with slamER 1
eror85 Posted January 19, 2023 Posted January 19, 2023 (edited) Hi I would like to report a bug... every time i've hit the secondary and third target in f16's tutorial mission 13 (maverick 65d) i've got the "mission script error" pop up message. Is there any solution? I tried to delete user/appdata/local/dcs folder, AND dcsworld/scritps folder (the whole folder) and then tried to run a file integrity in the steam... unfortunately these wont fix my problem. Edited January 19, 2023 by eror85
Tarres Posted January 19, 2023 Posted January 19, 2023 (edited) Same here in a non steam installation. After pressing "OK" the mission continues without any problem. Edited January 19, 2023 by Tarres
eror85 Posted January 19, 2023 Posted January 19, 2023 Yeah... if i click OK it is continues, but quite annoying
Milker Posted January 21, 2023 Posted January 21, 2023 Hi to all! I have exactly the same problem! If I hit OK mission goes on but it is really annoying! Don’t know if we need to do a DCS repair or something else! By the way, non steam installation here. Good hunting, Milker
Milker Posted January 21, 2023 Posted January 21, 2023 Exactly the same here guys! Open beta 2.8 23rd December 2022. Good hunting, Milker PS: there seems to be at least 3 different posts reporting this problem 1

I have the same mission script error. Check all files (slow) and Search for extra files after repair > didn’t work for me. I will try with 2.8 stable on another system, which had no problem on 2.7 stable. Milker

Razor18 Posted January 26, 2023 Posted January 26, 2023 (edited) Looks like near_blind already pinpointed the likely root cause above? https://forum.dcs.world/topic/316334-ag-wpn-impact-stops-dcs-with-error-msg-is-it-just-me/#comment-5121966 Edited January 26, 2023 by Razor18

Martin2487 Posted January 28, 2023 Posted January 28, 2023 The landing ship Ropucha in DCS is capable of sailing at a speed of 34 knots. According to public sources, this ship is capable of reaching a maximum speed of 18 knots in real life.
millertime Posted January 29, 2023 Posted January 29, 2023 (edited) I got the exact same error at the exact same time -- f16 tutorial mission 13 (maverick 65d) right when the missile is about to impact. I was able to continue after clicking OK as well. (edit: I'm on the Steam Edition) Edited January 29, 2023 by millertime add "Steam Edition"
