Good to know as it is in the main forum area.

I still don't see the reason to buy it appart of understanding the aircraft. All that would change with the inclusion of Dynamic Campaign. Hope this year we can see that finally after many many years.

Me too. My wild guess would be the D, as it's most produced/converted (correct me if I'm wrong)

Also I'm quite pleased that it's going to be an ED product, as so far their helo's are amazing!

You have chosen a helicopter again. I would have held any bet on a fixed wing. I would have lost.  And I think that's great.

And then also a transporter. GREAT!

Very good decision. Good that the German Bundeswehr wants to get some CH-47 for the troops. Let's see who is faster. In any case, think of a German skin.

Well, a new helicopter was overdue, if you ask me. DCS has way more fixed wing aircraft than rotary.

I was surprised though that it's the CH-47, my bet would've been on the Black Hawk. Not complaining, just surprised.

Given the layout (two rotors, good weight distribution) and size of the thing (or rather inertia), it should make a very good tool for beginners learning to fly a helicopter.

I also would have lost a lot of money on this bet had I made it. The UH-60 is absolutely iconic, celebrated, and capable with what is probably the widest mission set of any helicopter when you consider it's deployed in several different configurations across Army, Air Force and Navy. 

Of course we now want both.

Yeah, I'm sure the UH-60 will come eventually. Hopefully from ED themselves.

But now of course we know that it's unlikely that it'll come within the next 2-3 years.

Awesome that we are getting a Chinook (Puma next?...), being a cargo and troop hauler will it be able to properly affect the logisitics of a MP server?

A CH-53E Super Stallion would also be great. It's almost a must when we already have the CH-47.

But that we now also get the big birds in DCS like a C-130J and a CH-47 I find really great!

Then I save myself for another separate simulation, to be able to fly these birds too.

And fly them into combat. Hopefully the CH-47 will have a if it fits it flys feature like thay are saying the C-130J will have. Being a bit of a big bird will alow it to move enough fire power to the front to really affect a battle. I'm vary vary curious as to how it will plug into a dynamic campaign.

Incredible that ED have chosen the CH-47 to model as the next chopper in DCS. Truly incredible!

Such a machine, that has limited appeal due to weapons load outs, but is a sexual Tyrannosaurus Rex in the logistics field. 

If this is a statement of intent of the future.... then I am all in!

I am really looking forward to this Bluefor Giant.... master logistics of ground warfare.

dont feel bad about missing it its a very widely produced airframe and the differences between them are often subtle. the best way to tell is the rectangular sensor under the nose for the F model

To me the importance of good campaigns are always an issue. Love the hind but nothing noticeable in sp flying. Hate the ah 64 but learned it. 
not my type of flying. Huey and mi8 is my main go to and gazelle for fun short flights. 
I was hoping for Vietnam map and Vietnam era chinook but I take it anytime no matter what

Sure, but if you compare the amount of fixed wing aircraft to the amount of rotary in DCS, then there's still a big discrepancy.

And the last ones have all been attack helicopters, the last helicopter in the (mostly) transport-role was the Huey and that was ages ago. So yeah, I think it was overdue. Keep in mind that these tools played a central role in just about every conflict within the last 60 years. Even today, when fighter jets and attack helicopters mostly lost their purpose.

I know that most people prefer just shooting at stuff, but these helicopters in supporting roles can be a lot of fun if the mission/campaign design was done properly.

Besides, I have never seen helicopter Top Gun. Even Birds of Prey doesn't have a happy end.

Seriously? There are many more movies in which helicopters play a vital role than fighter jets.

Black Hawk Down, Apocacypse now!, Blue Thunder … just to name a few.

Titles on IMDB that contain the keyword "fighter-jet": 464

Titles on IMDB that contain the keyword "helicopter": 5507

(And yes, not in all of those does a helicopter play a vital role, but it's the same for the fighter-jet titles)

I have watched all of those+ many more, but none has the impact of Top Gun. Hence the FW numbers vs RW numbers in DCS
