HUH?  There's a standalone version?  🙂  First I'm hearing of it?  Where do you purchase it?

It's free 😄

You can convert steam purchased modules to standalone licenses but not vice versa.  It will possibly mean downloading it all again though....
It might be that you can copy the DCS folder to a new location and then tell DCS standalone installer to install in that new location and it might simply verify the files there and download any missing?

Try re-seating the cable in the headset itself. Might even flip it 180 degrees before inserting back in. Press firmly until fully seated.

edit: this was response to earlier post where there were connection issues with the Aero.

I think many of you guys are a bit nervous.
For those who were using OpenComposite prior to yesterday update:
Step 1. depending on your install method:
  • System wide installation: you can delete or keep the OpenComposite folder, it would make no difference after you do the next step
  • Per game installation: If you were using per game one you should restore openvr_api.dll file, if you dont have a backup you can run a DCS repair
Step 2. Depending of your headset
  • SteamVR headsets: go to SteamVR options and make SteamVR the default OpenXR runtime
  • Oculus headsets: For Oculus users, go to your PC software options and make Oculus the default OpenXR runtime
Done, you dont need no more, OpenXR Toolkit is just an ADDON to add some features and tweak some settings for OpenXR, its not needed but you can still use it
For any specfic problem with a headset there are dedicated topics here and i think its a better place to ask than a general topic

But if I not need of openxr toolkit, How I can change the settings.

you can start openXR from toolkit in Safe mode and when you start dcs CTRL+F1+F2+F3 will resest  everything. But on G2 without Motion Reprojection it is unplayable

Can u help me a best setting on it? What does it mean “reprojection” ?

As i said, is an addon to add some features and tweak settings of OpenXR games, obviously if you doesnt install the Toolkit you cant change it or use the added features

It's not this.  Thanks for recommending the step though.  It's kind of immature and silly that the DCS devs have a sticky post telling people to ask Varjo for support and that they want to help you and then you go to their support and they give you this:  "Go ask the other users"

Thanks - this was an issue in the past but is not the issue now as I tried that several times over.

BTW the sticky posts on this forum saying to go to Varjo support for help are complete and utter nonsense... they want no part of that. "go ask our users" so no difference than asking questions here.... really annoying being mislead by developers trying to shift responsibility off to each other or the user base because they know the users are hardcore troubleshooters and will do the work for them = LAZY

Odd I have not used it in a while but when I did found Varjo support to be quite good.

I don't understand nothing. Now mt/DCS opens in OPenXr mode regardless of whether I put the parameter or not ( --force_enable_OpenXR) . Anyone could think that it is because of openComposite but the reality is that I have forced it, on purpose, in SteamVr mode and it continues to load in OpenXR mode

I "think" currently MT only runs in Open XR natively. No more Open Composite requirements either.

I tried to run it in SteamVr mode to see how the performance was going (in case it had improved) and I got this surprise. In other patches I could do it. Thank you both for the answer, that's what I suspected. I don't think DCS has said anything about this.

I rectify what I said, he said it here:

RTX4090/13700K/WINDOWS 11/OPEN BETA/ /REVERB G2/Open XR tools preview runtime checked/VR checked in DCS

I was in the MP lobby in VR yesterday and realised I needed to update. After update DCS would now not launch in VR at all. No splash screen, nothing in MT or ST.  it would launch in flat screen so I performed a full DCS re-install. Still no joy in VR. I tried with a new saved games folder with the same result.

Performed a full Windows 11 re-install last night,  downloaded DCS and it worked first time. but just the once. Since then same result.

I've attached the logs in the new Saved Games folder.

Would really appreciate some help, pulling my hair out with it.

I think you installed DCS on your "C:" drive in "Program Files".  Try installing it elsewhere, on a separate drive.

Turns out I can launch in VR if if I launch with admin rights but only if I open the Mixed Reality Portal after I have launched and the first small splash screen appears. If Mixed Reality Portal is open first I get nothing at all. Any ideas?

Solved. It seems there is a bug in my latest motion platform software. Uninstalling it solved the problem immediately.

So, following some advice I tried disabling OpenXR Toolkit after deleting/uninstalling opencomposite only some small amount of improvement, I'm on a G2 so WMR is part of things, not sure if making better or worse. Still so many jitters looking in the cockpit.

I have a G2 Reverb and WMR opens by default when I put the G2 on, when I open MT all works OK but still have jittery experience

When I opened ST it seems to want to open Steam VR and I guess OpenXR, 2 instances to some extent.

I have a 5800x 32gb and a 4080 what is the current MT recommendation to use the G2 in VR? I'd say my experience has gone backwards somehow after last couple updates and now tinkering. I don't think you can open MT in Steam afaik.

If you're having a good experience in VR with the G2, how are you opening / using?

Thank you!

I have a pretty good experience with a G2. I get some jitter, but I think that's just DCS. I use OpenXR with OpenComposite. Do not have the OpenXR Toolkit installed. Just OpenXR Tools for WMR from the Micrsoft Store. System is 11700K, Z590 mobo, 64GB RAM, RTX 3090, M.2 NVME drives.

Why Open Composite when DCS supports Open XR natively now?

I just haven't had any issues with the way it is and didn't want to add the force command to the exe.
I actually didn't even realize that the command string wasn't needed with MT until yesterday.

It might even bypass OpenComposite entirely if you're using the MT exe
Possibly. I'll check if OC launches when I get on again.

Thank you for the reply and encouragement. I've updated OpenXRToolkit (mine was really outdated, seemed to make a pretty big/positive difference) and added the "--force_enable_VR --force_OpenXR" as BigNewy said, I couldn't figure out how to disable the open composite tool but I think bipassed it. All the other stuff combined, Nvidia Control Panel recommendations etc. really didn't do much, adding the --force_enable_VR --force_OpenXR to the MT/MultiThread file as shown, really made the biggest difference in getting back to 60fps consistently. I am still getting a little jitter, mostly in the F16 (I don't understand that) but much much better. Thank you again to those providing some guidance for the eager, but less informed 😉

Until I added the text string as BigNewy showed, I don't think opencomposite was bipassed, I don't have any way to check or compare, except for the end result. Updating OpenXRToolkit and adding that text string were the 2 biggest improvements for me.

I have a 5800x 32gb and a 4080.. pretty happy overall, kicked ground textures back up to high, visibility up to high, water high, clouds high.

I followed the example from the post I quoted above.

Yes. Just start the streamer (Pico's free Streaming Assistant or Virtual Desktop if you have it) then launch the dcs.exe found in the bin-mt/ folder of your DCS installation. If it starts in 2D, check that "use VR HMD" or something like that is ticked in one of the tabs of the DCS settings screen then restart. You may also want to begin with the VR preset in DCS's graphics settings for a good experience, then go for higher settings if your system is up to it.
