I searched for banding but surely missed that thread. Sorry.

Quest Pro user here.

OpenXR is an API that runs natively with the Oculus Software. No need to install anything. DCS runs also on the Oculus API by default with 2.8.2.35759 Open Beta but there are still some visual and gpu performance issues even on Oculus API right now. OpenXR runs only with a special command line shortcut (DCS.exe --force_enable_VR --force_OpenXR).

If you want to play DCS without these issues, I suggest you roll back from OpenBeta to Stable DCS 2.8.1.34667.2.

OpenBeta is a VR mess since DCS 2.8.2.35632.

I hope they figure this out with the next updates, I also stopped playing right now.

I just updated open beta to 2.8.2.35682, but I don't know if that's when this issue started. I noticed that when flying the Caucases Free Flight mission just to test the update, and while in the F4 view, there are evenly spaced lines all across the wing that change in spacing and angle as the orientation of the aircraft changes.

I've marked some of them in red in the screenshot below. In this orientation flying straight and level after setting the AP to Heading and allowing the aircraft to change course and settle out they extend from the front to the rear of the wing as shown. Also in this specific orientation, they creep slightly to the right every few seconds.

Thank you!

I have the exact same thing and have tried everything to fix with no luck.

Well I reverted back to 2.8.1.34667.2 to test it out. No banding there.

I used the same track replay as above, so exactly same conditions etc.

That's a bit of a downgrade and HORRIBLE.

I have the same thing and the carrier deck looks horrible!

Devs are working on a fix.

Yes, thank you, I know. Pity only that the patch will be 1.03?

@BIGNEWY (or you? Sorry, maybe Im wrong) wrote that it's fixed alredy (in internal build), however the problem is that is visible in cockpit too (shadows on panels from gauges etc). Looks really ugly, simply (always, even on High shadows settings, now even the settings don't affect it). Maybe hotfix? 🙂 Its present in 2D too (but less visible I suppose).

I don't know if I can keep flying with these stripes for another month.... they drive me crazy 😜. Also the past OB patch brings few important bugs (like issues for OpenXR file, some problems with 3th party addons (Razbam, Indiafoxecho) which as we know are fixed already. So pls think about any patch before this 1.03. Its a long time from now!

No, I have no such influence on devs since I'm not part of ED. Better ask BIGNEWY or NineLine, indeed.

I started to notice weird lines(idk what the technical term is) showing on textures in game. I started testing settings 1 by 1 and I noticed a difference when it came to the "Shadows" setting in DCS. When the "Shadows" was set to "High" I noticed the lines appearing on the outside of airplanes as well as in the cockpit in some areas. I switched the setting to "Flat Only" and I found the issue not occuring anymore. I believe this to be a bug as I would love to start using higher quality shadows to make the game look better. Test results below

"Shadows" set to High

I notice there is strange texture on the skin of the plane. I tried to change the graphic setting. but it still there.
And this texture is more clear when the mission time is in the moring and evening. if the mission time is 12:00 the texture is not so clear.

It's a known shadow bug introduced in latest Open Beta. Affects all aircraft, apparently it's reported and the fix is in the making. I guess we'll just have to live with it till next update in March.

Hia, havent played in a month or so but

can now see weird ridges/bumpy/stripes effect on aircraft wings. Messed with user settings with no change in effect. As i zoom in it changes scale but is still present. Will be happy to provide other screenshots or anything if this isnt already a known bug 🙂
