@BIGNEWY Any chance we'll get a new stable version soon?  Quite the performance and feature difference between the two now (excellent work by the way!)

Hi, glad you are enjoying.

We need to collate more data and work on the reported main issues to get ready for a stable version.

I have no date to share currently

thank you for your patience

I'm really happy to have this update and enjoy the success of others in VR as well, thanks ED!

For me personally it's a mixed bag when using the bullt-in instant action SP missions with several airplane types:

  • no breathtaking fps gain (39-40 to 42-43), about 10% maximum, this MT will not give magical 90 fps for VR yet
  • the existing settings has to be adjusted: bye-bye 300% supersampling in OpenXR and using FSR in OpenXR toolkit, because its definitely worse than ST version (even the menu is 75 fps max)
  • more microstutter in MT than in ST, but it's unpredictable; certainly no "buttery smooth" feeling, sorry.

There is a good reason, that this is a version got 2.8.3 numbering and not 2.9.0 or even 3.0.0, I know.

Eagerly waiting for DLSS and Vulkan for the possible really big boom in VR performance. This version is nice, but this time instead of the WOW feeling I got a meh now.

Keep up the good work!

Cockpit lights don't work, you can see vehicles and aircraft from miles away through clouds and fog, and cockpit tool tips don't work. I love that this patch has come out in the beta version, and that we have a choice of which executable to run, but it's not ready for stable.

Not complaining to the devs, as I appreciate all of their work and communication on this board. But there are still big bugs, as will be expected with this big of an architecture change.

I think its because this MT implementation its parallel with the core being still ST, i expect they change the version number when MT finally substitute ST.

The stuttering in MT is weird, i was having from time ago stuttering on the cockpit when i look around, now this stutter looks that dissapeared but now ground movement stutter while cockpit not

To be honest I wouldn’t mind the ability to turn on/off cockpit tool tips.   Is that already a thing?

I’ve also noticed a lack of warning cues from SAM’s which I believe ED is also tracking.

A work in progress, but overall a massive leap forward.  I sympathize with those experiencing frustrations, and I’m sure the team is working hard at the bugs.

Loving the boost from MT! Especially on MP like Grayflag Syria, between 95-130 fps for the entire two hours I was on last night…. Nuts! Yeah there’s a few bugs ( to be expected ) but so far they are minor inconveniences, not game breaking (for me anyway).  I’m overall very happy, especially for a first iteration. You guys nailed it ED! Keep up the good work!

After  spending a couple of days with it I am so loving this update for the MT, I really gained in performance nicely.

Please though ED for the love of all that is holy, fix the native Varjo Aero implementation! Currently we have to use a Mod - a wrapper provided to us by @mbucchia to get our Aero to run properly now in DCS. Thanks goodness for his efforts in providing that to us. And with that of course comes trying to keep it running properly through more updates to come.

Currently Aero defaults to quad screens in DCS and we have to use this wrapper to correct that. No Aero has 4 screens. Can we please get a fix for this?? DCS should NOT require a Mod to be able to run Varjo Aero headsets in native Open XR.

I was doing research for buying a new pc for DCS after the 2.8 update as i solely fly in VR...stopped the research after the MT-update 😉

My .02:  Firstly, thanks to everyone involved in continuing to improve DCS World!  This MT advance and other improvements in code efficiency translate to a much smoother user experience in my case.  However, we've seen in the past that with the addition of large new blocks of code key functional items broken which gave a false sense that the engine was running smoother:  path finding was off and broken, object view distances were borked, shadows completely messed up, various ai engines broken, etc...Once these functions were restored, game speed suffered tremendously.  In the MT patch, I see broken shadows again, broken EW systems, broken ai formations, broken lighting on supercarriers, and that was just with a few hours of testing.  Hopefully, as these items are addressed we won't see the degradation of performance seen in the past.  Again thanks for all the hard work!

Whtat happen with shadows? I use flat shadows for grounds and works better than ever, at least in MT

No and Flat shadows are fixed along with mountain object shadows but the Low and Medium settings are borked in VR in the MT version.

Last time I looked, mountain object shadows were still broken. Assuming we're talking about the same thing.

What I see: In certain scenarios, say sun in the east, mountain between me and the sun as I fly through a valley... shadows cast on the west side of the mountain project horizontally into the air, not on the ground.

MT is coming to dedicated server in the “future”. Does this mean that any performance improvements realized will only be noticed in single player?

This last parch give me a good experience, the simulator goes very smooth, in high settings (about 45 fps in high settings and about 60.. 70 fps with medium settings).
With the "normal" open beta version, I've about -10 fps with same quality presets, but goes smoothly too.
But he goes in any case very smooth,I think better than other versions.

(with an old I5 4690k@4,4ghz, GTX1070 and 24 gb DDR3 ram).

The GPU and CPU use it's about the 100%, I know that I've a good bottleneck in this simulator, but this is not a problem, at the moment

Are these the shadows on mountains that's seen when flying low? Like someone is turning the lights on and off over areas (lol)?

I have my shadow setting on Medium and have this issue (with VR at least, haven't checked without). It's been happening since before MT though.

Wow this new MT has made a huge improvement on Super Carrier Ops using the Hornet. Major improvement!

No it means that at the moment only the workload on the client side is done by MT. The server,if you fly in Multiplayer, has to work his stuff on ST. But your clients part will benefit from MT.

Thanks to DCS, ED. and all of the posters on this forum --  I can now get 120 FPS at 7000 Balt in VR with MT. (60 to 90 in the weeds) I think that is amazing.  I have spent 5 days tweeking and changing settings of all kinds.  It has been a lot of work with many trials and errors to get there.  I hope that many of you will do the same and see how great MT is.

I9-12900K, RTX3090, 64Gb ram, Oculus Quest 2, steam, most settings in DCS systems on high or close to max, some things off completely. Test bed has been Syrai, free flight, instant action, F/A-18 Hornet, no mods, using oculus tray tool.

Finally it is time to go blow things up and stop testing.

GunFreak   - that is a large request.  Give me some time to work up the list, maybe sometime by tomorrow night.  I have used/changed/ so many things to get here so I need to list things and then describe what I found out about them. Please be patient.  I am not a geek so this is hard to do, just an old man with way to much time on his hands.
