👉 Pls connect Normandy 2 with Channel map! 🧡

I know, Normandy did Ugra, Channel did ED but from user perspective we have now quite big Normandy 2.0 map and small Channel map. Two maps of the same area that could be together. So we lose space on the disk (we lose space for mesh, textures and some objects) and in addition we now have an artificial division.  It's also not a good idea to create campaigns that instead of being on one map are on two separate ones. It doesn't make sense from the user's point of view.

The bigger problem is that the map of Normandy could easily include a more detailed area of the Channel map (after all, this area is on Normandy 2), but it doesn't because the "owner" of this part of the land is ED. Managing both maps separately is also more difficult, and Ugra showed with Normandy 2 that it is able to perfectly prepare an older map and combine it into a new one.

However, maybe one of the companies would buy a map from the other and make one nice and full map? It colud be Normandy 3.0  .

I don't think anyone needs convincing.

I also think this is a very valid argument. Adding a Channel map would open the way to a new DCS chapter DCS: Battle of Britain so Emils, Spitfires Mk 1 & 2, Hurricanes, Stukas, Bf-110s, He-111 etc.

There would be lots to do so the gain is obvious! 😝

Btw. this is a map of IL-2 Cliffs of Dover. So even Normandy 3.0 would be a bit bigger. Channel, on the other hand, is a map too small for BoB.

YoYo... ED has very clear about they dont get The Channel Map to Ugra Media on past posts, ED has own plans to build module to match with your maps, we need expected to "Whole earth" technology to interconect maps, and that forum has only cented on ED and DCS World, no a continuos comparative with others products.

Oh dear. Where’s that pic of the can of worms?

Personallly, I’d love it. I don’t see it happening somehow (prove me wrong, I beg ya).

I’m loving the new airfields on N2 but when I can take off from West Malling then fly over where Hornchurch, BIGGIN HILL, Manston, Hawkinge etc are yet not even see the fields? Errm … All too much nonsense, even for me and I’m speaking as a fully certified Professor of nonsense. I love both Maps and their fields, and their landing grounds. And their streets, and the beaches, we shall never merge, never the twain etc…

Maybe someone will not only merge the two but stretch the map of Britain right up to Scotland? Would love to see it further North (Bomber Command etc) either way but DCS seems to be focused towards anything post ‘44. BOB era seems to be well catered for elsewhere and to me it seems ED wouldn’t want Mk1 Spits & Hurris having a go at He111s or Stukas? It’s a bit mind-boggling at times but I can’t get off the sim long enough to be troubled. Tick tock

Vote for merge

make the stretch

map the fields 🙂

ED dont have centred on 44... the old RSS WW2 KS was centred on 44 rescue by ED... the problem about the WW2 modules has dispersed on the time from 1940 to 44:
P-51D-20/-30: 44/45 aircraft version (ED propeller tesbed module under DCS engine 2012)
Fw-190D-9: Sumer 44 aircraft version (ED KS adittion)
Bf-109K-4: August 44 aircraft version (RSS KS promise)
Spitfire Mk.IX: April 1942 aircraft version (RSS KS promise)
Fw-190A-8: Feb 44 aircraft version (RSS KS promise)
P-47D-28: 44 aircraft version (RSS KS promise)
Me.262A-1: 43? aircraft version (RSS KS promise)
I-16 type 24: 39/40? aircraft version (Octopus-G)
Mosquito FB.VI: 1942 aircraft version (ED)
F-4U1D Corsair: April 1944 aircraft version (Magnitude 3)
La-7: Sep 44? early aircraft version (Octopus-G)
F6F Hellcat: 1943? aircraft version (ED)

Ugra media only expand the old Normandy KS 44 and actualy ED has plans to build (Nick Grey CEO) on make BoB modules and a unkonow WW2 map after the F6F Hellcat and free Marianas WW2.

You mean that we'll have to buy again the same map for a BoB scenario. Sorry but one time, we'll stop to buy the same thing. And what about the plane for the Bob, even if i love to have the BoB.

So, unless ED does a full modul including map and airplanes, I don't think people will check out again and again.

And they have to complete the asset pack too.

No, that's not said anywhere. The planes from BoB, if they come when they come, will be new modules so of course you'd have to buy them. The map, we don't know if it's adapted to match BoB 1940 layout how or when it'll happen, but another update alike N2 in time might happen, why not, and specially if they make it bigger and all (specially towards the East of Europe). These maps and handmade, I believe the job needs to be compensated somehow.

What exactly is a 1940s "BoB" layout compared to the 'Channel' or Normandy  V1, V2. and how does that justify a new map of what we have any way? Just amalgamate them.

'Should' happen, IE. the 'Global'. but ED seems to want to go the most difficult way possible...

Your opinion, not "We"... ED dont release "complete packs", they make realistc modules, and the maps move alone of them. If you dont like purchase the channel, previously to the actual Normady 2.0, are you decision only.

Assets Pack has very dificult to complete with some thousands to tens of thousands of units to build, only on WW2 periods of Allieds and Axis units, and not, that goes very outside of the "promise" units by los RRG Studios KS.

Actual Normandy 2.0 + The channel Map.

This is indeed a valid argument! 👍

If I am not mistaken, Normandy 2.0 and the channel map are the only two DCS maps that overlap in some places.

If one wants to fly from one of the new Normandy 2.0 airports to say, Manston near Margate,

using the Normandy 2.0 map, no way... because the Manston airport does not exist in Normandy 2.0, only on the channel map.....

As do many other airports, present in Normandy 2.0, but not on the channel map. And... viceversa....

Yesterday I flew in the N'2 area containing the Channel map. Interestingly, in total ... everything is there: textures like in the rest of the N'2 map, trees, buildings, roads, trails and we even have a radar station! 😁 The only thing that N'2 differs from Channel Map is that there are no characteristic buildings (e.g. a castle) and, of course, airports 😑.

I have the impression that Ugra wanted to join this part to N'2 but somehow they didn't get ... permission?

Maybe at least ED would agree to add only take-off and landing runways along with parking places? All in all, the terrain is there, but it is completely useless. It's a pity it's so empty in that regard 😞.

Or .... can someone make a free mod with runways here (if it's possible)?
