That video looks quite professional to me. Granted it doesn't have the hollywoodesque bells and whistles to it, but it highlights the information relevant to potential military customers.

Agree with sobek. It's the content that matters, especially if one has regard to the target market.

I agree the content is all there, I just felt the presentation was not what you'd expect for promotional material. For example, we miss the first impact of artillery and the fps drops very low in some points (no doubt due to Fraps). It just felt unstructured and unpolished. Please understand that this is meant as constructive criticism.

The video isn't look like professional.

First of all - it laggs, really. Low fps and laggy textures. Professional video (especially for PR purposes) must be smooth. Professionals don't do laggy videos. They just don't release such things.

Second. You need to see text in order to read it. Or you suggest to pause video everytime you trying read the text? It's not professional. Professional knows for how long text must be shown on the screen.

And yeah, timing things, angels, lotsa things.. just way not professional.

I think TFC should consider getting GA to do some of the TBS promo stuff

I really don't think GA can be called "professional", but yeah, his videos are better than "this".

Deculture!

You could just purchase FC2. :P

Can't click the buttons in FC2 ><

Black Shark spoiled me and now there's no going back. Then again once that platinum edition or whatever comes out I'll probably get it. If there was a downloadable LOMAC I'd already have it. I can't even remember the last game I bought on disk. Speaking of which the disk isn't required to play right? Part of the reason I make DL purchases is because my laptops DVD is broke (along with the screen and a few other items).

As far as I know the disc version will have the exact same protection system as the download version, just a different delivery medium, so you do not need to have the disc in the drive to play.

Would a few star wipes make it look a bit more professional? :D

Military customers are not interested in fancy videos.
Wrong, wrong, wrong. TBS is not made by "garage company". Little more touch would be hardly needed. Why there are blue boards with violet fonts? Colour is so important. Last researches found out that even B2B marketing works very similar to B2C marketing. Those people in business do same irrational movements as common clients. Times change. Emotional load in promo spots and in other kind of adverts is very important.

But what does fancy mean? Hollywood style is not what I meant. I know military market is very specific and TBS clients is a tight group. But you should build a mark. Fundamentals in marketing don't change.

[EDIT] Later I try to explain better what I mean on YT clip examples - right now i'm not having time unfortunatelly. Meanwhile:

You guys appear to forget that the military clients make their purchase decisions based on live demonstrations and thorough analysis, not youtube videos. ;)

Do Lockheed Martin's adverts look like this? No. And they don't sell their products in shops. You guys appear to forget that the military clients have eyes and feelings too. ;) I got your meaning but you simply don't get it with all do respect.

Heh, just what i was going to say. I work in a media company and even with ‘the power of YouTube’; it is not a primary marketing tool, (more an interest generator). Clips, (invariably low quality, poor fps), always make it out though.

Basically if it’s not on a company’s official YouTube page, and ED have one, then it can’t be considered indicative of the quality of the product. A company cannot easily police youTube content therefore shouldn’t be judged on it. :smilewink:

Ps. And a bit of “wobblecam”, probably wouldn’t sway military budgets.

That video is not gonna sell anything, even I'd do better than that (but not by much :) ). I think TFC should consider getting GA to do some of the TBS promo stuff, doesn't have to anything fancy, but it'd look professional.

Nate

I produced the video, I apologise, it is crap.

My excuse is that I had to produce a QAD (Quick And Dirty) for military customers to explain concepts.

When we have time, we will get a better version from GA.

I don't know if these were even shown at the expo, but I just assumed those latest videos were made to be played on repeat at a booth, and that's why the editing was simple and quick. I don't know if that's actually the case, but I can understand why the editing of a video wasn't given top priority when there were probably tons of other stuff they had to do to set up for it.

We got to see the A-10, though, and I can't complain about that. ;)

True, i don't get paid for this, so on that basis, its work of an "Amateur".

But, it's not the creator of the movie who will "sell" to customers. It's the content of the movie that matters, and how *everything* falls together. :)
