The anxiety of not being able to play DCS MP speaks volumes about how great the game is. I play regularly with my friends. Imagine a bowling alley having power outages 😆

shockingly bad prep ED, shockingly bad!

Thanks for keeping us abreast anyway but a great reminder that you own the modules and that we essentially rent them.  That's right peeps - no ED, no modules.

I explained in an earlier post but will again.

The saved auth works for versions you have logged into previously, as the update has hit and the version number has changed the saved auth isnt working. This with server load issues combined is creating this problem. the team are working on it.

thank you

Thanks understood. I hope that for future versions it will be solved and this will be more flexible. This way you will avoid these problems.

Not just the MP - Not being able to use a product AT ALL, a product people have paid a lot of money for. It's not working even in single player because.. well, i don't know, because of reasons.

There is absolutely no reason whatsoever to block people from using the products they paid for in single player no matter how many servers are down, single player should never require any servers to be up.

Well the game knows what modules you've had earlier and what you have installed - it would be fair to assume you still have them and let you play them if the servers are down.

Guys, what happens if you close DCS, disable the network card/unplug it, and then start DCS?
I'm not at home, so I can't check this myself.

Cheers!

usually it would, however the auth needs a login on the version you are using, as the login server is having issues with the updated version the auth is not able to happen. This has created the the problem. The team will look for a solution.

thanks

there's a popup that says in order to play offline you need to have saved password and successful login, which seems contradictory🤷‍♂️

Ah, I see. Bummer.
Might work if one haven't upgraded/logged in then?

License check requires a connection to the authorization servers. This scenario was, what everyone feared, when the shift to the online license check was announced.

I am baffled, that it seems all servers are still running in the same domain, bottlenecking all services, not just the website or store.

I sincerely hope, this is an incentive to consider some overdue changes to the infrastructure.

Some of the planes, but all of the maps!

I’m guessing the auth. server is going to remain down at this point until the Sun comes back up on EDs side of the world? We had a flight night planned for tonight and everything - so kind of a bummer this is effecting all clients, and not just those that OB updated 🥴

Guess it happens, but for things to be down literally all day… (this issue was discovered 7+hrs ago) is disappointing.

So, looks like we are all "grounded" today... Thank god i resisted the urge to buy the new map, otherwise I'd be really pissed now 😅

Hope ED will fix this mess in time for the week-end.

what angers me,, ok anger.. not good, but when I try to log into stuff I own or a website  I have account, which I had to go through a zillion security checks to begin with (Veterans know about this and their benefits server login), they force two step authorization, or even to check my home cameras.. they can shove 2 step..

I disagree - I started the game first with the very same version(MT does not auto-update) and it forgot my authorization as well, not more than 24 hours since the last time I'd played. I actually started the update after I encountered the problem.

So it doesn't quite work the way you suggested, at least not on my end.

Luckily, I planned to play Su-25T today anyway (for real, no sarcasm).

But it didn't make me feel better in general, as just a few days ago I was trialling the wrong version of Normandy (actually, on the shop it still says my trial "Ends in 175 days" for Normandy 1944, at the same time my trial for Normandy 2.0, which I'd never really seen, is over), so I'm not sure how consistent some things are between various customers. Not a big deal after all, but with so many modules and such complexity, it sometimes seems like QA is a bit behind.

Usually these situations generate distrust and discomfort among the community. We all know that there is always the chance of problems, but these situations lead us to question whether the modules we bought are really ours, or if we are just renting them? Wouldn't it be safer to start shopping on Steam?
Because even with server problems, we should always be able to play offline.
Or else change the game to a monthly subscription, with access to everything and that way these suspicions no longer exist.
This is just my opinion and I don't want to influence anyone, but I understand certain suspicions that sometimes exist.
