I experienced the same when I tried to launch Open Beta MT. Authorization failed, and all my purchased modules were disabled. I could only fly the Tf-51 and the Su-25. A horror scenario.
I suspect the failed authorization was related to the massive download activity for the new OB update. But there is no excuse for failure to allow off-line use of the software.

Denied access to one's modules offline is a relatively recent "feature". C'mon, ED!

For some reason the current server issues cause the authorization system to treat it not like connection issue (when you still get 3 days to play offline), but an authorization issue (when the licenses are revoked immediately).

I launched DCS twice today, the first time I got 3 days counter and could use the modules, but the second time I started the game, the authorization got revoked.

Not beeing able to play DCS even in SP mode (because ED is not able to get this exhausting issue done) is a simple impertinence. Period.

If ED's servers are down they should prevent this problem. Maybe they can give a week with all the modules for free.

I have a error 504 and the same issue of authentication. No module access.

 

Seems a bad system if you don't get a automatic grace period if their servers are broken.

Unfortunately, this situation, today's very big problem with servers, showed one VERY weak side, that basically there is no such thing as OFFLINE mode.

I managed to enter today only 2x out of 20 launches when I had all the modules and my own settings. The rest, i.e. 18, is the lack of authorization and activation for the modules you have. And it just shows that this is the Achilles heel of all DCS according me @BIGNEWY & @NineLine. Offline mode doesnt work properly in DCS. I had infmartion that something will be OFFLINE for two days, but another exit and entry to DCS and again Error 502, 504 and inactive modules including new Sinai map.

A hot request to refine the offline mode for the future, so that you can actually continue to use your modules for these two days in such situations. Unfortunately it doesn't work.

Let me remind you that the IL-2 BoX has had this option for a long time, so why isn't it in DCS? I think it's worth protecting us in the future for such a situation.

Btw. My friend couldn't get in at all, even though he downloaded the update. He'd probably also be happy if he could go OFFLINE, even if only for two days, and you also have time to fix the problem. Now with no Offline basically no one can play and probably both parties are upset.

Problems happen, but in such situations OFFLINE mode would help.

1) Everyone has internet nowadays.
2) To make login servers online easier than create an offline version.

To be honest they could at least create something like "Authorize offline mode on this particular Windows for a week".
And renew it every successful authentication.
In such case you can play at least a week even if your internet is down.

Assuming your hardware is in good order, I  think if you've paid for it, you should be able to use it and all the mods you've paid for whenever you like, regardless of the internet and any problems with servers.

That is how it works now (except only for 48 or 72 hrs, can't remember which, from your last successful activation).  Or at least how it normally works, seems like some people are having issues with this currently.  The other option is to set your version to "Offline" mode which means no MP, and if you change hardware in your computer while in this mode can cause issues (and I feel like there are a couple of other watchouts which I can't think of right now).

They need to have some version of copy protection and the current one is (IMO) probably the lesser of many evils in terms of options.  You can set it to use offline only (with restrictions) or get current authorization.  It's better than the old system with limited authorizations that got used up if you changed hardware.  Current is not perfect, but a reasonable compromise.

The same as reinstall on a new machine.

No, I can understand you need Internet ( for example some MMO games do not work without Internet at all).
I just asking to add ability to play several days offline in case something happens with servers.
I understand it is a security issue but I doubt anybody will have a special offline PC for stolen DCS.
Let's admit - DCS has very "narrow circle" of regular customers.

I think you probably have a greater understanding of the inner workings of the software than me, so forgive my ignorance, but it hasn't worked for anyone for the last several hours and it was completely out anyone's control.

IMHO - I can tell you how they think.
1) Down time for DCS authentication servers - N hours in a year .
2) Create proper offline version - K months of G devs \ testers\ ... bla bla bla

N<< K*G and if you do not have Internet - it is not our problem.
That's all
Sometimes I miss Flanker 1.0.  I think I miss 2.5 even more ...

We are aware and will look to make the offline more robust in the future. 

The situation occurred due to the update and version change. 

The current offline mode works to give you auth on the version number it is using. In the recent update and server login issues it was not possible to grant auth as the version number had changed and you could not login.
