antivirus -Latest update April 10 causing virus warnings and seems stuck

Recommended Posts

Too many virus warnings.  Had to shut anti-virus down but can't tell if it is updating.  I see the waiting for operation to complete, but no status window.

Hi,

most likely false positives, no issues reported internally by testers.

please let us know what security you are using?

and you may want to submit it to your provider

thank you

I'm using ESET and have been years without any issues updating DCS.  Unfortunately, I am now doing a complete reinstall.  Let the frustration begin haha.

cheers

You should really check a suspect file with virustotal.com before taking such drastic measures. Most of the time a false positive is most likely (in this scenario).

No, sorry it didn't. Now I've added a exceprtion for each single file. You can do this by right-clicking on each entry in the log and then click "create Exception"

This time the update was successful

On my case it was simpler to add an exception for the whole DCS program folder, never had one of these false positives again.

This was also my first attempt. Didn't work. Maybe my definition of the exception was not correct.

please if in doubt submit the files to your provider so they can resolve the false positive.

thanks

On my AV (MS Defender) the exclusion is defined like this:

Attempting to download newest version of DCS, I received this message from my antivirus software:

IMG_1202.jpegAs a result, the download doesn’t continue, and I’m locked out of the game. Any thoughts on how to resolve?

No quarantine, immediately deleted? Wow, I would ditch this AV in no time. Pretty intrusive considering, that false positives (like in this case) are not that uncommon.

You can only repair/re-install DCS and deactivate Eset for the time being and then set an exception for all DCS folders.

as @Rudel_chw mentioned, add the DCS folders to the exceptions in ESET. there are a few folders to add to exceptions detailed in this YT video.

this will also make the game load faster.

I solved this way:

open ESET interface and follow the pics order, click ok and run again the udate

Got the same issue a few month back with one of Razbam Mig-19 dll.

Got also around 15 dll quarantine by Nod32. Virustotal analysis on one of the DLL has it tagged as malware by 3 AV https://www.virustotal.com/gui/file/431961c63bb6dbf1567cb0cc0b618a11548cbfd6e4a4f115f02e0bb35633b11e/detection. Most likely false positive.

Since i'm not found of permanent exclusion, i've just restore and exclude from scanning the specific file involved (see screenshot attached)

null

Instalation went well after that.

I've just submit those file to eset for analysis (and classification as false positive). pretty sure things will get back to normal in a few days as it did for the mig 19 dll.
