Hello ED,

I noticed yesterday after the patch that canopy reflections in the Viper have been significantly reduced, to the point where it predominantly feels as if there is no canopy at all and as such immersion is greatly reduced.
 
May I kindly ask you to consider adding an option to restore the previous setting from before the patch for those who prefer more realism ? I understand that VR users might prefer to have less reflections but at the end of the day canopy reflections are quite abundant in the real Viper pit and as I understand it, ED strives for maximum realism. So an option to select more or less reflections would suit everyone.
 
Most other modules like the F/A18, JF17, F14 and A10C have very immersive canopy reflections and now the F16C is IMHO lacking badly in this regard, resulting in the feeling of sitting in an "open" cockpit without canopy, which is of course exacerbated by the lack of a forward bracing due to the bubble canopy design.

I haven't tested it myself yet. I enjoy reflections and dirt in canopies. Not a popular opinion it seems.

BTW, I'm a VR users and always had the perception that it is monitor users that suffer more from visual clutter since it is known that binocular vision helps in seeing better through clutter.

I jumped into the Hornet and similar story... reflections almost gone and no shadowing on the canopy glass from HUD, canopy frame etc. Must be a global issue after the patch, I hope ED looks into this...

They’re doing my head in, every patch lately seems to mess something up, six weeks between patches instead of four and still stuff gets through that shouldn’t

The key issue was that we had the new more dynamic reflections as well as the old static ones together on the F-16. The old static ones were removed and while you still have reflections they are more muted than before. We are still tuning as well I am trying to get a 'slider' so users can adjust based on their preference, while some here want more, there are others that want less. So a user setting might be the best bet. Thanks.

Slider sounds like a good idea to me.

Would that be across the board, globally, for each module or individually? Or even just for the Viper?

Hypothetical for now I s’pose but a decent compromise.

Yeah there is a mod that does this sort of right now adjusting the global setting, or it could be done per module which would be more work.

I have now tested it and that they've been tone down is an understatement.

Those reflections had become a very important part of the experience for me since their introduction in DCS, I love them. I hope that slider is weeks away rather than years.

Reflections are basically "off" right now. Why can't they be more "on" for people who want them?.... and people who don't like them can turn them "off".

I liked the reflections where they were before the last patch. They give a bit of feedback as to where you're looking.

it wasn't something that made it through that shouldn't have.

it was something that was reported, and adjustments were made based on feedback, but as stated already, one setting isn't ideal for everyone, and different displays etc etc, which is why a slider option is being suggested.

going off topic and after the testing team wasn't needed, as most of the team also mentioned the initial implementation of the reflections were too strong, and that as well as feedback, led to discovery of the reflections rendered twice (realtime and baked textures).

But as stated, it's new, and requires some tweaking based on a wider audience pool

Agree the cockpit was way more immersive with old reflections, I was wondering what was strange in the cockpit since recent updates and finally figured it out by reading this post.

Hope this will be available as Nine said, because this gives the feeling to have nothing arround you (also the HUD is full transparent).

Modules: Nevada, Persian Gulf, Syria, Normandie, FC3, CA, Super Carrier, A-10C, A-10C II, F/A-18C, F-16 C, F-14 B, SA342, and WWII stuff.

Hardware: I7 8700K, Geforce GTX 1080Ti 11Go OC, 32Gb RAM, screen resolution 2K

Devices: Hotas Warthog, Cougar MFDs, Saitek rudder pedals, Track IR

The problem wasn’t reflections in general, it was over exaggerated static reflections.  They were horrible. In the F5 I can barely see out the canopy sometimes with all the reflection.

Can't you just put a dirt on your own screen?

That's not helpful, but just a note, it looks like we will move ahead with a slider to adjust to your preferences. I am not sure how long it will take but its in progress. Thanks.

Thank you very very much. Is there any possibility , that such feature will be available for every module? Or is it just F-16?
