fixed Waiting for another application screen (much longer than before)

After the last update ( DCS 2.9.7.59263 ) I noticed that this screen is present much longer than before:

Near 0,4-1 minutes, before it was 5-10 seconds only so very short time.

Did you notice it too?

Can report the same as well. Thanks for posting. My game is stock. No mods. Have run a repair and still have this issue. Reset my modem as well and problem persists. Also, the multiplayer server list takes longer than before to populate. Don't know if its related somehow.

Perhaps the launcher is setting a lock which is removed late when one launches DCS?

You are right, this behaviour is not present when the launcher is disabled.

I’ve only had this “thing” pop up in the last 3 or 4 days , I’m sure I updated to the latest a while before though, with no Bad effect. 
I take it that it’s not really anything to be concerned about though, just a minor annoyance?

Yes, it's just a minor annoyance.

This warning is not new: it usually appears when you run DCS twice in a row. The first instance creates the "dcs.lock" file in the "Saved Games/DCS" folder. The second instance finds the "dcs.lock" file, which means it is not allowed to run since another instance is running. It subsequently warns the user ("Waiting for another application...").

Here, it seems that the launcher creates the "dcs.lock", then it launches DCS... which finds the "dcs.lock" file. Eventually, the launcher deletes the file and DCS starts correctly.

For me it happens on the first run. I only get time to sim relatively infrequently, so only launch once.

It doesn’t really affect anything (that I can tell). Thanks for the insight chap.

Me too, usually if I exit and restart without rebooting the PC.

In my case I think It's related to the launcher enabled and the top right "radar icon" spinning for a very long time, the language icon one. When I wait to the top right icon stop spinning before launching the game, the game  starts ok.

Yeah sounds about right. Same thing somebody highlighted in another post on this problem

Disabling the intro launcher solved the problem for me. As a matter of interest having disbaled it how do you re-enable it ?

I have the impression that it is a bit faster now, recently I even had this window of only 2 seconds, so I don't know if something has improved, or if the time is just ok, and sometimes the time is quite long.

This morning:
- I turned on my computer
- nothing was running before it (not DCS or anything else), there is no open beta anymore and there are no third-party mods either
- DCS will start and "dcs waiting for another application copy to release" will appear

- What is annoying is that the DCS is on a separate SSD (SAMSUNG 2TB 870 QVO SATA 3) and the system is on a separate SSD (Samsung - 980 PRO 1TB)
- i9-12900K, Kingston Fury 64GB Beast RGB DDR5 5600MHz, GIGABYTE GV-N309TGAMING OC-24GD GeForce RTX 3090 Ti 24GB
GDDR6X, HP Reverb G2
and you have to wait MINUTES for this nonsense to disappear and DCS to load.
And I'm so bored dear ED!
