I don't think he was being mean, more jokingly suggesting people are braver online than in person.

but what prevents you from changing the name to a fictional one and putting it back on sale? for example, not a ka-50 but a dragonfly and remove the real camouflage and symbols of the Russian Air Force and the Air Force, as well as the stars. I think it should work.

Since you (just like all of us) have no idea what the actual problem is, your suggestion makes no sense.

"Russian Helicopters" strictly monitors the use of trademarks belonging to them. Russian manufacturers of assembly models license their products.

You'll find that they're not unlike Western companies in that regard. The aircraft name, branding and their systems are company property like any other IP. That's why, in order to make a modern DCS module (or one for any other sim), you usually need permission from the company to use the IP, just like licensing for cars in racing games.

Worth noting, racing games go off sale after a period of time if the license was granted for a limited term and it's not renewed. This is unlikely to be what we're looking at here (since if it was, ED would've known that the license term is running out), but it's worth remembering licenses don't have to be granted forever.

If we are talking about licensing you can have least restrictive contracts where you as a company license and pay for fixed period. E.g. 1 year. When renewal is due, vendor may ask for more, e.g. by quoting inflation or other difficties which increase their costs.

You can also license for multiple years with full upfront or periodic down payments (e.g. every year). Here vendor defines minimal duration after you can cancel.

All has pros and cons. Lets hope this is just about money and not something more difficult.

The suggested solution is no different than what ED did with Link16 naming in the Viper.

Cool, so you have a solution without knowing the problem? You should play the lottery, because you surely know the numbers before the lottery...

If this was about money, they should have hashed it out well in advance. License expiration is not something that sneaks up on you, you agree on a term at the start of the contract, so you know perfectly well when it's going to be up. The vendor might try pulling a last second stunt, complicating an otherwise smooth process, but I doubt it's that simple here.

Unlikely. Link16 is a different issue, namely a subcontractor holding a trademark on a system the Viper uses. It's just a name, though, they can't prevent the datalink from being modeled. This here is the primary manufacturer.

The Mig-29 is made by Rostec too? Or have shared components with?

Russian flight instruments are shared between aircraft, but I don't think MiG-29 will be in any way affected. It's only JSC Russian Helicopters, not their parent company, at any rate.

It is already called “DCS: Black Shark”

It's clear about the helicopters, but why have the Russian developers (SL PAK, USSR Rik and Chizzhhh) been silent since the beginning of March and closed some of their topics in the Russian thread? Are they okay?

These products have been withdrawn from sale at the request of JSC Russian Helicopters, that is all we have to share for now, it only affects the Russian E-Shop for Mi and Ka helos.
