I'd want to glass a few cities in such a case, too. 1 Reformers hate him! Silver_Dragon Posted March 18 Posted March 18 Hi, What an announcement! It's great that Ugra Media is developing the map. I'm curious to see if 'Mutlanger Heide' (keyword: Pershing II) will be included in the map...Ugrs media never has a assets pack team, and actualy ssm missiles has on ED side.Enviado desde mi CPH2197 mediante Tapatalk 1 For Work/Gaming: 28" Philips 246E Monitor - Ryzen 7 1800X - 32 GB DDR4 - nVidia RTX1080 - SSD 860 EVO 1 TB / 860 QVO 1 TB / 860 QVO 2 TB - Win10 Pro - TM HOTAS Warthog / TPR / MDF

Punkmonkey22 Posted March 19 Posted March 19 Cold War Germany look amazing, thank you so much Ugra. It unfortunately also shows though how abysmal the last three map releases looks though. This has none of the sat images, is all as far as I can tell the "old" style, and looks sharp, colourful and polished. No blurry, baked in patches here.. 1

The Afghan and Iraq maps look fantastic. I was over the mountains in Iraq last night and at times I felt like I was flying over an oil painting. And I mean that in a good way. The visuals were wonderful. Not every map is for every type of flying perhaps, but citing Iraq and Afghan maps as "abysmal" is a bit much 8 Some of the planes, but all of the maps!

Things are not merely bad or suboptimal any more, they're abysmal, abhorrent, terrible, disgusting, worst ever, etc. And things aren't good or better any more, they're fantastic, amazing, glorious, epic, brilliant, etc. It's really annoying. No wait, I mean, it's abysmal, abhorrent, terrible, disgusting, and worst ever. 3 3

Drive a tank around Afghanistan or fly a helicopter and all you see is a smear of blurry low res textures and jagged edges layered together. It honestly is a huge step backwards visually in an attempt to look realistic. People need to remember that this isn't just "Drop a JDAM from 30k ft" simulator. They sell Combined arms, helicopter modules and ground attack aircraft, but at the altitudes they operate, these sat-image maps look Playstation 2-esque. Compare that to the screenshots and videos Ugra have shared with this new Germany map, it may not look "photorealistic" and is clearly a pc sim, but it looks GOOD at low level. And if the other maps they have done are anything to go by they will look amazing high up too. If the community don't speak up, how will the map makers know the feelings? 1

I think the hand curated maps work better than the satellite imagery based ones, and honestly for any historic map they are the only choice as the correct imagery doesn't exist (or at least is very limited, low quality and inconsistent compared with modern imagery). 2 Laptop Pilot. Esac_mirmidon Posted March 19 Posted March 19 (edited) Im very pleased with the improves in Afghanistan map. Not all the map is at the same quality but most parts of it are really good looking. For me is by far better than before. But i admit that the Ugra approach to map terrains fits better to my own taste, Syria and Germany looks wonderfull and i preffer this handmade terrains than the layers option with Irak and Afghanistan. Pros and Cons with every method but non are "terrible, subpar, abysmal" Edited March 19 by Esac_mirmidon 3 " You must think in russian.." None of the maps in DCS look like they came from a 25 year old game console. That's language inflation at work again. You can speak up without resorting to the most extreme adjectives. 8
